I was very disappointed with harbor. Im in a country where there is little awareness of open source and privacy and most here use Facebook for everything. I verified a YT channel for over 8 months or so and it never got verified because I don't know anyone. So its just for a bunch of people in rich countries where there are larger communities of people caring about free speech, open source and privacy.

Is FUTO also exploring decentralized ID, verified credentials, and other such technologies?

Cool technology, but curious why change the name from Harbor to Futo ID.

Why does everyone want to use phones for things like this? I use Debian, not Android. Will I ever be able to use FUTO ID? I'm also a bit worried about anonymous accounts - if the users who vouch for me are known, it doesn't seem too difficult to narrow down to a few options. Even without that feature though, it is definitely worthwhile - or would be if it would run on my machine.

Can the data you are sending be traced back to your ip address and you? I know people that are using tor in countries that would kill them if they are caught. I know the old free net you could be traced and people were. Can you be traced back to your ip address and if so is there anything you can do to stop this. If you can be than this is useless to use. Anyone got any answer to this?

Will there be a native Synology app? I'm not tech savvy enough to go through the whole docker/github/ssh install stuff and even if I can get far enough to make it work, I need something that will be useable enough by family members. It looks great and I would really rather use Immich than Synology Photos, so keep up the good work.

Social media is downstream of the problem. It's about censorship at the cloud service provider level that actually matters. Like AWS censoring Parler in 2021. Gab got removed by Microsoft Azure back in 2018. Gab happened to be particularly robust but my point still stands as that's the bigger engineering hurdle for any website that hopes to have content at scale.

As for naming I like source first software and also the idea behind public source software but my favorite has to be fair software

I am happy to pay for open source software, as long as it is fairly priced, and respects me as a consumer. It's software that I can look into if I want to see how secure it really is, and customize if I want. And if things change, I can continue to rely on it by hosting it myself. I like things that don't take advantage of me, and that I can rely on not going away.

Infrastructure projects can attract funding from companies who produce applications, end user applications have a harder time. This is why we can have solid open source database but open source applications can miss a tonne of features.
