Building a portable tiny cabin with “free” wood. Step by step
I built a portable tiny cabin with free lumber. Check out how I built this portable cabin for $100. I salvaged the wood from a 30 year old farm fence made of 2’ x 6’ lumber.
The cabin can be broken down and loaded up in a 4’x8’ft trailer (pulled by an ATV). Set up takes about 30 minutes.
The small stove will keep this cabin incredibly warm thru the winter months.
The cabin can be used for camping, hunting, ice fishing or a play house for the kids.
It was an amazing project that took about 10 hours to complete.
Supplies:
Two 3’x3’ pallets (floor)
40 pieces of 6’ 2x6 salvaged lumber
1” 4x8 sheets of insulation board
And a small camping fire stove purchased from Princess auto.
Two large hinges for the door
This is a great affordable winter camping solution.
Be sure to check out my other acreage/country living hacks.
Subscribe!! Ill be making many more winter camping video’s in this tiny cabin.
Have a great day, Jason.

Do you mix the salt in or is it delivered that way? We have a steep driveway that gets iced over and everyone tells me salt is not good to use on dirt/gravel driveways? We had 15 tons a bedding sand delivered since I have a sand spreader for my side by side, but the sand freezes solid and it becomes useless - any info appreciated.

I just happened to see your comment. It has been my experience (At least in VT) that if you use too much salt on a Dirt Road/Driveway, it will prevent the road surface from freezing. This means that when you plow, you will dig into the road and depending on temperatures, it will become muddy because you have lowered the freezing point of your surface. I'd say 98% sand/gravel to 2% salt should be fine, but your mileage may vary.

The best time for a cord I’ve seen is 45 minute’s…that’s with perfect size wood and an extra guy loading the table while the other guy cuts……average time is an hour and with bad size wood that’s not straight it can be 75 minutes.

I have the log lift table with the Eco pro….it’s well worth the money it more or less replaces the need for a tractor if you can set up close to your wood pile…..the only beef I have with the log table is that it is heavy and hard to move …i am looking at a way to put it on wheels on it so it can be moved closer to the pile easier.

Nice set-up! I am just using an old 27 ton, standard type splitter. Many of the trees I split have very large diameter trunks and I've never met one that couldn't be processed. The trees are downed and I roll the rounds over to the splitter. The splitter is in the vertical position, so I don't have to lift anything, I just tilt the round onto the splitting base. Are you limited to a particular diameter tree with your set-up? Thanks for the video!

I have the same unit with a table that has a chain feeder to move the logs ahead , the table holds about 20 logs and works great . The split logs land in totes so I never touch the wood until I put them in my wood box in the house.

    @davidsetness8188 Рік тому

I'm looking at this same set-up. What made you go with the log lift instead of the table? I am looking at the lift due to storage size. My thinking is place a few 4x4's on the ground to drop logs with the tractor then roll them to the lift (back woods log table).
