1-2-3 and not spam R1 is really good and simple advice.
I played this one Roblox game called deepwoken and it helped me a lot with getting into the parry system
To be fair, it's not really a great two fights to choose from to showcase this. For example lady butterfly attacks very frequently. Headless eight does not. His attacks are very Slow Therefore, building his posture bar isn't going to work. Even if you do deflect every attack, he has he backs off. Enough and has enough time in between his attacks. You cannot build his poster bar up. Especially when his life bar is on the full side. Lady butterfly attacks so often. She doesn't have an opportunity to bring her posture bar down. The only difference of these fights is the frequency of attacks from the bosses. Therefore, you're forced to take down the life bar of headless ape, and if you're decent at deflecting, you take down lady butterfly through posture. It isn't that the game forces you to decide posture or damage. The game decides for you by how often the n p c's attack you.
@@RobK-rl6sn And that's why it's more efficient to do certain bosses certain ways. You can deflect all you want, the ape really wouldn't build up much posture compared to Lady Butterfly.
Thanks, nice video.
I've watched several guides while struggling with this fight and IMO this is the best one by far. Finally managed to beat them after a long fight in which I broke the eldest brother's blade but still almost lost because I got distracted from using my grindstone and broke my own weapon. Thank god for urgent repair kits. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to make such an excellent guide! I really enjoyed the flow of the fight once I understood what to do and it somehow turned one of my least favorite fights so far into one of my favorites.
I'm glad you found it helpful. I really think this fight is incredibly fun. That's why I made this guide. It requires some strategy as well as skills.
The Metal Gear Rising of Transformers!
I've never played Metal Gear Rising, but I know the soundtrack is also pretty insane.
The existence of this channel partly owes a bit to the Transformers community. I was watching Transformer Toy Reviewer Perspective End talk about the UA-cam Algorithm which gave me the idea to split the Fire Emblem Retrospective videos into their own channel. That's how this channel came to be.
Good to hear from you again, man. :D
Practice with Genichiro in memory is another great way to learn the rhythm as well ,at least for me whenever I felt rusty I fought him
Someone told me Sekiro is a turn based game and it all started making sense
Sekiro is the hardest game I ever tried. I stopped playing an hour. Just too hard. The game never clicked with me. I returned the gsme to gamestop.
@@Batman-jc5uc Part of the difficulty comes from not knowing how the combat works. That said, not every game is right for everyone.
@Dinosaur_Arcade I did well playing Eldin Ring and Dark Souls 3, but Sekiro is much more difficult. The game is based on parrying at an extreme level. The reflexes the game demands are going to be too much for most people, especially if you are over 40. I had to ice my left index finger after playing Sekiro.
@@Batman-jc5uc Ouch, that sounds painful. Don't hurt yourself gaming. I just turned 42 on November.
You shouldn't! I played it on Steam Deck. I had so much problem with defeating purple ninja. I stopped playing. Played a lot of other consoles and games. More than a year after, one day I started the Steam deck and wanted to try it again. It was harder than ever. I searched on youtube how to defeat him. Now it has passed 1 week and im half through the game with 30+ hours on a week, still playing on Steam Deck. Watching a lot of youtube video ofc, to save time and not die 100 times on every boss. But I really Love Sekiro. You should give it a try!
Rule2 is excellent advice. Being a defensive player, I would block 90% of the time. But never noticed that the enemy’s perfect parry was indication of an upcoming attack. Thanks!
Yeah, I have noticed a lot of players miss this cue. That was one of the reasons that inspired me to make this guide.
Quality tutorial right here!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
i downloaded the game yesterday its fun
This boss was the easiest in the game with specter and the bone saw blade+ bramble blade handle, specter tanks hits whilst I attack so easy
literally what i was looking for when it comes to animation canceling thank you
I've long since plat the game and swapping my items isn't really and issue for me. The thing I struggle with is cycling prosthetics for some reason.
It's not so much as swapping being a problem, more like it's easy to forget what you have equipped in the heat of battle. I use the exact same tactic with my prosthetic tools. I only equipped the one I needed and nothing else when I first started.
I have yet to beat a single mini boss. Sheesh, I’m getting slayed here!!!
Keep at it. It takes practice and observation to learn the patterns of each boss and controlling your button presses. I know I was fumbling through the controls when I first started.
I'm not actually a big Souls guy, but I heard the Souls community was up in arms cause someone dared to suggest adding a pause button to the game. Have they never played Sekiro before!? You can literally pause the game. This is one of the first tactics I came up with before I mastered the game.
I’m a noob, and even I know how to pause the game in the middle of a fight! 😂
New Sekiro player here, started just the other day in December 2024. It’s kicking my ass, and I came here to learn a thing or two about how to git gud! 😁
Funny you commented since I'm going to have a new Sekiro Short Tip video out later today. It might be helpful for new players.
@ I’ll keep my eyes peeled! Thanks for the videos! 👊💥
@@JustDavidK It's up in the shorts now. It's one of the first strategies I came up with before mastering the game.
Me too I literally just started I cannot find a way to level my gourd or my health up and I don’t know where to go
@@klausecuevas7758 If you beat the first Samurai general, you can go back to the temple. A lady (from the intro) will be there. She'll upgrade your gourd. To upgrade your total health, you need to collect 4 beads. Then sit at the Idol to increase your health.
I know this might sound weird, but the thing I look forward to in 2025 is paleobotany. I just love plants and nature and I want to build a beautiful habitat for my animals.
That’s absolutely not weird, especially since the lead developer said, that it is intended for herbivores to be able to feed on this plants, what would add a lot more realism. But according to the roadmap, it will not be realised first, animal socialising will. Paleobotany is supposed to come together with ontogeny. Also, thanks for the video:)
@Philipp-c4t I never treat the roadmaps as set in stone. More like a preview. They just flipped update 13 and 14 around for example.
I am stuck at Genichiro Ashina since 2 days, i get to his lightning phase but i don't have no healing gourds and res left. Also my health is half or lesser and i panic, i will try not to spam but I cannot figure out how to be aggressive and deflect.
Ok, so here is Genichiro's pattern. You: attack attack parry. On your second attack, genichiro will always parry you hit. That's a sign it's your turn to parry back. Once you successfully parry back, you attack attack parry again. Try to lock him into an attack attack parry attack attack parry attack attack parry loop. However, he would be too easy if that's all he does. On your second attack, sometimes he will do 1 of 3 things. He either pulls back and does the floating passage (it's a 7 hit combo), slide backward and then arrow you several times, or he'll jump really high and strike down. The first 2 are easy to defend, the last move is trickier. When he does the high jump attack, he'll either follow up with a perilous sweep or a thrust. In phase 1, there's a 90% chance (rough estimate) that he'll thrust. Mikiri counter. In phase 2, there's a 90% chance he'll sweep. Headstomp him. Learn to look for the glowing spark on Genichiro's sword when he lands from the high jump attack. It's position will tell you whether it's a thrust or a sweep. If you don't want to worry about that, just remember the phase and what he's most likely to do. Watch the 3:37 segment in the video. I briefly show off how I fight Genichiro there. For his final phase, his defense is a lot looser and will take more direct hits from your sword. Try attack attack, take a brief pause, then if he doesn't do anything, do another attack attack, take a brief pause. The pause is to see if he does the thunder move. At the end of the day, you just gotta practice and observe his fights. Try watching someone's first playthrough against him and then a pro's fight against him to compare. Strictly watching a pro might not always be the best.
Genichiro might be the community’s most agreed boss that is fun to fight cuz he’s aggressive and doesn’t sit around. And fav of mine too. I was struggling at first too but once you get into his rhythm then it’s a dance. Btw you can jump and spam attack when he uses his lightning to attack him back with it
I don't know dude, it might be that i have wooden fingers. I just can't get it, which is a shame because it's such a great title, and it does give you that sense of satisfaction when you manage to pull something off.
If it makes you feel any better, I fumbled with the controls when I first start out as well. It takes a lot of practice to get it down to muscle memory. That said, not everyone wants to do that, and I get it. Not every game is for everyone.
@Dinosaur_Arcade Might not be for me. Still, a great title. I beat DS3 and Elden Ring, but this one, at least for me, is on a different level.
Used to love these videos, glad the algorithm decided to reintroduce me tonight.
Been waiting on this one, happy it paid off. I do lie Path of Radiance but I prefer Radiant Dawn for one reason: I could play RD one handed with a vertical Wiimote
Nice video but I felt it quite rushed. Still cool to see the past reaction of the community.
@@Kratos-xp2qi I cut stuff partly because I find them extremely boring to talk about. Some of it is partly saved for the next one cause mechanically, it's not that different. Stuff like past reaction from the community is more interesting to talk about. People might have forgotten about this stuff. The info from Terranigma Freak has been sitting in my PC since 2019.
@Dinosaur_Arcade I guess I was expecting the usual comments about smash, how Roy is perceived and a little more about the plot. But thats fine, looking forward for the next entries.
@@Kratos-xp2qi Not sure why I would talk about Roy. He's not even in this game. Ike isn't in Smash until the Wii. Some plot stuff was definitely left out for the next episode. For example, the serenes massacre is only briefly mentioned because it'll play a bigger role in the next game.
@Dinosaur_Arcade Got it. See ya next video.
@@Kratos-xp2qi BTW, I realized you probably meant Roy in Melee, right? If that the case, I would have talked about him during the Sword of Seals episode simply because I like to cover things chronologically. That said, thinking about it now, I didn't really talk about Roy and Marth's Smash appearance before. I do have interesting stories and reactions. So it's not a bad idea. Let me see where I can fit that into the series.
Worth the wait 😁
@@dagmus I wouldn't go that far.
Man, when I used to watch these videos, we weren't sure we'd ever get new Fire Emblem games, as the series went temporarily back to Japan only. Now there are several more to cover!
Wow! Talk about a nickel in the way back machine. Has it been over a decade since the last retrospective?
No, the last one was in either 2016 or 2017.
So a little behind the scenes trivia. I wasn't sure how to properly present this game's graphics. It's no secret that I use an emulator to record my footage. It's just easier for a game like Fire Emblem. The problem was that I've started uploading video in HD, but the game was in 480p. Years ago, my PC wasn't strong enough to run the emulation smoothly. When I finally got a good enough PC, I decided to crank the internal resolution to 1080p to make the game look better. It looks nice, except it's not truthful to how the game looked. I recorded some 1080p footage, but I started to have second thoughts. I even considered making this video in 480p. Then I remembered the DF Retro video on Metroid Prime. That was also a Gamecube game. They probably recorded it with real hardware ran through an upscaler. I can easily mimic that with the emulator. They were able to present the game's visuas more honestly. I took a while to decide on whether I wanted to delete all that footage and re-record everything. It was a lot of work down the drain. I eventually settled on presenting the game's graphics more honestly. I deleted everything and re-recorded all the footage.
Its been so long.... i found these videos back in like 2014, would listen to them on my phone while grinding in sacred stones.
It’s been a million years. Glad you’re back.
@@Alvosploio 66.5 million years to be precise.
They were worried people would hate the Laguz, so they added Shinon to show they were still haters too.
Oh hey, pleasant surprise to see this series revived again.
Good to see you back! Yours was the first real Fire Emblem retrospective I watched back when I first got into the series.
Yippie!!
Once again, I have been genuinely hyped for this one for many years now. Thank you for continuing to make these videos!
return of the goat; I saw your first video when I was 14 in middle school; now I'm almost 30 and still wondered if this would ever continue. back then, no one cared about FE and it was amazing to see young me see such a well made retrospective for my favorite series. your work had a huge impact on me; thanks for all you do and for not giving up on the series!!
Great to be seeing new content from you again.
Funny you say this. I also just updated Dinosaur News Center as well.

Not gon lie, but after getting my ass kicked by the mf at Ashina gate, I watched your tips and deleted the mf in the very next attempt lol
@@LuuVinhThinh Nice! I thought that boss was a lot of fun to fight even during my first playthrough.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Ultimate guide was missing these points for sure. I’m gonna try the rhythm thing this weekend
@@frstbite5157 Good luck!
Update on the situation. Was able to beat lady butterfly on my 3rd try. Thanks for the vid again
@@frstbite5157 That’s amazing!
Additional tip for this I have not seen is using air dodge is not effected by weight
i just started playing this game. and still learning the combat mechanics. coming from playing elden ring, demon's souls, bloodborne, this is a totally new experience for me
@@GamerNurseGale I might have an advantage since I'm not a Souls player. I touched the PC version of DS1 back in 2011 but I didn't like the controls.
