Thanks for posting this. One of my great grandfathers died in this battle, and his son (another great grandfather who was 16 at the time) lived through it to go on and fight at the battle of honey hill in South Carolina. Hoping to make a trip there soon. He’s buried at a confederate cemetery near there.

I use to live there, They searched for a place that look Greece and Nashville was it.

Great video and lovely house but the kellers were wealthy..thats why they hired Ann sullivan at their home .the beauty and quality of furniture and bedrooms show they could pay annie Sullivan ..Helen was lucky in a way to be raised in a rich family .Not all deafblind children were raised that way..in lovely houses. Some families were poor and they sent their handicaped children in institutes like at boston .For instance Laura bridgman s parents were poor and sent her at perkins like many other children... Helen was privileged and she and Ann could travel and see many places..

😂 we built a replica using the same material the Greeks did during The Great Depression. That's what any Christian nation would do, build a temple to a pagan god immediately after WWI 😅 we built these temples in EVERY city at the same time. Why are all the old banks, post offices and other government buildings all Greek architecture?

I didn't realize there was that much flooding in that part of Ga. Helene really slammed southeast Ga and in some areas it might be weeks before they get power back. From Dublin to Savannah the damage is heart breaking.

My Grandmother was from Buttermilk bottom. My whole family is born and raised in Atlanta. I never really knew where exactly it was until a few years ago. But I remember her talking about it. Good story.

Both of my grandparents on Daddy’s side are buried here. We are the Barnwell and Goldsmith family. 8th generation Atlantan’s. Currently, I am 80 years of age. 9-20-2024.

@Ragtop Historian It is my understanding that the grave of Mary Phagan can be found by entering the gate on West Atlanta St. that is closest to Sandy Plains St. Then you take the third trail to the left and then look for first the Georgia Historical marker and then the black marker to the right of Little Mary's headstone. Is this true?

This isn't particularly accurate. Max did get a lot of heat before the festival from neighboring farms and townspeople, but the entire town pitched in when they found out there was a shortage of food, with townspeople getting together to make sandwiches by the thousands, making hard boiled eggs etc, anything they could get to the kids on the field. After the festival things settled back to normal for the town, and many enjoyed the notoriety afterwards, sold Woodstock "mementos" etc. Max had a vacation home in the Florida Keys that they went to every year. He decided to retire after a long career in farming (the Woodstock field was his alfalfa field...feed for his dairy cows) and retired to his home in the Keys. He did die young, which is sad, but it wasn't the neighbors or "the stress of Woodstock" that made that happen, and he wasn't "forced to sell". He was a hard-working man who decided he'd had enough and wanted to retire. But such is the internet, that folks will believe whatever is presented to them, and other folks will present information as truth without doing their full research. In the end, Max will be remembered in history as the man who made Woodstock possible, and the entire Woodstock Generation remembers him to this day. Peace and Love. :-)

I was there 62 63 64 I was with the 504th Airborne. I was the driver for the Batt. XO Lt. Col. Townsend. It was a long 3 yrs. As soon as I got back to the world I was sent to Vietnam. I had lots of fun and good times at good old Lee Barracks.

Great video…my mother’s family was from Rising Fawn and knew her. Very fond vivid childhood memories of going to the PlumNelly Art Show with my Mom on some beautiful October days…incredible scenery.
