Just found your videos on bluebirds. Love them❤ what time of year is best to put up bluebird houses? Thanks!
Love your videos-great job!! You’re simply adorable (and so young!) to know all of these details! Keep up the great work and thanks for this info!!
Doves are everywhere you don't have to do anything to attract them. They can be a plague and destroy a lot of farm crops every year. They are a game bird for this very reason. They are hunted to reduce there numbers. In South America they are a plague. People I work with go there every year just to hunt them. I never ate dove but I heard they are good to eat. I have two types of doves that come to my yard ringed neck and morning doves. I don't feed them they eat the food the other birds drop out of the feeders. I also have owls, hawks, and eagles In the area they feed on them. I see feathers in the yard all the time where they grab a dove.
I once saw one on a logging road in the Pennsylvania wilds. Every time I’d jog or walk along the road he would fly in front of me. It was like seeing a beautiful man in public; I never forgot him. ❤
Safflower all day
No Bradford Pears please. Invasive species that crowd out native trees!
Saw my first ever today!
Just now starting to really see the Blue Jays @ our farm in Texas; thanks for the tips so hopefully, I can bring more in. xo
Beautiful!! I played this for me beautiful backyard birdies this evening....and they LOVED every song!!! Thank you! ❤❤❤
Great blue bird video. I have a couple taking up residence right now.
For a kid without real shop tools you did great!!
i saw a mourning dove on my window at 05.12, it got me wondered how many bird i will get when i set up a bird feeder around at my area...
Could you please give me examples of perches that they use?
Thank you!
*Mourning dove (not morning). I actually found your video looking for what type of bird I heard this morning. It sounded almost like the sound of whistling at a pretty woman. Any idea?
I had a bluebird family in my nesting house. It was on a fence post close to my house, facing south. It was very protected. My husband and I were so excited to have baby birds. We could hear them chirping for food. Mommy and daddy were working hard to feed them, I took a picture of mommy and daddy perched on the house That afternoon, I could hear the little babies. Mommy and daddy were busy. I was away all day and when I returned I didn't hear the babies. Fearing they were dead, I opened the nesting box . And there was the problem.... a rat snake was curled up in the best and had eaten the babies. I was so sad. I had protected the nesting box since their birth and in just a couple of hours, a predator held them hostage! I realize what a miracle it is to see a bluebird family together. It won't happen again! We moved the box on a PVC pipe and place a slinky around the pipe to scare any predator away. I hope and pray the bluebirds return and try again.
Thing is this woodpecker doesn't have a speck of red on it's belly - it's got a orange/red head though and they are beautiful birds.
Very lovely..I also have alot of verified spies of unusual birds, just saw an Indigo Bunting.
See these birds all the time as I live in Central Maryland myself. I live in Bowie which is in central Maryland.
Nice and easy build for a bird house thanks!
Hi Carson. In your experience, what seems to be the cardinals’ most favorite seed?
Can't gray squirrels climb up the wood to access the suet? If you use a longer 2x4 and add a baffle below the feeder that should keep the squirrels out.
Can't keep the house wrens from taking over the bluebird houses
Great videos!
Thanks Carson
What’s the bird in the background at the hummingbird bit?
Looooove your videos ♥️♥️♥️
How small are the carolina chickadees? I was in Fort Washington park and saw a tiny bird in the tree. By the time I tried to snap a picture, it flew away. It was smaller and slimmer than a house sparrow.
Thank you for this video I really enjoyed it learned a lot
Thank you for these tips. Pygmy nuthatches are in the yard, and now I know how to help them.
They love the dried meal worms I've been laying out. Now I have babies in my back yard.
Thank you! I have feeders up at my new place, early spring, feeders up and refreshing my memories to ID them!! The birds are listening too! 🥰 Remiding me of the mornings, sitting with my dad! He always had feeders and could identify them! Thanks!! ❤️
Wow! I think I will start my tomatoes inside now and move to outside later! 😮
👍👍👍
🐦Wonderful bird footage, thanks for sharing!🕊
A house Sparrow flew in my window yesterday while I resting and was chilling on my leg, it was a good moment❤
Great work Carson!
Morning dove is the most iconic.
Good video, but as someone else commented please don't plant Bradford pear. Also consider greasing the poles the boxes are on or adding baffles, otherwise you might be just feeding raccoons.
I wish there were information on what types of bird feeders are best for deterring sparrows, while drawing in other birds. I understand that sparrows need to be standing and can't really hover or cling to a feeder when eating.
House sparrows are fairly capable birds while at the feeder- the only feeders I see them struggling with are upside-down suet feeders. The rest, in my experience, are fair game for the house sparrows.
@@carsonsbackyardgarden7135 I'm happy to report that supplying Nyjer and striped sunflower seeds, and using a fine mesh bag for the former, there are fewer sparrows and a lot more other birds returning! Coincidentally, I started using the Merlin song app today and I'm blown away by how many different kinds are in my yard! Also, I'll have to apologize to many beautiful singers whose songs I've been attributing to N. Mockingbirds! (Though I actually do have a lot of mockingbirds!) What fun!
When I'm lucky enough to get them, they like peanuts and blueberries.

Mowing grass doesn't increase insects, it destroys them. Way too much mowing happening already. Mowing should be discouraged
Thanks!!
i miss my home in northern VA :( same birds..
If we want to put up a few bluebird houses, how far apart do they need to be. Our existing bluebird house is 6 feet off the ground, is that to low? We have seen bluebird use this house, build ther nest with pine straw but never have seen the babies? Any tips, Thanks, Bill
I typically only see bluebirds using boxes more than 100 yards apart from other pairs. 6 feet is a ok height off the ground, but bluebirds typically prefer higher. This could be why the bluebirds didn’t use the nest they built; they found a better nesting site somewhere else.
We're having a mild winter here in northern Wi. this year 2024 I just started feeding the wild birds again chickadees hurridly grab up the seeds and stash them nearby.goldfinches nuthatches woodpeckers and blue jays making a ruckus drew in a flock of ceder waxwings what a sight they circled around then came in. though I've only seen them eating apple blossoms and wild berries in spring and summer. The darn hawks perch over the pond preventing the wood ducks from nesting there one year they had a brood and passed through the yard to the flowing creek. Ah a slice of Heaven.
Sounds lovely!
✨🕊️✨PVC for the best box works nicely. Squirrel 🐿️ love the glue in plywood so remember when building the boxes. Adding pitching sticks with a blue color. Wasn’t long ago they were endangered. Love your post and wish everyone success ✨🕊️✨
And buy a slinky for the pole! Keeps snakes out if the house
I`m mass planting black oil and striped seeds this year in the nearby goldenrod field and along my 600 ft driveway. There`s a mama deer living here though and she passes through my yard and I see where she grazes the wild lettuce in the area. I successfully grew a few sunflowers from bird seed last year despite the armadillos destroying most. They uprooted both my attempts at very expensive (7 bucks a pack) mammoth sunflower seed packs. So I planted black oil and striped seeds from bird seed to see if they`d grow.
I’m going to be trying the same thing this year in my garden! Best of luck this spring.
I noticed the dark eyed junco with the first snow storm. I used a bird identification app that listens for chirps and it was spot on! It’s called Merlin bird ID. I highly recommend it! Thanks for the bird videos 😊
Thanks for sharing! They are nice birds
