Universal M25XP K75 Motor Mount Upgrade Part 1
Переглядів 601Рік тому
Overview of the task at hand. Many people through bolt the new K75 motors mounts, but it doesn't look like I have any access to be able to do that.
Universal M25XP not getting full power. (1900 rpms only)

My Westerbeke Universal M-25XP is only getting 1900 RPMs at full throttle. Catalina 34. Looking for advice. For some reason the comments are disabled, I can’t figure it out.
It's probably easier to pull the head to do that water flange.
Maybe the motor only turns 1900? I like my MB 168F air cooled. Lighter and no salt water to break things.
nice boat..what year? I am in the market for one similar
Route planning to me always meant trying very hard to not have my wife think she was going to die. But to each his own. I always go into the intracoastal at Mexico Beach and then spend a few days at Apalachicola. Then make the overnight to Dunedin where we anchor. Then down the intracoastal to John's pass and out to the Keys. No distance is saved by going around the cape in my opinion since it is an area of strong currents and shifting sand bars.
I've done it 5 times like that, it's much easier and safe. You sail the entire time as opposed to motoring in your sailboat. Ya, no distance is saved, but who cares. I can get there in 48 hours and I prefer to sail my sailboat. The ICW is awful in a sailboat.
Love you tried as much as you could before motoring. Oh, and great music!!!
Thanks
Great video, Thanks.
Thanks
That would be the Choc-taw-hatchee not Choc-ta-whatchee. 😊
Ya, I mess that up often. 😢
Thats not a Gulf crossing. Just the Florida bend. And at Waypoint 12 you sailed right through the middle of the Elgin Air Force Base Restricted Zone at Cape San Blas. You have no clue what you're doing and much to learn.
That’s the line I plotted on Navionics, not the route in which we sailed. 5th time sailing to Tampa from Destin. Very familiar with the AF. 😂
keep adding content. Good job and stay safe. .
Thanks
Nicely done, thank you.
Appreciate it.
We prefer to call our area the Big Bend thank you. ❤
LOL, noted.
I live in St. Pete area. Some of the panhandle can be called an armpit, especially the area that Matt Gaetz represents. But be aware the Egmont Key is not pronounced "edge" mont, but "egg" mont.
Psst... Sailing from Destin to Tampa isn't "across the gulf" 😂
That’s what everyone calls it??? 😂
Um, yes it is. What do you know?
Great trip man! Happy to see it done! Sailing up to my hometown in Panama City has long been on our bucket list. We live in downtown St Pete where we have our Catalina 28 tied up. Weve been sailing all over Boca Ciega and Tampa Bay and Seafood Shack next to Cortez Bridge is one of our overnight absolute favs! Hopefully Brian is still working there, he was very helpful when we docked in crazy winds/current. If yall are still there, I strongly recommend Cortez Cafe down the road, 10 min walk....amazing biscuits and gravy and a good down home feel. Looking forward to your next vid! Safe Travels
Thanks. Yes a great area to cruise. Don’t think I can do a video for the ICW section because my phone went in the water and I lost a bunch of videos. Next step is crossing Okeechobee.
Nicely done. Trying to get out of the Gulf can be tough. The sea state is so often rolly and rough with rapidly changing wind. I'm currently sitting at anchor in Apalachicola waiting for a buddy boat to catch up before crossing to Tampa.
Nice place to be sitting at anchor… if you get ashore, check out Owl Cafe and the chocolate shop nearby.
Been to both already. lol.
We have already left but thanks for the advice. @@southernpaths2986
Nice, are you on a sailboat?
I’m still in the wishing stage... I’ve spent a lot of time in the Apalachicola/PSJ area though and love it. I’m actively working towards getting a boat but realistically it’s a few years away for me right now.
Hope you went to the Tide Table Restaurant across the street. You were actually south of Tampa Bay in Cortez . Manatee County. St. Pete would have been more fun.
We went all the way up to clearwater and are now down in Tarpon Point. Another video to come before we cross the cut to the east coast.
What's the air draft of the C34? My Hunter 310 lists 51', so I am only looking at slips in Destin Harbor.
It’s 48.5’. I cut the mast down to 47’ to get under the Destin Bridge. The bridge is labeled as 50’ but is really only 49’. With a South to North blow it goes to about 48’. A 51’ mast will not work. You would have to get in and out through Panama City on the OCW.
@@catalinadude6218 Yeah, for that reason I might just keep the boat in PC. How difficult is the Destin inlet? Channel depths OK? I've seen the tide fight the swell for some hairy results, but if 5.5' draft is dicey in the channel it sort of mutes everything.
You will be good to go with a 5'6" draft in the East Pass. It's like over 10' deep. It gets wavy due to the tide, current and large boats going through, but not bad.@@bernardp8397
I have a 5.5' draft and have no problems with the East Pass leaving Destin Florida.@@bernardp8397
Thanks for the video. I'm happy I found you. One comment though, as a lifelong resident of Tampa, you didn't come here. Technically you just touched the southern end of Tampa Bay, which is a very long sail to Tampa. You would have enjoyed a nights stay at St. Petersburg Municipal Marina right downtown though, a wonderful place. Consider that for next time? Thanks again for the videos.
😂
Hey there. I enjoyed this video and watched your previous ones as well... I'm assuming you figured out your power issue (topping out at1900 rpm's) from last year?
I actually didn’t do anything and it started to work again. So I’m not actually sure what was wrong.
Nice drone shot at the start bro and loved the sunset as you were docking. Cheers friend.
Seafoam is disaster! cleans the oil film between piston rings and cylinders so they move metal to metal.
Is it the governor ?
did you ever figure the problem out?
Governor spring was installed backwards.
@@catalinadude6218 where is the governor spring?
@@catalinadude6218perfect Cool channel! I have a lot of memories on a C22 and a capri 25
I have the same problem on the same engine. Just rebuilt the transmission, cleaned the fuel system and replaced the thermostat and sender. Now it wont go above 1900rpm. The last 1/4 of my throttle produces no extra RPM'S. Did you resolve this issue? Thanks
I'm having the same problem now, but I can hit 2000RPM. After that the last 1/4 of the throttle does nothing.
Maxwell, did you figure your issue out?
WE are have the opposite problem....boat runs at FULL TILT BOOGIE...seems injectors or governor is stuck? Any suggestions...where is the governor located?
I have the same engine with the same problem ever fix it?
It was the governor spring
Easy fix? I Didn’t even know what that is
Was the purpose of moving the timing chain cover to gain access to the valve above it? Was the cam, crank or chain touched what so ever? If it was, this may be the issue. Possibly re assembled with the timing off a few degrees which now manifests itself in loss of power. Just a thought.
To remove the gear case housing, I believe also requires removing the injector pump. If so, they may have mis-installed the governing springs. There are three springs to re-install: a start spring which has one end attached to the gear case housing itself, and the speed control springs which are actually TWO springs nestled one inside of each other which transmit the throttle command to the governor. If they forgot to install both of the speed springs (especially the heavier stronger spring), this would explain your problem. See this video to get an idea: ua-cam.com/video/Odd-41rclnE/v-deo.html
It was the governor spring. It had slipped off
