    First off, congrats on the Piston Honda! I hadn't heard of the Hertz Donut before, I want to look it up now. The section where you were transposing notes on the launchpad was great to see what you were doing and hearing it change the notes in real time. The jam was great, as always, one very small note, the drums felt a little low in the mix for me overall. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing 😊

      Thanks mate! I think it may be the way forward for me. To play the Vector in real time like that. It was fun to do, and it let to different musical path that I would not have traveled otherwise. It's good you say about the drums being too low. I hadn't noticed it myself. It's stuff I find very difficult to balance properly. So I definitely appreciate your feedback on that!

      Thank you kindly mate! Yeah, having clutter, be it digital or physical, can be a real source of irritation and inspiration. Finding that piece of (software)gear you haven't used in a while. And going this is exactly what I need right now. The real downside the physical gear is that it takes up space in a way you can't solve by upgrading to a bigger hard drive.

    So cool! Thanks! I'm finally getting to the point where I can almost speak the Electronic language enough to understand how to make music with these machines. I have a Edge, a WASP, the new Model 15, and the MAVIS. Now I just have to put them all together in a coherent way. I need some kind of different Drum machine, and a different way to control things, other than the Keystep 37.

      Thanks Sandy! Sound's like an excellent collection of synths you've got there! How is the MAVIS? Yes, the Keystep can be a bit basic. There are plenty of excellent hardware sequencers on the market today. But they aren't exactly cheap. At the same time, it's at the heart of your setup. So it's worth finding one that does what you want, and investing in. Thanks again!

    Weird thought, but you know when you put sand on a speaker driver and play frequencies that show harmonies in the sand as patterns - I wonder what this dissonant tones would look like as representations in sand. Random, I know. The whole jam puts me in mind of the sounds inside Skynet as it realises it can't win the war against humanity. Panicked mechanical screams. Enjoyed this a lot.

    not even sure you can have loudness AND dynamics……Loudness will be too loud for any dynamics, and dynamics will be too quiet for loudness…..if it were possible, it may be easier in atmos mixing, but stereo mixes cant have both dynamics and loudness. At least thats what mastering engineers say so ive read and watched. Great track as always though brother 😎👍🏻

    • @electronictiger
      @electronictiger 12 днів тому

      Thanks TechnoAssassin! Sorry for the delay in replying brother. You're probably right about incompatibility of dynamics and loudness. Or at least if you want to get really loud. Then the dynamics will go away for sure. But I'm sure someone more skilled that I am could push my music a bit further without sacrificing too much dynamics. For example, and this is a bit of an unfair comparison, maybe, as it's a very different genre. Lots of distorted guitars instead of techno. If you listen to Mick Gordon's track Rip & Tear. From the 2016 Doom game soundtrack. That track is LOUD! But surprisingly dynamic, given how loud and in your face it sounds. When I measure my official download FLAC, It's only 3dB louder than my music. Sounds way louder than that. Or sticking with techno, if you listen to the most recent tracks by Voiski. That stuff pounds way harder than my stuff. But measures in at the same level as my music. So there are definitely things that I can do better than I'm currently doing. Just need figure out how to improve them, lol. If you don't know Voiski, check out his Raqs EP. I think you'll dig it! And thanks again for your thoughts brother!

    • @TechnoAssassin-vx6zf
      @TechnoAssassin-vx6zf 10 днів тому

      @@electronictiger Not even thinking it was a late reply brother, christmas/family stuff going on. But yes Im assuming his stuff pounds way harder as everything is pushed to its limit through mastering but then wouldnt have many dynamics. Just take orchestral music for example…..the loudness simply isnt there becasue it needs dynamics to convey much more emotional detail. you could probably find a balance, but it would neither be loud and dynamic, nor dynamic and loud……I think it would be possible on Atmos though with so many speakers to place elements, but stereo mixing is a tried and tested format for years and how much can be squeezed out of it. Stem Mastering may be a way to go for you to squeeze as much out of it as possible, but as for loud and dynamic on stereo, I doubt that is possible. Stereo mixes on Atmos though may get you a bit closer, but I think full Atmos would be the one, due to having the main monitors and sub as the hard hitting, loud in your face moments, and the rest of the speakers doing the more intricate detailed dynamics……Maybe grab a set of cans that work well with Atmos and see how far you can push it and bounce down to stereo……AS weirdly enough, you can get a lot more out of a stereo mix if using the atmos render…….And I mean A lot more…..for example, frequencies that may clash on a traditional mix in stereo, cut through way more easier and louder…….food for thought…….

    • @TechnoAssassin-vx6zf
      @TechnoAssassin-vx6zf 10 днів тому

      Also, mick gordons rip and tear is not techno……the kick is practically non existent, hence why the rest of the track can be smashed into oblivion and be that loud. its courses for horses…techno and dance music in general is all about the kcik and bass smashing you in the chest at a club. If you are making dance music, the kick/bass has to hit the hardest….making aggressive rock music, you want the guitars to be wide panned and take up most of the frequency spectrum but have a much weaker kick compared to dance music…..like i said, stereo has been around for a long time now, and producers of said genres know how to get the best out of said genres……Just keep making great tunes, sending them to be mastered or better yet stem mastered or look into Atmos with headphones to start with and see how much you can push Atmos for stereo mixdowns

      @electronictiger 20 днів тому

      Thanks Ventzovv! That's an excellent start for a synth collection. Many years ago I started with a MS-20mini. And slowly acquired all the gear I have now. Even the simplest dumb sequencers aren't cheap. Want a sequencer that can do fancy things it gets expensive real quick. So thoroughly investigate what you need. The Beatstep and Keystep Pro by Arturia are good. And if you want something with more features the Oxi One or the Squarp Hapax look really cool!! But there is nothing wrong with controlling your synths via midi from your computer. Something like Ableton Live can launch midi clips.

      @electronictiger 20 днів тому

      @@ventzovv You're welcome. The Pro-1 has a few more Eurorack compatible connectors. So if you plan on using CV/Gate to trigger your synth you need the Pro-1. If you're planning to control things via midi anyway, I'd go for the Pro-800. Like you said, they sound very similar. And the 8 voice analog polyphony at that price is insane! On a side-note, I highly recommend playing polys with a midi keyboard rather than sequencing them. Then their magic truly shines. Edit: Not that there is anything wrong with sequencing it. Just when you play chords by hand, your human timing imperfections make it come alive.

    That’s way to much reverb on the kick, otherwise it’s a dope jam 😊

    • @electronictiger
      @electronictiger 18 днів тому

      Thanks Tomax! By modern standards there is definitely too much reverb on the kick. Go back 30 years, and it's a lot more common to have reverb drenched kicks. That's the stuff I grew up on / like and the style I was going for with this jam. So I'm happy with how it sounds. Nonetheless I sincerely appreciate your feedback. A lot of my other jams have way drier sounding kicks.Anyway, thanks again!

    Great jam, the duelling arpeggios with their moving timings sound really good over the steady base of the rest of the track.

      Sorry Barry, I missed your comment earlier. Happy to hear you liked it! You're also a 'lateling', ey? Losing track of time and staying up way too late. Happens to me as well. I like the night. It's dark & quiet. And music hits differently than during the day. Thanks again for stopping by!

      @@electronictiger That's good news! My GF (now wife)'s cat was gettin' on in years when we first met. He lived a pretty decent life with just one tooth left. A friend of mine joked hat he could've got a job in a belt factory. When I proposed (to the Mrs, not the cat) and she said yes the cat seemed to approve of the whole thing and "let her go to me" and passed peacefully, yet happily in his own good time. All the best to you, and Merry Christmas <3

      @@ambiguationdotnet First off, sorry for the late reply! Secondly, that is a beautiful and a bit of a sad story. I can totally see a factory where single teethed cats are biting holes in leather to make belts in a Studio Ghibli anime. Glad to hear you got the cat's approval. The definitely have an opinion on people. All the best & merry Christmas to you as well!
