Race Day! No one showed up - we had fun anyway!
Переглядів 185День тому
What do you do when not enough people show up on race day? We ran anyway and had a blast. Brought out the Project Ultima and flea market Kyosho Raider. Also had a quest appearance by a Losi Pro Moto. Is RC dying off? I hope not.... Music by Infraction: Workout Rock Racing by Infraction [No Copyright Music] / Alternative Rock ua-cam.com/video/kd6kpJfq-bI/v-deo.html

Try a 0.1 or 0.2mm shim, that 0.5mm sounds like it might be too thick for the pinion
Got a 👍🏼 just for the song.
You need to upgrade that pinion. My rustler runs 35mph on 25t pinion bl-2s. I installed a 16t pinion. It ran at like 15-20mph. It’s very fast, you just don’t have the right setup.
After this video I bumped up the pinion (21T). It runs much faster and it still runs nice and cool.
Nice
Hell of a jam and album
Beautiful I had one when I was young I built it by myself when I was 10 and I had a Futaba pistol grip controller and my friend gave me an electronic speed control. My problem was I kept breaking teeth on the gears when I slammed it in reverse. The next truck I got was a tamiya hi lux built that too!
They were a little issue prone, but were great looking RC's.
Heck yeah!!! Looks like fun!
Is it faster than a Frog? How fast will it go? Bet my Radio Shack car is faster! It takes 8 AA's!
I'll take that bet!!
Looks like that thing has some crazy altitude 🤣
Yeah! It almost took me out!
It is a fun on but it is very much like a hopper and skitters around when driving. I put the oil dampers on mine and it still skitters and hops a bit but it does help settle it down. I used the 50519 fronts and 50520 rear shock on it and if you shop around you can usually find them for not too much. It will be a fun one and one you don't have to take seriously when you are driving it. You just kind of sit back and enjoy trying to keep it out of trouble much like a GH!
@@AddamsPlayground For some reason I find the "hoppers" to be a lot of fun to play around with. You know you can't get too serious with them and that's the fun. The thought of upgrading the shocks did cross my mind. Not sure how much it will help. I'm sure it will still hop around! 😁
@@arkyrc it will still hop a bit but they do make a difference. It does not have so many of the "dart off in a different direction" type moves with the oil dampers on it!
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks! I'll have to try and find a set.
I have one, aweful handling, tooth pick for steering servo rods, no suspension articulation at all. BUT it has its own charm and never fails to put a smile on my face every time I take it out for a run, which is think is often the most overlooked bit of RC-ing.
@@hendrahendra For me...the charm of these cars is what makes them fun. You're right...if you're not smiling..you are doing RC wrong!
😂❤
You’re hilarious
Very nice upgrade
@@UrbanLegendRC Really improved the handling. Car feels much more planted in the rear.
I think I remember that
Nice jumping 👍👍🏻
I tried
It looked great out slinging dirt and dust everywhere!
Thanks!
Goes well out there on the track pal 😎
It hooked up pretty well. The 19T isn't as fast as I thought it would be. Comparable to the standard 540. Fast enough for my track though. :)
Love it!! You know me and a Raider! Are those the shocks from the rereleases? Love the colours you chose for this one pal
The shocks are the vintages ones I had rebuilt and put on my other Raider. I just swapped them out since that one is more of a shelf queen. The rear shocks are a little stiff for the car.....probably just need some thinner oil in them. I really like the white and black color scheme. I wasn't too crazy on the retro color scheme and new decals were $30. The decals I ended up using are modern decals. Not period correct, but they are perfect for a runner car. I did take it out yesterday and run it. It ran pretty good...not as fast as I thought it would be, but fast enough. The rear axles were very noisy. A little grease quieted them down. It will make a perfect runner. I won't have to worry about keeping it pretty!
@@arkyrc raiders are meant to be run and they are better for it pal 🙌🏻 Thanks for letting me know 👍🏻
Very nice! Look great in the simple black and white theme. It should run well with those tires on there! Looking forward to seeing the run video but I certainly understand not wanting to stand out there and melt!! If you are doing anything more than sitting in the shade with a cold drink then it is pretty awful outside lately!!
Great run video! Great looking car kicking up some dust and you got some great tracking shots in there!
@@AddamsPlayground Thanks Adam! Just trying out my new action camera. Wish I had faster internet service for 4K uploads. Maybe someday.
Looks like that has a lovely motor in there 😎
This is the car I built last year for a friend. The motor is very smooth. It handles awesome on my track which was nothing but dust that day. Very impressed with it. It jumps very balanced. You need one! 😂
Dang, you got ya a professional driver!
@@abullock1995 he's a decent driver, but he drives too fast for the cameraman sometimes! My legs are getting old!
1:58 that "upgrade" for the battery box is called "duct tape"
Very cool! What shocks are on this buggy?
@@TheImtoomuch E Bay Option No 1 shocks for the TT02. Check out my video I did on them. Thanks for watching.
@@arkyrc I saw in the other video. Thank you!
Nice build. Such a great looking car.
@@TheImtoomuch Thanks! It drives great.
@@arkyrc you're welcome!
Bro this is sick
Love it!! Such a badass car! Great video, too!!
It handled so good...I was impressed with it. The driver in the video seemed to enjoy driving it too!
Hahahhahahaaa
Toy cars 😂😂😂😂 the "epic music" too 😂😂😂
I guess the top 5 are the best at soldering lol
Always check your connections! Luckily, that was the only mechanical issue of the day.
Need that rc car
I wish I had known about these magazines! I grew up in the 90s thinking that radio shack was it! Although I had seen bigger better RC cars and trucks, I had no idea where to even look at that age! Even still, So cool to see these now! Nice video!
Thanks! I love looking through these. Takes me back to a simpler time.
Idk, man. I'm sold on the shock pliers. Especially for popping in the balls or standoffs. Tekno, FTW. I don't always carry them, but I don't build kits without them.
I use the "shock tool" more for holding the smooth links from Tamiya kits while threading on the ball cups but since I have them the do get used on the shock shafts. In the past I have used all kinds of pliers, some with better luck than others! LOL!
That's a really good tip, actually! I actually eventually went and bought me a shocks plier, after I scratched a few shock shafts... Those simple crimp tools could do the job just fine, too!
@@madsrcbuggy Thanks!
The tracks were slick as snot on a door knob that day! 😅
Broken wires are a pain in the ass! Never break at a good time! 😂
The old racer trick was to clean them out completely and just add a few drops of thin oil to them and it makes them run much more free but you have to re-oil them often. Your way is much better for longevity for sure!
For the environments I run in grease definitely last longer. It's amazing how dirty bearings can get! Back in the day we used to melt down vaseline and soak the bearing in it. LOL!!
Good info!
i have that plane and sometimes my porpeller wont go when its all set up everything else will work but the porpeller will not spin do you have that problem sometimes and how to fix it?
I have not experienced that issue yet. Almost sounds like it hit the LiPo cutoff voltage and shut off the motor to protect the battery. Are you using new a new battery that's good? Are you balance charging? If so...you may have an issue with the electronics . If you figure it out please let me know.
@@arkyrc i found it out it was a safty switch thank you tho :)
@@OliversAviation1 Oh yes! That makes sense. Glad you got it figured out.
Very Nice
Great action Arky! Looks like everyone had brilliant fun and what a great track 😎
Thanks Graig. 😁
What's the size of the bearings ?
They vary. I just ordered the entire kit from Fast Eddy Bearings.
Makes it easy and it's just as cheap as buying them all separately. Makes a huge difference in the gearbox. Thanks for watching.
Those old stock bodies were often paper thin at times. I am not sure if it was a cost saving thing or just to make molding them a lot easier and quicker but there is a big difference between vintage and modern shells for sure! You did a goo job getting it all patched back up and ready action!!
Paper thin describes it perfectly! LOL!
Love seeing a Raider being worked on dude 🙌🏻
Should be an easy and enjoyable project...although it's missing both motor brackets. Hoping they are not needed or I can fabricate new ones. Seems like the one I ran as a kid (bought it used) didn't have them.
Looks like the perfect shady spot to enjoy yourself!!
Nice work pal!! Here comes the summer 🙌🏻
