The best way to fix a category 1 3 point Quick hitch! Harbor Freight and others.
I bought a harbor freight quick hitch for $70 and rather then hack it up or weld to it, I made it work with all my implements without bushings or modifying every one of the attachments. This simple fix will tighten up the connection points so there is very little slop. These modifications pop on and off so it can be returned to original.

Homemade Snow Plow from a Hot water tank - part 1.5 - after the cutting

I started making a snow plow from this old hot water tank. But I completely lost all hope and gave up on it and stopped filming ... Then it snowed 24" and I needed something to move the snow so i could get pallets of firewood to my shop. I started working on it again and got it to a point where I was able to use it. Ill be uploading more of these videos in the coming week.

Its not fast because these cans don't have a breather vent but it keeps you from spilling fuel everywhere. Easy Lemon 30 Second by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attributio...

    Keep in mind the Harbor Freight Quick Hitch is only Category 0 compliant due to the undersized lift pins. It is suitable for tractors up to 20 horsepower. It's unfortunate that HF hasn't updated the design to Category 1 compliance.

    The box is supposed to be full of oil. Keep an eye on the shaft ends. Got mine for free, the free spinning end bearings were completely gone and that caused the drive end bolts to walk and egg out. Getting bearings and bolts/tap/drill to fix the bolts. Otherwise it's solid and a great addition.

    DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS VIDEO !!! THIS PERSON DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT HE'S DOING !! Hey bone head, your doing it wrong !! You curl the bucket and set it on the ground, then set outriggers to take the weight of the hoe THEN shut off tractor, relieve line pressure, disconnect lines THEN drive away. The hoe will be standing on it's own, in a tripod configuration. Your going to hurt or kill someone telling people to leave it balancing on the outriggers like that.

    It's definitely worth it. The $120 quick hitch from Harbor Freight does the job good. I have 1000 lbs of counterweight on it. Don't use the $30 bushings, use the $3 sleeves. Remove the bolts from the top hook and put in quick easy to move pins instead. Now when I buy implements I just make sure that they will match up to it. Get an adapter plate with spaced-out pinholes for the top for some of the implements .

    I've done quite a bit of work with bedframe steel. I usually cut test it with a grinder first to check the quality of the metal. Look for nice long sparks and fine grain in the steel along the cut and it will actually support quite a bit of load.

    I had kind of a retarded idea for one but I have to wait for amazon to ship new plasma tips to my house. Take an heating oil tank and cut out one of the curves, flip it around put some weight inside the tank and weld the curve back in. Then put weld some pad eyes on the tank and run a chain through the brush guard on my truck. The brush guard is the correct height to where I can push the tank around and having the chain just a little lose will allow it to pivot when pushing at an angle. I'm confident it will at least sort of work and my only costs will be welding rod and electricity running the welder and plasma cutter.

    Not ever used one of these but am looking in to getting one. One question I have is, what keeps the top/center link connection from disengaging from the quick attach. Nothing there to hold it in place. For instance, pushing dirt or rocks with a blade turned backwards. Looks to me like that top/center connection would jump out?

    You mentioned in the video about disconnecting the hydraulic lines, and it is difficult to reconnect. After disconnecting the backhoe from the tractor, and moving forward a little. Shut the tractor off, wiggle the handle for the bucket to release the hydraulic pressure, disconnected the lines while it is off. Then turn the tractor back on and move it completely. It should be easy to reconnect the hoses this way.

    While this was a good video I liked the other video you made better that showed how to take it off because it had your commentary in it. I just put mine back on and there was some confusion on if you had to attach the rear and the pins at the same time. Please keep making videos! I’m looking for a fluid change video for the XJ 2025 because the small filter on the hydraulics is hard to access.

      I moved and tractor hasn't been getting used much on my current property, still searching for the perfect place but with todays land grab... its much harder then before. To get to the small filter, you need remove the plastic cover under the seat with the bump on it, the 3 point lowering speed valve knob needs to come off also.

    For everyone saying all he had to do is add bushings to all his implements.... That top hook is still to long to hook into a lot of implements. It's too much hassle to have to change the top hook and convert all your implements to cat3 size just to adapt to a hitch that wasn't designed right.

  • @Gruuvin1
    @Gruuvin1 3 роки тому

    I fixed my category 1 Harbor Freight quick hitch by measuring the hooks, while it was still in the box, realizing the hooks were sized larger than category 3, and the taking it back to Harbor Freight for a full refund. Problem solved. Maybe I'll get a SpeeCo.

    I bought the extended top hook and Cat 1 to Cat 2 and Cat 2 to Cat 3 bushings from AgCrazy and Harbor Freight reimbursed me $20 for the top hook. I found the top hook still needed to be ground down 1/4" in the bottom of the hook so my QH compatible Land Pride rotary cutter would completely seat into the bottom hooks. Worked great after that.

    Dad just got a New Holland Boomer 20 (same tractor) Can you still have your bottom 3 point arms on and tuck them under the backhoe subframe while the backhoe is on? Its such a bad design to have to remove one rim and tire to slide the bar through for the 3 point

    I welded 3 center slipper equalizer hangers (for hanging axles) to the front face of my non quick attach comparable implements. They are very heavy u shaped & a large grade 8 bolt can be ran through their holes. It took 10 minutes & less than $30, my quick hitch hooks up perfectly & it is tough,

  • @mauricehickson8412
    @mauricehickson8412 4 роки тому

    Another thought - I use 1" galvanized pipe to slip over the cat 1 pins and drill holes in the pipe for bolts through the existing pin holes. These stay on the implement. For the top link, I install one very large swivel on the implement top link pin. The swivel fits over the top link hook .
