Hi combat vet here... That's standard. They take up to 3 hits before the structural integrity gives way. I also wouldn't want fragments of hot lead and copper spalling in my face when it hits the steel. I prefer ceramic and dont get hit. It's lighter too

Is there enough space for a pistol? I carry a Sig Sauer P365X Macro with an optic. I've been in search for something to wear while backpacking/hiking. I can't carry on my waist because the backpack has thick straps that buckle in the front for support.
