United Kingdom
Приєднався 8 лип 2018
This National Leasehold Campaign has been created to highlight the current Leasehold / Freehold & Fleecehold Scandal that many home owners nationwide are totally unaware of.
The overall aim of this campaign is to abolish ALL residential leasehold and convert them into freehold (houses) or commonhold (flats/blocks of flats).
It's an opportunity for us to share experiences of the process so far, highlight discrepancies (which there are many) and stand united in fighting this unfair situation that has been forced upon each and every one of us.
www.leaseholdknowledge.com are working tirelessly in Parliament and with MPs to hold property developers accountable for this unnecessary situation we are in.

The Leasehold scenario is an example of the bow to "continuity."as is the very bloated monarchy.
The question is: did Persimmons design this leasehold in alignment with the usurious bankers.
You don’t need to campaign for this, you need to call out usury.
The usurious bankers are to blame.
This is a problem that could easily be fixed instead of sending my tax money to Ukraine you can build more affordable housing…
Cameron simply LIED. As a housing association tenant of 20+ years, I was told by my H/A that 'as your rented property was built before/after X date, we are exempt from selling it to you'. I wrote to the minister of housing and they confirmed it and told me to 'keep up to date on checking back as this policy may change in the future'. Pah!. This was the only reason I voted for Cameron. But, I have to remember, politics and bull-crud go hand in hand. I console myself with remembering that I am at least in affordable housing. I truly feel for those people in private rented. OMG the prices their are shocking. Should be illegal.
Perhaps if the governments stopped spending money on woke ideas they could use the money to build more public housing,
i’m 47, white English male, I’ve given up the idea i’ll own a property in this country.
The leasehold houses scandal is absolutely shocking, the beneficiaries of that scam need to be required to pay every penny they stole back, and face prison as a deterrent for their disgusting crimes against humanity
Scumbags like Patel and Braverman would rather look at how to strip British citizenship instead of looking at how to strip land from these bloodsucking developers and freeholders. Ultimately, parliament is supreme. Starmer could positvely turn around his tenure if he effectively reformed this issue but he is just as incompetent as his predecessors.
To answer your question, the reason parliament and government do so little and are so slow on reform of the leasehold and rental systems is because so many politicians have their fingers in the pie. Some of the biggest landlords are our politicians. They aren't going to do much to change a system that benefits them.
This is why I'm so happy that when I was in my teens in the late 90s early 00s, my parents explained it all to me and told me to never have anything to do with leasehold property. So when it finally came to me purchasing my own first home, I had a choice between some expensive new build houses that didn't even need a lick of paint, but they were leasehold or I could buy a 70k, 50s built, 3 bedroom semi that was a freehold property but needed fixing up, I chose the latter option. I have just fixed things up as I have gone along and been able to afford to do jobs on my property. The advantages are that not only does it add value to the property, but it also adds equity, and I know every mortgage payment of £309 that I'm actually buying bricks and mortar. Something I can pass on in a will. I just wish more people had the knowledge that I was taught when I was young and leasehold would die a natural death because people wouldn't touch them to begin with.
Well you voted out and look what’s happening that’s why I don’t vote they lie to you to make you vote for ish that ain’t even helping you. I hate all governments they are evil. They do not care about anyone’s well being
Housing crisis is an unmitigated disaster
This was really interesting to watch. I own a shared-ownership house 50%, total house was 190,000. It's lovely and well-designed! And had zero issues with my housing association and they give me lots of freedoms really, obvious some rules and major changes have to be checked, but its usually permanent structure stuff. My rent only goes up based on how like your mobile contract goes up, so small difference and my wage increases in April cover it. However, I can defo see how it is a bad thing and overall it's highly possible you will never own 100% of your own home, even if you could staircase, you have additional fees and stuff to follow as well as the cost of doing it and of course the freehold purchase issue, the way I see it, it's a way of building positive equity before you move on! But I do love my home, my area and the condition of the house is amazing! and very well built, so who knows, but...it's defo part of the problem and not a solution.
Mad system !
The landlords and estate agents have milked it for many years, this is what is pushing prices up and up, start capping the rents, bring back housing officers to check the property before people move in to set a fair rent price.
The exploding population started by Blair certainly hasn't helped.
Rent rent rent
Don’t buy it’s a con, in later life if you end up in a care home they take everything, but if you rent and end up in a care home you get EVERTHING.
Basically u didn’t buy the flat …u just renting it…only in uk
It's now 2025, I pay £4,000 a year for a bed bed flat in a 1960s block of flats. Criminal
This lease hold situation is both shameful and disgusting
and no conveyancing solicitor advised their clients about he pitfalls of leaseholds?? And now we have estate service charges, non adoption by local councils, all semi hidden escalating costs. Mis-selling on a massive scale
Brexit, FARAGE you have make the UK poor
I moved into an area with a lot of houses where they didn’t own the land lease.. they even cut costs by filling up all the gardens with building rubble then trying to grass over them… I wasn’t really shocked.
They didn’t care about the tower… even now there are still many many builds waiting to have the fire cladding removed… they don’t give a stuff.. never did, never will.
My landlord a very extremely ignorant vile person has brought up to about 100 houses in my area dirt cheap and looks after none of them…The council don’t care.. even after health inspections he didn’t fix the work even though it was at risk to life.
It was a load of fat cats, yet again exploiting the low payed people… try and by your home.. a few years later oh your bank takes back the house and sells in to big bucks people… and then rent it back at the cost 2/3 times what it was. Vile.
The biggest problem is the sense of entitlement you lot have. You believe you deserve to get everything for free. All paid for by others who work very hard and get nothing, while you scumbags do nothing, yet you get free homes and funds. Disgusting.
As long as it doesn't affect house prices
Rich people creating the problem to profit off it you would think us peasants will learn from history
Anybody with a brain can tell you that this should be outlawed. It hasn’t because people are becoming fat of the backs of hard working people.
It's amazing that very few Brits have figured out what the real problem is. It's not outsiders who a causing most of Britain's problem. They need to look within. Too many Brits are living on benefits. They are sitting on their arses complaining about foreigners who are actually working and paying taxes. Those taxes are paying pensions and benefits.
It's not gonna go away . Do to having so many flats in the UK. It's gone too far at this point. As I understand to get rid of leasehold flats government would have to pay billions to the landlords and i don't believe they ll do that. They trying to do damage control by making landlords to make sure they r transparent about service charge, but its not gonna work. Leasehold flats r one of the biggest scams in the UK. I can only imagine how difficult is to sell a flat do to service charges.
the help to buy scheme is rubbish. we have the scheme heere in australia. It's purpose is to protect banks not help people. keeping the house prices high helps banks during economic downturn as we saw in the case of america when the housing market crashed. S simple solution to housing is to adopt a singapore approach to housing where governemnt builds house as non for profit. The property can never be sold lower or higher than what it was paid for. The issue is the media pushs agaisnt this saying your not building equity etc, this is missleading and causing the problem too. Our easist solution is to kick these arseholes out and put someone in who will adopt this policy
Lack of housing, like most other social problems, can be traced back to one person, Thatcher, she destroyed the country and the Conservative Party, and her malign influence will continue to damage this country until long after I'm gone. For information, I was brought up in a Tory household and voted Tory until the early '80s when I started to understand Thatcher's intentions.
WEF objective is to never allow people to own anything!! As per Klaus quote! Labour is under the tutelage of W.E.F. 2016 Agneda!! It’s all coming to light as this should have been abolished ages ago!! We are being played!!
Typical BBC, 60 minutes of blah blah blah and not a mention of the 7,5 million net migrants into the UK since 2000! in any market you have a supply and a demand side of the story. Not to mention the elephant in the room is pure gas lighting. Also, when they talk about how house prices went up so much after the lockdowns, well, houses with gardens went up, apartments in cities, in many areas, have stagnated for the last 5 years. Yes, there are many issues with housing. The whole leasehold system has to be abolished asap. Housing Associations do nothing to control service charges. And the lists goes on and on .... but let's put all the relevant issues on the table, cannot have a serious conversation without mentioning those extra 7,5 million people.
In my understanding it wasn't the cladding that caused the fire. I haven't heard any explanation of how the fire had started. All you hear is that the problem was the cladding. The fire was caused apparently, by someone ran off and left a fat fire burn in a pan.lots of factors must of contributed to how quickly the fire spread and the speed of the emergency services being called and the speed of response to put it out. There are lots of buildings around the country with similar cladding, but they haven't caught fire. All this has achieved is to highlight the lack of maintenance and corner cutting. This in turn shows the downside of leasehold properties and it's abuse.
Conservatives win in the end. The right to buy has crippled the housing market and instead of actually building more housing, the conservative government has instead reaped short term benefits through implementing an extension through right to buy. I believe the long-term benefit is that conservatives want the social housing section to be demolished so it takes off a burden from the government. Conservatives want a return to laissaiz fair type of welfare where it’s all on the individual to fend for themselves. If you can’t afford housing because your job doesn’t pay enough, well tough. Sleep on the streets. As much as I despise this Labour government, undoing the mistakes made by the conservatives seem highly unlikely. The UK is heading towards anarchy if something doesn’t change.
Sounds like persimmon intentionally left the roads unfinished in order for them to not be adopted by the LA, so they could pass the estate management contract to Remus, who they're probably taking backhanders from. Once that was done, they finished the roads.
They invited Half the Third World Filth into OUR Country Thats what went Wrong. Because of All these Bastards in Government.
So easy to fix this. Lease renewal automatic and should be 1 or 2% of properties value, insurance and service charges should be no more than the average costs for these on the open market, as the freeholders will get a bulk discount on these services they can easily make a profit on this. Charges submitted to an ombudsman, excessive charges rejected with freeholders having the right to appeal if evidence provided for exceptional circumstances. Freeholders being under the same rules as private landlords which is what they are and responsible for EPC and safe mold free homes or face sanctions. Problem is many of the parasites that feed off leaseholders sit in the house of Lords and have been for a 1000 years so they'll block any reform. Sadly wealth is not earned it is extracted and these freeholders know they don't have the skills or dedication to make money morally or honestly so they'll close ranks as with any parasite they'll die without a host to feed on.
Stop so much immigration you wouldn't need so much housing
The house of Lords and the monarchy have been funding themselves on leaseholders for a1000 years is it any wonder legislation to reform the parasitic nature of the system is blocked.
Perhaps importing yet more people might help fix the problem?
Well It's bloody obvious.... Muslims
I struggle to have sympathy with anyone who buys a leasehold property. Like any investment you need to go onto it with your eyes open.
yeah, but consider that person is a bit dim and doesnt understand lease means to rent.
@Christina-g4s Stupidly is no excuse.
if all you can afford is a flat on a shared ownership agreement it's 100% on leasehold deals - yeah, terrible, it should be abolished pronto -
unfettered migrants, asylum seekers, Russian and Asian bulk property investing. 62 million people in the UK now compared to 58 million 30 years ago. there's the problem to the housing shortage! too many people now chasing too few a property, which drives up the price.
