    Most of these were very meaningful and touched me deeply. However, as an old woman who has experienced suffering from being pushed aside only because of gender, When the narrator speaks of “brothers” as the only important humans, it hits me hard.

    Ancient Native American wisdom! Can any of these great quotes be credited to certain nations and elders? Have lived among the remaining Wampanoag native Americans on Cape Cod i.e. the Nauset natives and spent summers at my late grandmother's house built in 1776, in a neighborhood called "Weeset", many Wampanoag names here on streets etc. The first landing of the Mayflower was in Provincetown Harbor before they crossed over Cape Cod Bay to Plymouth, originally spelled "Plimoth", . Have forebears who have been here since the 1600s and 1700s who fought in the Revolutionary War, three of them generals. Went to the annual Pow Wow in Mashpee and sat with the elders and ate authentic Native American food i.e. buffalo, over 500 nations represented there with native American dancing, drumming and music along with their crafts. Also, First Encounter Beach in Eastham is where the pilgrims first encountered the Wampanoags/Nauset natives, went to a commeration of that back in the 1950s when I was growing up. ==Watch the documentary, Dangerous Crossing", the true story of the Mayflower and the Wampanoags, the main character who plays a Wampanoag leader is the one I met. Also, grew up wearing Wampanoag jewelry, made from Quahog shells, with purple and lavender coloring, beautiful also sold at their annual Pow Wow. Have also sat on a social justice committee with the Wampanoags with the local Unitarian church. Thanks for shaing these, much appreciated.

    It's nice Indians concentrated on life lessons instead of wasting time on other accomplishments like fine art, technologies, architecture. medicine, political science, exploration, writing, metallurgy, culinary production, transportation, landscaping, inventions, city planning, science, sophisticated music, fabric manufacture and fashion, comedy, housing, and diplomacy.

    • @NanaBren
      @NanaBren 5 місяців тому

      The indigenous peoples had forms of art, medicine, music, comedy, and religion based on their own culture. The white settlers had to learn from them how to survive and conserve resources. They had different styles of housing, were better explorers and knew the land. Why should they landscape what the Creator already designed? Some of the textiles they produced have lasted hundreds of years. What need would such advanced people have for vanities, politicians, fancy cars and symbols of so called civilization that corrupts and causes greed and destruction? If you believe that indigenous peoples were “wasting time”, then you have not understood a single thing about the accomplishments of this culture! Perhaps more information and an open mind would help you understand.

      @@NanaBren Yes, we have seen Indian comedy all over the place. (sarc). Their religion is virtually the same as animal-based ones by primitive early civilizations - and they weren't exactly benefitted by worship. Or put another way, their Great Spirit hasn't helped their culture much. From my studies of art in college I learned that Indian "art" stayed the same for thousands of years - during the middle Ages when Europeans were taking fine art to new heights which are still considered such, American Indians were finger painting the equivalent of first grader efforts. You ask "Why should they landscape what the Creator already designed?" Because humans are capable of abstract thinking which allow them to do the great things they're capable of. To understand nature instead of just fearing it or existing like animals. And if they could develop modern medicine they wouldn't have had so many die from disease. You also ask "What need would such advanced people have for vanities, politicians, fancy cars and symbols of so called civilization that corrupts and causes greed and destruction?" If you watch You Tube videos about today's Indians you'll see them using the white man's inventions and societal evolutions all over the place. In fact, very early on, American Indians found use for European horses and guns to allow them to benefit from buffalo hunting. Finally, Indians of today - who have remained primitive as you advocate - basically complain about life on their reservations. Yes, I know you will bring up the hardships brought by their mistreatment. But I should also point out that Indians in general highly value warriors. However history has shown that the white man was overall, much better at that.

    • @NanaBren
      @NanaBren 5 місяців тому

      @darz3829 so what you’re saying is that Indians are lesser forms of homo sapiens? That they are basically still the savages once thought of them? Because they have a different culture, religion, work ethic, and lack ambition, they are not as advanced as, say, you for example? Hmmmm. Interesting stuff.

    We must? Great quotes but don't forget these "wise" people sold land for beads and alcohol. Also, it is historically inaccurate that these people lived in peace. They were in constant warfare with one another, enslaved each other, and some even commited genocide. Be mad all you want, it's the truth.

    I live by their beliefs have most of my life. I have faith not in man ,I walk my own path. The way of life for we natives is very similar to what the Bible teaches. Natives live closest to the simplicities of the earth and are one with it and our Creator.
