The ultrasonic machine is typically used to clean between tumbles not for tumbling from what I’ve seen online. The agate with the bubbles (Botryoidal) I would just just the one end off, polish on a cabbing machine, hand held tool or even sandpaper. And leave it like it is where the bots Are. Outstanding finds. I’m so glad I found your channel. I know I said I don’t know my minerals and rocks but those agates I know. They are one of my favorites. Now I’ll finish the video. Excited to see them all polished. Probably in another video? Anyhow can’t wait to finish this video. Trying to get your follower count up. You deserve more followers. Great videos so far. EDIT: my apologies I believe I misunderstood what you were saying about the ultrasonic machine. Seems you know know what it’s for. There are many that say that it works good to get the grit out between tumbles and there are many they don’t use them. I’ve even seen one young lady that uses a steamer I’m assuming like a steamer you would use on your clothes and honestly that really looks like it worked. I just wanna make sure anyone that sees this I’m not trying to be and know it all just going by what I’ve seen with people that do know what they’re doing with these other machines. Cause I’m just learning.

Red rocks appear to be jasper or agate-chalcedony form of fine crystalline quartz. This is the same mineral(s) that replaced the organic matter in the petrified wood you collected in the same area. Probably Triassic/Jurassic in age. I’m not sure as I’ve not studied the geology in that area, I’m just speculating. First time viewer, I’ll be looking forward to more. I’m thinking that some of the darker rocks are flint with opalized surfaces. I recommend acquiring a mineralogy field handbook at your local book store or from Amazon; preferably one with color pictures and geographical and formation environments analysis. This will help you at lease have a better chance of trying to determine the types of rocks and how they were formed that you collect. Thank you!

Maybe there was a lava flow of some glassy type, like dacite, on top of the soft gray layer. The soft gray layer might be volcanic ash. Being softer, the gray eroded out from under the black lava. Looking at the higher hills you might find some of the black lava still in an intact layer.

I’ve been there, lived and worked around there. Beautiful area with a lot of history and wildlife. Good spot for Moss Agate not to far away. Good vid!

Thank you for your compliment. I love being outside in Wyoming. So much to do and so many beautiful places to see and rocks and fossils to find. Hate the long winters, not being able to get outside and explore. I get cabin fever every winter, but the summers are so worth it.

It is close to South Pass city and the Carissa gold mine. I need to take the time and look for gold. I look for it when I am panning for garnets, but so far just a whole lot of Mica.

Never realized there were so many garnets in a river....What do you do with them?

I have a lot of garnets to do things with. Now that I am retired maybe I can come up with some craft ideas to make with them or if I could find a jeweler who could make jewelry out of them. A couple on my first trip years ago, said they make greeting cards with them. Make designs and glue the garnets on them. I bet I could think of things to do with them if I put my mind to it.

I forgot to say in the video, any where in the river where I was at there are garnets galore. That area is behind the South Pass rest area.
