Antenna Pines: The Best View in Arkansas (And Another Injury?) Cursed HIH Trail
In 2022, I hiked Antenna Pines for the first time and ended up breaking my finger. This time, I returned for some climbing and a redemption hike-only to twist my ankle along the way. What was supposed to be a 7-mile trek turned into a 9.5-mile adventure with some unexpected challenges. But was it worth it? Absolutely. Antenna Pines offers one of the best views in Arkansas! Join me as I take on the rugged terrain, relive old memories, and push through another wild journey.

We have floated the buffalo annually since 2012. That stretch is wonderful when water levels allow. For multi-day long haulers I would say the entire river is amazing. The middle river is still beautiful with The Nars just before woolum is a special treat, but slows the pace a bit for less maneuverable setup. The ultimate in getting away from the crowd is the lower from Rush to The White River can make a 3-day with Wildife, gentle pace, amazing camp views.
Very nice area, bet it's beautiful in the Spring and also in Autumn when the leaves change. Howdy neighbor, I'm in middle TN.
@daytimedreaming8307 thanks for watching!
I LOVE the Buffalo river!! . What was the date when yall was there? Great video! Your camera made it look like real life. ! Thanks
@gatormcclusky1 thanks for watching! This particular video is actually the Kings River. Some folks like to call it "the hidden buffalo river". This video was shot the first week of June in 2024. My other two long float videos are of the upper buffalo river. We floated two separate weekends in May 2024
Love this! Looks like “cold” fun!
It was a great day in the snow!
Beautiful!
Wow, you are correct in stating what a gorgeous run this is. I'll have to try it this summer. Clear water, nice cliffs, quick current. Love it.
Nice looking river. Looks like you guys enjoyed the trip. Thanks fir sharing.
@@DennyT71 thanks for watching!
rolling good for "new to the sport" . Gonna add this to my list of places to check out. Looks like good XC training too. OK, we gotta talk about your excessive gear changes. A longer conversation for sure. Good vid dude .
@@pedalwithus thanks for watching! They hosted an XC race a few weekends ago. Great spot for training for sure. They have also added quite a few black diamond runs
My most adventurous year yet!!! Can’t wait for ‘25
Looks like great year! Looking forward to you sharing your 2025 trips!❤
Yo I’m going to hcr any tips on what I should climb
There are classics all over the canyon! What type and grade of climbing are you going for? North 40 has highest concentration if easy sport routes. West side has all the good trad crack climbs. East side has some taller climbing and lost of great classics.
Have you ever fished this section? Reminds me of the Caddo just a little more rock formations.
@alank808 my brother and I both fished on this trip. Caught several blue gill and bass. Amazing stretch of river. Thanks for watching!
Enjoy your videos, nice touch with Tool “Intension” from “10,000 Days”. Hope you’re enjoying your Roscoe, I have an eight.
Thanks for watching!

hey mate great video. can you please tell me the make and model of your life jacket .

They seem to run a little big, but I'm happy with it
You think this boat can handle a trolling motor and battery? I’m about to find out. Haha
I think it could handle it if you found a good way to mount the motor. I don't have experience in this area so I don't have any insight to offer. I would be curious to see how that works!
I've done this exact location and love it
Is Mo'Beta still for sale anywhere? I've heard different answers and haven't been able to find any
Zenith climbing center in spfd, MO has had then in stock in recent months. Seems to be sold out online
Interesting, good to know! May try contacting them. Thanks Colby!
Dope. That's 10 min from home. Love the caves along this stretch
Super cool view - do you mind sharing?
This is near the Cecil Cove loop. Up the road a ways.
Fantastic scenery man! Place looks spectacular
It is a beautiful place for sure! Thanks for watching!
Where was this??
North Central Arkansas near the upper Buffalo River. Its off the beaten path. Thanks for watching!
@ thanks for clearing that out! Haven’t been out there to climb yet, but the rock looks great!
ARE YOU A DWARF ?
Don't think so
POS.... I GOT MINE FOR FREE IN PERFECT CONDITION, ABANDONED, EXCEPT SHIFTER WAS BROKE SO, UPGRADED TO NEW SHIFTER WITH SIGHT GLASS, CUSTOM COMFORTABLE LEATHER SEAT, CUSTOM DECALS, CUSTOM ALUMINUM PEDDLES, H-D KICK STAND, TOURING GRIPS, $140 BUCKS.....TASTEFULLY DONE. NOW I SHOULD RIDE IT ...OH YEAH....ITS A MONSTER TRACTOR
That’s awesome! It sounds like a great set up.
I float this section from Bennett to Barclay all the time and catch quite a few Rainbow Trout, it's a great river especially in the fall when it's not busy at all, there are a some hazards. That log at 25:45 seems new, but I think that uprooted tree on the left of it is new-ish also which makes it harder to get through there. I used to be able to go left there but I think it's blocked off now.
Thanks for the video. Got my Roscoe 7 and your video helped me getting it. Safe travels.
@@Mick1113 thanks for watching!
thank you lol
thanks for watching!
Is the first climb to the left of Green goblin in hcr?
@apsbond3432 No, this is a small new crag near jasper. The first route is called pumpkin pie
So what is your conclusion for climbing? Can it follow without anyone controlling it?
@samuellopca sometimes. If there are trees in the way or if the route is overhanging the drone won't be able to avoid those obstacles. However I've found plenty of situations where I will use it. Overall I'm happy with it. If you fly in manual mode and just place it in position , it will just hover .
@@colby_rogers have you tried increasing distance from you in the app so it clears the overhang? And what mode do you use?
@samuellopca I did try the far mode. The high far mode goes to high for overhang. But selecting the flat medium did alot better for climbing.
@@colby_rogers thanks, I will buy it soon as it seems to work!
We had 15-18 mph winds in Phoenix today and I was just doing some practice flying on manual mode and the NEO was struggling BIGLY.
Yeah, mine was unusable in high winds. I was expecting that with such a small drone
Thanks for your work on this. Will it track you from other positions such as flying beside you or in front of you?
It does have a mode that follows you from the front. I am not sure about the side track. I know if you have a remote for it, you can absolutely side track. I'll have to try these out this weekend. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Thanks for making it and sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
There will be further iterations of this drone which will iron out many of its imperfections.
I have no doubt you are right. Thanks for watching!
Isn't that an 8? Based on the color way and rockshox35. I just got my 8 and the blue was the only other color available. Nonetheless, a solid hardtail
It's the 2024 roscoe 7 in dark aquatic. The 8 is a different shade of blue. Same frame, very similar specs. Thanks for watching!
Oh wow! Very nice color. I didn't see that they had the 24 models. I just purchased my 8 for sale @1600 and wada steal. I'm currently breaking in the miles for my first time up from my lbs. a@@colby_rogers
@nor3phatch nice, thats a great deal! Enjoy the new ride! I still love riding my roscoe
I was wondering the water clarity there. Thank you!
Super clear! Beautiful river
Ain’t no bluffs on this river
Haha, yup, not a lot of rock. There are lots of fish and close to home, though
Nice job! I hate to be the keyboard belayer but I'd definitely recommend tidying up that knot a little by cinching it closer to your tie in points, and having a shorter tail end of the rope, or adding a stopper knot just to keep the tail end out of the way. Pretty easy when you're pumped to grab the tail end and clip that into a quickdraw by mistake! Happy climbing, and stay safe
You didn't loose the blue hat? Me my son jet you like 4 years ago I believe. On the upper current.
ROCK IS THE KEY 🤣
WHERE'S THIS!?!?
It was on the upper Gasconade river
Nice pictures of the river but the real treasures are up the short side canyons but it takes a week to see part of it. Just pick a couple each trip to see and you will be amazed.
Absolutely true! The buffalo has so much to offer. I've been going my entire life and still havnt seen it all
are you talking about getting out and hiking up the canyons/creeks and just checking it out? small creeks after a good rain are underrated.
I bought a metal water bottle at the thrift store for 50¢ and filled it with sand.
@MikeTellsIt nice, that's a great idea
Why did you go back down?
@DavyPete it's a tough climb haha I hadda fall
Location?
@@DavyPete north west arkansas
What do you do to keep him from spraying?
Just don't startle them. Skunks are fairly tame unless they are scared
Nice!
You are always showing the hidden gems - well appreciated
I can’t ever remember the name of that climb but it’s the scariest 5.9 ever. It looks chill on the ground but the bulge freaks me out every time
@taylorevans1642 it's called 'solid', fun route!
@@colby_rogers it’s always fun hitting the anchors lol. It’s not hard it’s just a commit move to stand off that bulge
@@taylorevans1642 yup exactly!
Cool video, will have to check out this undisclosed location now
