Located in the Pacific North West, Favourite Boatworks is a traditional wooden boatbuilding company specialized in wooden boat restoration, maintenance, interior design and construction. On this channel we're currently documenting the process and restoration of the historical ship The North Star of Herschel Island.
The North Star of Herschel Island is the last surviving Inuvialuit arctic fur trading ship, built in 1935 primarily as a motor vessel to transport arctic fox pelts, she was later modified as a square rigged ship. From 1968 to 1973 she was used for scientific expeditions in the Arctic Sea, she was later used to survey the British Columbia - Alaska border and was at one point commissioned by Cambridge University to search for mermaids in the north. She is a ship full of history and we're proud to be able to restore her and document the process for the world to see.

Restoring the North Star of Herschel Island - Trailer
Well done. Nice to see a well finished project!
20 years is to much for me. It is a life. I don’t think any result pays the price of waiting 20 years to start sailing. Better to sail any cheap fiberglass boat now than wait 20 years to sail a perfect boat.
👍🏻you had me at No Fiberglass
A dream boat for the NW!
Now that's a handsome transom !!
Simply stunningly beautiful
Very nice
A labour of love...magnificent...thanks for sharing...
You have built a beautiful boat with that Haida carving being the cherry on top! Happy sailing 🙂
Simply gorgeous - congratulations Guy and Estelle!
Wow, just wow! We are also building a gartside boat. Rainbear is big for 38ft! Very impressive effort, amazing.
Very nicely built in the true traditional method. Good strong rig. Gaff rig is nice for cruising. ( l had a gaff Spray one time). Well laid out interior is very well done. ⚓⛵But, with respect l would hesitate to say the Worlds best.
Tally Ho has you covered in most areas. Beautiful yacht just not the worlds best.
Nice boat, nice owner, nice video, well done all!
I know it had to be done but the toss of the old transom bit into the dumpster hurt just a bit...
It seems the only thing government is good at is planning so remember this next time it's plan and not Pan.
A proper, solid wooden boat. Outstanding craftsmanship and an achievement to be very proud of. Congratulations!
It sure is!
Beautiful.
Beautiful !!!!
Stunning boat, just lovely!
Thanks for taking the time to share your beautiful boat with us. Cheers!
fantastic! thank you for sharing
Awesome design. The open plan you went with should be a template for anyone. Very well designed. That's a true World Cruiser.
Lovely. Who was the designer, if I may ask?
Paul Gartside
The time invested and labor of love produced a very fine looking, ocean going vessel!
What a pretty boat😊
Very nice boat .... very well built and smart design.
lovely boat. Very well thought out and ideal for West Coast sailing
"my name is 'gee' Herron. What a pompous twat. Na mate it's GUY!
One of th most beautiful boats on the coast. I'm curious as to why she is for sale? Another project in the works?
Let Guy & Estelle know what you think about the boat! 👇
Beautiful nice and shiny
🎉
Great work, 99.9999999% of people could not do what you are working on.And that does not include the un-seen love you put in. Well done!!!!
Nice work on a rotten old boat.. Tune your guitar!
Yes, I would like to keep in touch as interesting project. However, while the making of videos may not have the same priority as the work progresses, as a viewer, and a subscriber, it would be helpful if it were possible to stick to a schedule, say every second week, rather than appearances seeming to be random. I am looking forward to ep 12. When is that due? Thanks.
I have been following from the start. It has been every other Friday at 6:00 pm pacific time. You can watch the episode live. They haven’t wavered on this by a minute.
@@Deanmachine667 Hi Dean, Thank you for your response. I have already seen ep11 about a week ago. May I ask when ep12 is scheduled for. Best. Ted
Sorry, I am being a wally, as you have already mentioned every other Friday. Thanks. Ted.
@@edwardtimberlake4646 Next video will be released tomorrow Friday, Next North Star Episode will be released June 7th!
@@FavouriteBoatworks Ok, so I now understand that next North Star episode, number 12, will be 7th June. The one showing on the 24th May is another boat, and not one that I am following, nice as it maybe. Now realise the videos are about Favourite Boatworks and whatever is happening there every other week, and not just focused on North Star. 🙂
Exceptional!❤
Hi, I'm still very impressed. Respect. I keep my fingers crossed for Poland.⛵⚓.
Lovely to see Maya there playing music with you guys! She's such a wonderful musician and videographer. I suspected you were both at the same yard - the trees and general setting looked the same.
I just found you and have subscribed. I read somewhere that u-tube quit keeping track of the "likes" and were only monitoring the comments. Glad you caught this. Cheers, great videos.
We're fighting against the algoritm and we're struggling to get our videos out to a larger audience, please consider LIKING, SUBSCRIBING and checking out our PATREON to make sure that we can keep producing videos long term!
You guys are the Real Deal. Keep up the awesome work.
2x6 framing on the lunch room! impressive...
I’m Not a boat builder but just curious why not bronze fasteners?

J aurais bien donner un billet pour récupérer la poupe du bateau comme objet de décoration.., la prochaine fois, appelez moi avant de la découper.., je vous paye la bière tout au long du chantier pour une telle pièce! Very nice work !
