    it’s not throwing DTCs, then what you gotta do it to a whole reset. Unhook the battery. Both terminals. Contact them together and either zip tie them, or whatever. And leave it sit like that for approx 15-30 seconds. Then hit the lights or horn to drain access power within the system, and then reconnect the terminals and then turn the key. If that doesn’t solve it, then it’s possible that either it’s a faulty sensor, or they just turned dumb and wanted to stay on and say hi 😂

    This helped me change the starter, thanks BUT, The car started fine for about a week and now it randomly does the one click thing again. The exact same problem it was doing before. now it's a new starter, and it's unlikely that a brand new starter would have worked for a week and then started doing the exact same problem. any idea what this might be or what a solution might be? It will start sometimes, and sometimes it takes about 30 minutes to get it to start. Battery is basically new (4 months old) and it's not a rapid clicking indicative of battery issues anyway. This is driving me insane and I can't trust this vehicle with my wife and babies in it like this. HELP!?! 😅

      @@509trails thanks for the tip, I'll definitely try that. of course the problem is intermittent so when I need it to do it it won't. I just went out and started it about eight times in a row. meanwhile yesterday it took 45 minutes to get it started. Go figure.

    Thanks for the video! I almost gave up until I saw this. Took a while to move it around just right to pull it out. I kept an eye on the position it was in when I pulled it out and reversed when putting the new one in. I didn’t want to mess with pulling out the motor mount or radiator fan that I saw in other videos. Great advice about keeping a bolt in to hold the metal gasket in place.

    The red one seems to be the hardest to find, not sure if you got that in USA, in Australia we had 3 colours in the Typhoon, the two you have, and a red one, which had black fan gaurds on the rear and the lift fan. Ours said METRO where yours says TYCO, but were essentially the same, I had the white one back in the early 90s, played with it heaps! By the time i got mine the Hurricane Hovercraft was out, in USA it was called the Mini Typhoon. The independent lift fan button was gone as was the ability to control each fan seperately, which meant reverse was only available on both fans together. The left stick controlled both fans together, the right stick controlled each fan but only in the forward direction. The Hurricane only came in red and black here.

    • @simplycountry
      @simplycountry 7 місяців тому

      @@509trails ihavea propane torch ( pretty sure it's propane it's a green bottle) and I did see that as an option that other people have talked about but I was scared to do it because there's oil all over the place under my van and was worried that it might be dangerous. I'm kind of like Murphy's law . I have one of those sockets that you can use for the o2sensor so it will accommodate the wires on it but there's no room to get the ratchet in there. Do you think it would be wise just to cut the cords on the O2 sensor so I could use the clothes end on a regular wrench to try to grip it better? I wasn't really sure if it would be worth the loss of the O2 sensor by cutting the wires to try that or not. I don't have a breaker bar so I'm not sure if I'd be able to put enough leverage on the wrench anyway. I'm starting to feel kinda hopeless but I don't have the money to replace the van over a starter so I got to get it figured out and I just got to there's no other option.

    Great video. I watched this before changing the starter in our town and country so I knew what I was getting into. My old starter was cranking slow and would not start the van when the engine was hot, it would bearly turn when the engine was hot. I would have to wait for it to cool down and then it would start. Info is dead on. I didn't remove the heat shield because I wanted to save time and also I was worried the bolts may break. I was able to get it out pretty easily with the heat shield I'm place. Took me 45 mins with the van on ramps and basic tools. You should use silicone to "glue" the metal spacer/shim onto the starter so it doesn't move around when you're trying to get the bolts in. New starter cranks super quick and works great.
