Thanks. I use a product called Lepage Low-Odor Contact Cement. I believe it is only in Canada, but it is a white latex contact glue... a fairly generic product. Avoid regular contact glue -- the toxic stuff -- because it melts some types of tolex.

THIS is the PROPER technique (i.e., the way Fender has always done it) for finishing off the corners on a tweed amp. You'll see several YT videos by guys (who should know better) doing it the improper way - which is cutting the fabric at a 45-degree angle, resulting in a tacky corner that looks just like a wrapped present. Not good! For further reference as an example of the correct way, just pay particular attention to the corners of any new Fender tweed amp. Fender figured out from the get-go how to do this to achieve a very elegant, neat, finished-off look. This is the more difficult way to do it (because you're cutting right along the narrow curved-over transition between two opposing 90-degree surfaces), and that's why most guys "cheat" and just fold over the fabric like you would on a Christmas present wrapping. You NEVER want to be gigging with one of these things (esp. with their lack of corner protectors) in anything but a very controlled environment, and that's why they fell out of favor. But they are truly a work of art when done right.

You've done a bang-up 'Frankenstein' job on this amp. But, unlike the good doctor, what you made is actually more beautiful! 😂 I seem to be obsessed with this device, because it both is, and is not, a modeling amp (the 'little brother' to this amp, the Frontman 20g, can make every sound this one does, minus the effects.) The way it's flying off the shelves, it seems that Fender really hit onto something.

That would remove some of the microphones placement variables such as its directionality and proximity effect from the equation. Great video :)

It depends on what type of music, but I gig occasionally with 15 watt amps in small blues clubs with a sensible drummer and it is fine. If you're doing rock with a heavy hitter, you need something more powerful. A 3-prong cord is always a good idea for safety.

@@ptwamps3682 Yes, but . . . . If these were my amps the first thing I'd do is plug them up to a decent speaker, so I could judge what the amps sounds like apart from a speaker that was not considered as part of the design of the amp. They just used whatever they could readily and cheaply get their hands on. I'd be willing to bet that viewers preferences would change if these were all plugged up to the same quality speaker setup. I used all stock values per the schematic, except I used 22uF filter caps in place of the original 16uFs (with less filtering some ghost notes were appearing with single coil pickups). Make sure to ground the 4th (preamp) filter cap to the preamp bus NOT to the power supply ground (as shown on the original layout). Otherwise, you risk a massive ground loop. BTW: Optional, but on later builds I put all the filter caps inside the chassis by extending the circuit board. This works with newer / small F&T caps and saves the pain of using a doghouse.
