Yes I've been questioning their creativity for a while now especially with the latter end of the last generation. ASTRO bot is the last morsel of creativity. I stand by the fact that infamous is their best superhero franchise. The Insomniac spiderman games are generic Ubisoft style games... But prettier. The last of us was simple but fine. The Uncharted was a 3rd person cover shooter. God of war was a hack and slash. They had all those amazing platformers like Sly Cooper. FPS games like killzone. Their own souls game like bloodborne. Now God of war devolved into a generic last of us type story and even the upcoming wolverine is copy and paste of the Norse god of war series it's safe as f*ck with hold your hand QTEs

Maybe by the end of this generation PS will introduce some new worlds and characters that are their own. Games born on PS4 carried to PS5 are fine but PS5 needs its “new”.

Live Service multiplayer is the only interesting space in gaming right now. Almost all of the big innovations in gaming over the last 10 years happens in the GAAS space.

Never saying or said that these 2 games aren’t amazing and have original ideas just that having played games for long time you kind of see the same things over and over and it’s hard to be wowed anymore. Thats all!!!!

I think the mario title is gonna be mario kart 9. Odyssey was great dont get me wrong but to me it still doesn't give me that excitement of a galaxy game or sunshine or even 64. It was just different in a way or maybe i just got burnt out on mario for a while wonder was amazing tho it definitely better than any of the older Mario bros title. Expect for 3

Something I've found interesting about they're last two big platformer ips is that they're centered around the ps brand more than creating their own identities. Not to knock on the quality of little big planet or astro's playroom, but it's odd that they're more focused on highlighting other ip rather than creating a completely original world people can latch on to

For me, as an adult when this system was released, I always liked an underdog. It was a great system with the 3d glasses, the light gun, the horrifying controllers. Retro Gaming awesomeness young lad.

As a Tekken-fan: just compare Tekken 1 and Tekken 3. It is hard to believe that they run on the same hardware.

I don't think there were any triangles in any of those systems... until the Playstation 1. Well, apart from Starfox in 1993 was the first SNES games to use any polygons whatsoever and it was done with an additional processor inside the cartridge. Real 3D wasn't available in any consoles really until the Playstation generation of consoles. 8bit systems all used sprites and hand drawn bitmap images. I played a few Genesis/Mega Drive (in my country) as a kid. But as soon as I got a PC the advantages blew me away. Starting with an early system playing Doom etc.. The absolute BIGGEST impact any game ever had on me wasn't because of the graphics - it was because of the sound, actually. See, all previous systems used bleepy FM chips to make sound in only 4 or so layers. You might be surprised to learn that high-quality audio samples use FAR more space than graphics do. It's 10MB per minute for CD-Quality audio. And an entire Nintendo game, might gave only been 0.2MB or so.. When I got a CD-ROM drive, not only did it play CD-Quality soundtrack, but it was now large enough to store voice samples, so all the characters could speak and the sound effects were so much better too. I was first hit with this when one of the first games I got for PC was Command and Conquer. This might sound ridiculous - but I was so impressed with JUST the installer program, that I erased the whole game and re-installed it right after the install finished! Just because it was so awesome. The installer made it out that an AI war command interface was being set up on your computer, linking you to all the spy-satellites and putting you in command of your armies. Blew my mind! Then I was obsessed with the entire game. Like nothing I've ever played before. People have to realise that entirely new genres of gaming were being constantly invented. These days, everything is just a rehash, rip-off, copy of a previous game. But playing something so fresh and new, that has never been done before. There were some basic RTS games, but C&C perfected the game style completely. Also, in between missions were CGI cut-scenes. It was so futuristic, coming from playing Atari ST games and Sonic the Hedgehog!

I’d argue that, until the 360 and PS3, the buzzword was “Bits”, not polygons.
