That's shocking so many snags we never have this many problems in Ireland it's just unacceptable after paying so much money for a property are there no regulations in place to make sure work is carried out properly

Why bother paying the bloody council tax then. If the councils ain't gonna adopt the land, they need to be adding council tax reductions

the issue is that leasehold is a mill stone and thanks to the reform bill, which still hasn't happened cos NO politicians keep their word - it'll be another two years or more before i can sell a place that i've been trapped in for eleven years already when i expected to be able to move after three years.

‘Fleecehold’ is a trite slang word which detracts from the actual message from Leaseholders and will confuse the public IMHO.

Paying council tax and maintenance fees we pay and get no help.The council blames the landlords and landlords blame the council so who ends up doing the work and paying for it the leaseholder.

Feeble updates will not do.

A lot of angry people complaining about paying for work that needs doing that someone needs to do?? - if you live in a block of flats the management fees are even higher. it’s the council not Barratt that should be spoken to as council tax is being paid. The govt wants more property built so should account for maintenance of the land! If I move into a home like this my first move is contacting local govt to appeal them refusing to maintain the land.

the next scandal will be the estate charges that are placed on newbuilds with even less protections than leaseholders, the whole system is broken

The one good thing that this lot could reform is this act. It will benefit the proprietor rather than the leaseholder if done correctly

i bought my flat eleven years ago, the plan was to sell and move on when my son finished school, that came and went, it's hard enough selling a retirement flat, it's harder when the service charge is high, it's harder still when the management company has an awful reputation, but now it's been made even harder thanks to advertising all this wthi the leasehold reform bill - it needs to be fixed, i haven't had a viewing for at least two years and now the reform bill is being messed around i shall probably die before i can move (i'm 70 and would really like to not be living in croydon thanks very much) this has become an open prison for me. i;m not surprised gove back peddled on his promises, and really i;m not surprised taht labour are dicking about - that's why i voted green this time.

But when how more do we need to wait ?

Leasehold is getting a mortgage to live in a flat that u don’t ever own. It’s the biggest scandal ever! I wish I stuck to renting the flat instead because I would have more options and freedom. I have cancer and am stuck in a nightmare of charges and the freeholder takes zero responsibility of repairs to the building and expect me to pay for a building they legally own!!! I just want to scream
