At the end of the day the outdoors is everyones shared space. They probably looked at you the same way you did them. I backpack long distance trails and never have i expected to camp alone. If it happens cool but if someone walks up also cool, we can talk and chances are probably have similar interests due to both being outside.

I have never camped in my life but if I ever did I probably would want to set up camp close to other people for safety reasons, maybe not that close but close enough, but of course I would ask them first.

This is nuts. This is why I bring my dogs. They're huge and look mean(125+lb male rottie and his sister who is 110)but they're actually very well behaved but others don't know that so they always stay clear when we're camping. Which is how I like it when I'm camping.

Looking for a place to pee. 😂 Take your lil Outdoor Sports backpack with your hammock bungee coarded to it... and just walk for like 12 hrs. Then walk back.... Then go farther every time. Funny how the locals who know the campers code best... Almost never camp. Or they would realize how ridiculous they sound. 😂

When I was 13-14 years old I was out camping at a lake with my grandpa and we had half a dozen drunk guys camping right beside us. I woke up in the middle of the night and pops wasn’t in his cot so I went outside to make sure he was ok and he was sitting by the fire with his axe in one hand. The drunks ran out of beer and decided to raid pops cooler and he heard the empties hit the ground when they knocked them off the cooler.he chased half of the into the water and sent the other half running towards their truck swinging that axe…good thing they ran to because you could shave with that axe and pops was 6’3” 220 lbs one hit would of sent them to the hospital or the grave…young bucks thought the old man and the teenager would be an easy mark but they were wrong 😂😂😂

It would have been a bummer if in the middle of the night all their tires somehow went flat… 🤔🤷‍♂️

If you had done just a little bit of research you would have found out that this is one of Scotland's top fishing marks has been for decades. If you had come here before the national parks took over you would have had a lot more folk there. I'm sure the other camper's would have told you of the history of this place if you had started your conversation with a positive rather than a negative. As you would have noticed camping is very very limited at this location. Hence why I only use a hammock as it gives more places to set up. The chaps could have been more approachable I'm sure but you are the one at this location without a rod. You may have the government right to do so. But that at times will come up against long held traditions and spots where other folk have been doing activities for generations. Hopefully you can learn from your bad experience and research for more suitable camping locations. We have plenty in Scotland that are far better than were you were. Or take a rod with you. And if you camp in the wild you cant expect privacy, It may be shit at times but that's the law. I always fine if you walk a mile away from car excess then you tend to get things to yourself.
