In October 2021 we decided to leave our home and careers behind in pursuit of our version of the American Dream. We flew to the Caribbean and moved onboard our new sailboat, a Lagoon 440, we lovingly call S/V Tootsie Marie.
Catch up with us onboard as we explore Islands in the Bahamas and Caribbean or travel the USA in our RV, a Safari Trek, called Goldilocks. We are grateful to live this lifestyle as we explore beautiful new places.

We’re leaving Saint Kitts just before sundown and making our way to Canouan, a small island in Grenadines (St. Vincent). This overnight passage had the best wind angle for the most comfortable sail. Compared to Island hopping our way down with a poor wind angle, making for an uncomfortable ride. #islandhopping #fishing #sailing

On our sail from St. Kitts to Montserrat our electric furling headsail stopped working. We figured after we anchor, we could address the problem but when we tried to anchor, the windlass stopped working…When it rains it pours! During this episode, we will replace parts of the head sail motor to get her back in working order. As for the windlass, we will do it the old fashion way in the meantime...

Busy week buzzing around both the French and the Dutch side of Saint Marten/ Sint Maarten. We take down our headsail and drop it off for repairs at the sail shop and find a new washing machine and install it, which twice the work since the first machine had a cracked drum!! Ugh. We also enjoy the sites and some delicious food while we meet up with friends. #saintmartin #sailboat #boatwork

You are right, it’s truly incredible with the big views that are endless! It makes you feel so big but so small when there’s no land in sight and you’re at the mercy of the wind and sea.
I just love the views/perspective from the ocean, especially when you’re out on passage, and all you can see is expensive views. Even the contrasting crazy weather makes you appreciate the beautiful weather that much much more.
If I was doing that, all the little pieces would be on the sea floor.j

Welcome back to St Martin. You mentioned about lumber at the hardware store... what did you need? 2x4's? Also, what happened to the old washer? 2 years doesn't seem like a long time?
Luckily this time we didn’t need any lumber. We were just making it known. I guess the drum bearings didn’t like the salty air or being constantly sloshed around underway🤷🏻♂️. The new one seems like it has a higher build quality so hopefully it will last longer. Hope you guys are doing ok.

Was in DR back in 2018. Beautiful beaches, but the bay we were in was heavily polluted by massive rainfalls a week earlier. Water was muddy from all of the discharge from the mountains around us, and lots of debris.
