DIY Space Clock / Arduino Servo Clock. Arduino Simple Projects
Hello, creative makers! We're back with another exciting project. This time, I wanted to create a simple yet captivating clock. What could be more mesmerizing than the vast universe? Drawing inspiration from space, I brainstormed and came up with a unique design featuring a rocket and an astronaut as the hour and minute hands. The clock is straightforward: servo motors drive the hour and minute hands, and an RTC module fetches the time, all controlled by an Arduino.
So what are you waiting for? Let's make this awesome clock!

    Great project! Aside the MPR121 having more input pins, is there any advantage to using the MPR121 over the ESP32s built in touch sensor pins?

    • @MISFITMAKER

      Yes, MPR121 provides built-in filtering and debouncing mechanisms to reduce noise and false touches.

    Pretty cool. I'm looking at making a thin lightweight qwerty keyboard using the same sensor, do you think there is a way to filter out presses from nearby buttons? I'm also trying to figure out how to make buttons that give tactile feedback but weigh very little.

    • @MISFITMAKER
      @MISFITMAKER 5 місяців тому

      If you are using multiple MPR-121s for your build, simply ensuring that the input wires of the MPR-121 remain untangled and establishing solid contact points for each key would be enough to differentiate individual key presses. Otherwise, you can make use of techniques like capacitive touch sensing with a matrix layout to filter out presses from nearby buttons. And as for tactile feedback, my suggestion is to make use of haptic feedback using a vibration motor similar to those used in our smartphones.

    great idea ...thank you ...did you test it for other materials? also i saw that it kept small pieces not cut ...is that normal or there is a solution for that?

    • @MISFITMAKER
      @MISFITMAKER 2 роки тому

      As you can see, the CNC is made out of printer parts. Thus, the undercuts are caused by axis deflections as it isn't sturdy enough to support them. It wouldn't be an issue for a rigid CNC machine.

      Actually, it should be kept a bit offset from the axis of rotation. As a result of this offset, the blade will remain pointed at a tangent to the direction of motion.

    Even if it is probably not very efficient, it is a very nice hack. Plenty of ideas and tricks there. If I reproduce something like that I would be concerned about the counterweight on the motor axis, on how to balance it with the load.
