    I actually went from 120 hrs playing Modern Ed before switching to Classic Ed and went from Plat 1 down to Gold 1 before climbing back up to Plat 1 in Classic. I think I'm a better player now, but one of my biggest weaknesses now is dropping combos. Having played both, I think Classic is the way to go because it punishes mashing and provides greater versatility, but I definitely like your idea of upping your gameplay by facing off against them.

    Actually is you want a better Xenoblade Chronicles 2, play Torna. It has a much better story and the combat was refined to a T.

      Torna was great. Funny story about my Torna experience, I played a lot of it while I was traveling and on one flight, this kid in the isle over was GLUED to my screen anytime Mythra or Brighid showed up - which was funny but also made me feel uncomfortable playing lol. I actually let him play my Switch after because he seemed interested, and of course he picked Mario Kart to play lol.

    TotK’s building mechanics ruin the atmosphere that was so good in BotW. Fun but overall, weaker game.

      Honestly, I know exactly what you mean lol. One of my buddies was creating all of these inappropriate contraptions, and yes they were hilarious but seeing them in action during tense moments definitely took away from the atmosphere lol.

    It's pretty crazy going back and looking at even iconic franchises and seeing the sequels often being the black sheep in the franchises Super Mario Bros 2 Zelda II Dark Souls 2 Final Fantasy 2 DMC 2 Prince of Persia: Warrior Within Animal Crossing: City Folk This is why I say companies and even fans give up on franchises too soon. One experimental failure or misstep in a franchise doesn't mean a developer can't learn from it and make a better game in the future. I'd argue some of the best games in these iconic franchises came AFTER those failures.

    • @Ultradragon16
      @Ultradragon16 12 годин тому

      This is true. I hear so many people talk about how Mario 3 is one of the best, DMC 3 is always the one I get recommended with people telling me to skip 1 as well as 2, and if the 3rd Zelda is the one I think it is (Link's Awakening?) Then that's another one held in high regard. Like anything that came after no matter how long, but even the immediate next entries after the "worst"

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings 5 годин тому

      So true. I know it sucks when a sequel doesn't hit the notes that you want - but you shouldn't give up on a franchise for a 'misstep'. DMC especially from the games you mentioned, DMC 3, 4 and 5 were all excellent games.

    Tears of the kingdom is 10000000x better than beta of the wild. It also had an actual story and satisfying conclusion. Honestly Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is easily the worst. Same with NG3 that’s the worst entry.

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings 23 години тому

      Brother how did you think of beta of the wild lmao. And yeah NG3 was absolute garbage - don’t even know what they were thinking…they did release another version of it called razors edge but it still wasn’t the same level of the old games. Still fun though

    • @ironrex6979
      @ironrex6979 22 години тому

      @ Hehe it just felt that way since release. I remember when Breath of the wild dropped it was full of glitches and as much as I enjoyed the atmosphere, mood, temples, and very little story there was it felt empty and rushed. Most of the game felt like a waste of time. Tears though feels like a straight up complete game. Yes, I agree Razors Edge tried to fix the mess out of NG3 and I did find it fun, but it lacked the quality and thought that NG/B/S1 had and never capture the fun fast paced nature of OG NG2. Maybe even NGS2. Truly sad. I agree NG2 might have lacked polish in some areas but man is it still amazing!

    I respect the opinion on Xenoblade 2, but even the combat, does not gel with me. If I have one thing to say that 2 does better than any other Xenoblade game, it’s the soundtrack. They knocked it out of the park. Totally agree with your opinion on Zelda.

    Original RE4 was really bad for the Survival Horror genre. It changed it and not in a good way. Pretty killed the genre in fact. Story was really really bad as well. It’s a great game but it did more harm than good for the genre.

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings День тому

      I totally get what you’re saying - and you’re right it really did spark the “action horror” genre, which isn’t even scary if we’re being honest. At least we got games like Dead Space after to fill the void a bit! Great post!

    I think Xenoblade 2 is the most replayable Xenoblade game. I replayed it recently but skipping all the cutscenes to just do fights, and it was fun getting random rare Blades for each party member and trying to synergize them together. It does not require a lot of grinding if you already have the DLC with all the legendary crystals they give you. Doing fusion combos is still just as fun as ever.

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings День тому

      You may have just given me an idea for another list “video games that are better when you skip all the cutscenes” haha. Seriously though you’re bang on - its replay value is great because of the blades and all the synergy between party members. I also should have mentioned how awesome the Torna DLC was and how OP Jin was lol

  • @J.P1981
    @J.P1981 День тому

    Being a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fan from the get go was a weird experience. If you were there for the first year, people were trashing the game for the character designs (which did have some pretty bad choices), and the voice directing(Rex's battle cry being the biggest example). The characters had long arcs that some wouldn't have payoffs until the final 25 percent of the story, and if you're not willing to make the investment into these long playtimes that the Xenoblade games are known for, then the characters are not going to feel satisfying to be with. After having played through all of them (X not included yet), I can say that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had my favorite story and characters, and 3 had the best gameplay in my eyes. To me the cast of 1 had a more easy to digest story, and thus easier to quickly like, while 2 and beyond had to be a full course to be completed, if that makes sense. It's the story of these games, it's characters, the music, and the gameplay that keeps getting better and better that makes me a XenoFan for life.

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings День тому

      I love this post, thank you! I couldn’t agree more, Xenoblade 2’s redemption arch needs to be studied lol. Even Rex, I’m sure you remember how much people hated him compared to Shulk, then by the end of the game he really won people over. Then by Xenoblade 3s dlc, he became everyone’s favourite character from the series lol. You’re in for an absolute treat with Chronicles X, loved that game. Thanks again!

    Ryan Hart's opinion is absolutely biased. He fails to consider the accessibility of information, the improvement of training tools, the improvement of game design as well (ST, for instance, had random damage and stun values, random red fireballs, all those things get in the way of trying to learn and structure your knowledge about the game. Of course Haitani and all the games are amazing players in their own right, but there's a big argument there about how arcane old fighting games were, which has nothing to do with difficulty of execution or gameplay in general

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings 18 днів тому

      Yep, fighting games were just super niche at the time. Also I remember the first time seeing a red fireball and it blowing my mind lol. We all used to theorize what it did, we were just trolling ourselves at that point lol.

    It's easy to understand, fighting games are easier because the companies want more players, they want to expand and for that to happen they have to make games more friendly to beginners, this days all frame data is available, there's thousands of videos disecting characters, there's not that much matchup knowledge because characters usually have more or less the same hitboxes, now most characters have 4 frame jabs and so on, it's more linear, this makes it easier for players to get into this games and so they do, it's very easy to understand, it's been 25 years since Street fighter 3 and people still can't master red parry, it's been a year for street fighter 6 and most people can perfect parry 2 out 5 times

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings 18 днів тому

      I agree 100% on the match-up knowledge point. Now that universal in-game mechanics are so strong, the need to know in-depth match-ups is a lot less.

    Totally agree with all your points, I'm glad you mentioned the access to knowledge, the older generations are making the newer ones without even realizing it. We're all standing on the shoulders of giants, I can't wait to see how knowledge distills over the next twenty years. I'm actually disappointed in Ryan Hart's comments, does he really think the new kids can't hang in 3S? New kids are the main reason 3S is the most played game on Fightcade! Does he mean, like, if the new gen time traveled to the 3S era or something? He's smarter than this.

    • @SinghReviewingThings
      @SinghReviewingThings 26 днів тому

      This is exactly my point, the older generation should be happy with this advancement, because we all helped contribute to it. I know competitive spirit though, so maybe Ryan came from that angle more, still respect him tons as a player!

  • @omega_eric

    Everything you said is true, the games are easier, we have to more access to them and their content, but If a game like SF3 were released today, of course that everybody would be good on it too, it'd take more time just like it was back then. Few people played SF3, but SF3 NG was trash and killed SF, it only started getting popular after the "Daigo Parry". Justin didn't know that Daigo could parry like that, even after 6 years playing the game, but anyone (that has been playing it) can do it today, but most people will always play the latest version of the game. And everybody knows why these "old school players" have these opinions. It's just because they can't win anymore. They were the best in the world and thought it would be like this forever, but we have much more players today than we had the last gen. We have more people playing SF6 than we had on SF5 and we had more on SF5 than on SF4, of course we'll have more new talents every year. The games need to be easier so they'll have more players. it can't be for "pro-players" only or they'll die again. "New players can't defeat MOV in SF3". Of course not, they don't play SF3 and he's been playing it before some of the new players were even born. They don't want to learn SF3 because they're too busy learning the latest game.

      This is an excellent post. I think every generation is scared of giving in to the newer one because we feel it’s something we need to protect. Personally speaking though, I’m happy that the new generation succeeds because it means the older generation did the right thing and helped! And you’re bang on with new generations almost killing sf lol

    Back in the day, if you didn't have an arcade you was fucked. Now we live in an era where yes the game has got more accessible, but tech sharing is not only common but its international, I can go onto an elite player from Japan and snipe there tech for their character, the matchup knowledge is spread across social media forums, guides are made and updated. the game has got more accessible, but when you look at the improvement in online communication, social media, the fact geography doesn't fuck you over if you want to get good at the game, the fact it's more financially accessible. Pro's by Year 1, now know more about their respective game, than they would have, in 10 years of back in the 2000's and 1990's.

    Counter point many of the trash themes is less about hype and more about building character and informing their psychological state while building story. Example is Guile. The theme is less about getting hype and more entering Guile's mind. Guiles theme shows his miticulous nature. Meanwhile when hes low on life, other themes get more intense Guile's actually gets less intense and takes away musical elements. This symbolizes how he's tuning out distractions to better focus. This piece of music builds story, inform character while also fitting the unique beats of the match

    You seem to focus on popularity accessibility and resources and other factors, which do influence how fast people learn a game. But I believe Ryan Hart is focusing on the games themselves. The games of today have a comparatively lower skill ceiling. Even if those older games were just as popular, accessible etc it still remains that the older games had a higher skill ceiling. For example, the game of basketball.. the earlier you get the more it was a higher skill ceiling game. Today you got players traveling / carrying all the time and they don't call it like they used to. The GAME of basketball is easier now. There's more players, more outdoor and indoor courts, more youth bball programs, UA-cam training videos etc but the GAME itself is easier.
