I recently played OneShot for the first time, and god, is it a powerful game, hot damn. It's a really beautiful experience, and I cried 2 times.

There are two sequel/spin-off options: 1. You play as Niko is his/her village and world, and he/she reconnects with the player, or 2. You play as an old or new character in Oneshot's world with the sun restored and Niko gone, and just living in that world.

I'm quite late to the party having only just played through Endling a few days ago, but it has easily become probably my 3rd favorite game of all time. (just behind SOMA and portal 2) I had it in my steam wish list for a long time and randomly decided to give it a shot. I went in completely blind and didn't expect much. There are definitely some flaws in the gameplay, some of which you mentioned. Despite that it is such a beautiful and honestly life changing game, I played through days ago and I still just randomly get sad thinking about the game and its ending. I've played countless games with tragic or bitter sweet endings but Endling's hit me harder than any game before. I genuinely feel like a part of me died with the mother fox, knowing we won't ever find out what happens to the cubs and badger. Having such a beautiful world (ironically) in such a short game feels so tragic in its own way. I found your channel off this video and its so well made and high quality. It's actually insane how such a well made video has this few views, its almost fitting that its on Endling, which I feel went under the radar as well. Not sure if you'll see this because of how old this video is but I just wanted to say thanks for making this awesome video, I needed to hear someone talk about this amazing game and its story to help me through my uncontrollable sobbing after beating it.

To avoid heavy spoilers, there’s a giant lightbulb you receive after fighting a boss and it helps you in a certain section of the game. If you’re interested, you should check it out. It’s a very good game.

Badalin is basically like Madeline’s inner mind and so I think that in the dlc when she says that granny is gone it shows how deep down, Madeline knows she is gone.

The story in this game is so good, everything about it is good too. I like the music

After playing OneShot in 2023, I'm happy to know the history & ideas that were in development. I'd love to get in contact with the team, but nonetheless, having the history here is appreciated. It's funny listening in that ideas like the Sound Test & Character Bios would be added to the console ports. Even when something is perfect, there's always more to improve. Thank you to all the effort to all parties.

I do feel like solstice waters down the original experience you may have had with the game. The original, pre solstice playthrough has so much weight to it because of your tie to niko and, in extense, to the world you've shared with them. I imagine that solstice was made to ask and answer the question: Should you really care about niko and this world at all? They're fictional, aren't they? Just a game after all. And while these are genuinely interesting questions, Im still not sure they needed to be solved within this game. If anything, not getting an easy answer makes this game much more gut wrenching and hard to wrap your head around, which I believe to be its core identity. I loved this video.

I really like how most of the stuff they said in the "Four years later, what would you change?" chapiter made it into the world machine edition.

The PSA was terribly depressing... I was already devastated by the finale of the game, but that added another weight seriously. On the side note I was so stupid for not helping the culprit of the Badger, I thought I could have done nothing. Also I had no clue for the death of the fisherman, it's incredible how much little detail there is. Anyway, it was a really pleasant watch, I could wait another 7 months if needed :)

Hey there! To be honest, I kinda forgot you existed until I saw this pop up in my recommended, but I remember you from the OneShot video (I was actually able to run the code on PS4 after the WME released, yay!) While I wasn't able to play _that_ at the time you released that video, I was able to play _this_ game quite a bit beforehand, and man was it a ride. When I did a letsplay, I had a plan in mind of 10 days per session, but I just couldn't put the game down due to it's beauty... and beat it within 2 episodes without even knowing there was an actual ending. While I didn't show much emotion during the ending while live, I was feeling a whole lot internally... I just have problems expressing emotion for whatever reason sometimes, I guess. It's a shame this game is so overlooked, as it really is a gem of a game, and it's always interesting to see others' thoughts on it... much like OneShot, oddly enough. Here's to hoping games like this get more attention in the future! Edit: Fun fact, the Japanese text on the slaughterhouse translates to "French Farm". Got curious during my playthrough since I tried learning Japanese before (can't remember a thing except how to tell the difference between Kanji, Harigana, and Katakana), so I just decided to take the time to use try to hunt through my notes to try to translate myself... before promptly giving up and just using Google Translate
