Ahhh A Short Stay in Hell is so good!! Any Man is fantastic too but such a brutal read I loveee David Sodergren but haven't read Dead Girl Blues yet so I'm glad to hear you liked it! My favorite by him is The Haar but you can't go wrong with any of his books in my opinion ❤️
Thank you for mentioning John Marrs! I had never heard of him. I read a couple of the synopses of his books on Amazon and they sound interesting.
hey Kala you beauty!! ♥️🫶🏻♥️ I Have Some Questions for You is really really good, I think you’ll love it x
Hi Amber. The moustache is one that I've added to my "must read" list after seeing you talk about it in a previous video. I also really like the sound of the Alperton Angels book. Oxfam books are expensive aren't they! I've never read anything by Emily Henry but I love how colourful her books are. If I've read an ebook that I love, I always try to collect the physical version too. Another great video.
ooo i hope you love them! i’m excited to read more emily henry because i loved happy place. it’s good to hear i’m not alone in collecting books i’ve already read! 🥰
hi..Very nice, I like your video, nice video
Last Thing to Burn is so dull isn't it, can't believe you hauled and unhauled your own copy in the time I was waiting to send you mine! ahaha, so sorry - at least it wasn't a new fav!
hahah don’t worry about it 🥰 it was such a disappointment anyway!
Hiya. I'm new to your channel, and new to the booktube side of things. I really enjoyed watching this. I love the sound of The Moustache. Quite intrigued by that one. A Court Of Thorns And Roses is one that I've picked up this week as it has been recommended to me for a book club read, and honestly, I'm not looking forward to it as I don't tend to like that type of book. But I'll give it a good go. I'm currently reading Christmas books. I'm a thriller/police procedural reader mainly and the book that I have on the go at the moment is The Killer's Christmas List by Chris Frost and I'm really enjoying it so far. Great video. I'm looking forward to watching more from you. Stacey xx
thank you for your lovely comment! a court of thorns and roses is definitely not something i would have chosen myself so i was pleasantly surprised 😊 i started off mainly as a thriller/police procedural girl too but i’ve been reading less of them lately, though i do still always go back to them. if you’ve not read it already then the christmas appeal by janice hallett is a lot of fun 🥰
@@_bookber Ooh fab thank you. I'll add it to my ever-expanding collection! I've just finished Eastgate by JD Kirk. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm hoping to branch into other genres now too, so I'll definitely give a court of thorns of roses a go.
The Road is one in a million, I’ve heard it’s good on audio too x
ooo i can imagine, i bet its bleak listening 🥲
Very nice..I like your video.Your voice is very nice.I am news channel journalist in India.
With the road I had the same thought! I’d rather be dead than survive that way
terrifying wasn’t it! 😩
Your voice is very unintentionally ASMR-ish!
you think?? haha i love that, i never thought my northern accent would be considered asmr 🤪 thank you!
I am your new subscriber.I am from India.I am news channel journalist in India...Very Nice great work
great work ! i found a some issue in your content ! do you want discuss about in details ?
great recommendations! I still need to send that Will Dean book - sorry! 😂
🤣🤣 i won’t lie i think i took it off my tbr on my last culling so don’t worry about it! but thank you lovely x
im having such an insane reading slump so this is perfect, I cant wait to check some of these books! (also love the new hair)
ahhh amazing! which ones are you interested in? and thank you so much ☺️
@@_bookber without a doubt, reservoir 13 it sounded so interesting! kill for me kill for you has also been added to the tbr
I’m so glad you loved Reservoir 13, I keep meaning to pick up the sequel and I’m definitely due a reread by now! In the Dream House is also the best ♥️
thank you so much for the recommendation!! i would never have picked it up otherwise. i’m also looking forward to the sequel! but also nervous because it was so good as it was ☺️
A short stay in hell stuck with me, turning reading books into a nightmare was not something I thought possible
aaah i’m glad it’s been so memorable for you! yes that’s exactly it, it’s sooo haunting
I’m so excited for you to read Know My Name, it’s a tough read but dude you’re gonna love it ♥️
I’m impressed that you remember books you DNF’d 8 years ago. I couldn’t even name all the books I chose to put down last year. Classics can definitely be a slog. I have found that splitting it between reading and listening on Audible has helped me get through some of the bigger ones. Just a thought. Enjoyed your video! 😊
i’ve been recording them on goodreads for years or i probably would forget! 🤣 ahhh that’s a good idea, i will definitely try this 🥰 thank you so much!
girl, no, if you only read 33% of Manacled, you need to finish it, there's a clear plot reason of why some of the action is skipped over, and you're missing out on some excellent scenes if you don't continue with it. also as someone who read manacled when it was a wip (im talking like... from chapter 8 or 9 i think i was up to date on it being uploaded), i guessed the plot twist pretty much immediately but it was so satisfying watching readers in the comments go from completely hating draco and being so vicious in their hatred of it... to seeing literal millions of people crying over the most heartbreaking story in a matter of years was quite satisying to me. ALSO sen is rewriting it as an original novel, due to so many people illegally selling hardcopies on etsy
ahh that’s interesting i might have to go back to it! 🥰
You're so beautiful
I’m so proud of you for finishing House of Leaves and summarising it so well! total commitment to go back and read it a second time so soon! A Short Stay in Hell sounds insanely good x
thank you! i was worried i was just waffling 🤣🤣🥰
I recently read a short stay in hell and it was both traumatising and amazing
I discovered your channel through this video. Isn't it interesting how "The House of Leaves" has taken on a life of its own on the internet? Wild read. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
I haven't heard of A Short Stay in Hell but it sounds fascinating!
such an underrated book! 😍
I had such high hopes for house of leaves but it was such a disappointment. Brilliant idea/ concept about the house but all the extras was just so dull and irrelevant to me. I feel the same about the effort taken vs the reward.
yesss exactly this! 🙌
Thanks for the catch up. I really hope to go back to Italy - such a lovely country. I liked Just Another Missing Person a bit more than you, but there's usually something in her books I find hard to believe. In this one it was the credulity of the Instagram account, but I get what you mean about the seniority of the detective. I like how she tries to do something different and original, though. It's a shame that House of Leaves didn't work out for you as well as you'd hoped, but what you said made me more interested to read it. I had Kate Folk's book on my radar, but you've increased my interest. I'll have to check out the Steve Cavanagh - he's usually pretty reliable page turner - and A Short Stay in Hell. A few Feb and Mar books I enjoyed that might appeal to you are There Is No Antimemetics Division by qntm (a sci-fi horror about memory loss), ESC&CTRL by Steve Hollyman (a metafictional mystery with a touch of Inception, set partly in Manchester), I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman (thought-provoking dystopian that offers no answers) and The Stranger Times by C.K. McDonnell (urban fantasy comedy also set in Manchester, whose audiobook narration is amazing).
i will definitely be going back soon hopefully, i’d love to go to sorrento and pompeii. i’m glad you liked just another missing person, you’re right about the instagram account though. i absolutely loved wrong place wrong time so i think i was overly comparing it to that. i’m pretty gutted about house of leaves but i think for the right person it could be so amazing and unique. i love that i didn’t put you off 🤣 i hope you enjoy the others that you like the sound of if you get round to them. oooo i recently added there is no antimemetics division to my tbr, i’ll definitely have to prioritise that! sounds properly up my street. i’ll have a look for esc&ctrl and the stranger times too, i read i who have never known men last year and think about it a lot still. thank you for the recs! 🥰
daisy jones has such a iuniue writing style did you see the twist coming
nooo not at all! i wasn’t expecting a twist so it took me by surprise 😅
The cockroaches on the Mrs March cover hits different when you've read the book haha. The ending was crazy but I also gave it a 3 stars, not my favourite!
Really great and varied list :) The long way to a small angry planet is a favourite book of mine (the whole series/the author in general, really) - there's definitely an overarching plot and some action, but it's largely focused on character interactions and world building/exploration, in my opinion. I do hope you enjoy it! (same with Station Eleven)
Very interesting review on “the prison dr”. That was on my list and now I’m not all that anxious to read it. Thanks 😀👍
So many great books to add to my list. Thanks.
Good to know your thoughts about “the memory police” because it was on my list and I’m not anxious to read it now. Thanks.
Reservoir 13 sounds so good. Thanks. Great video.
Ohhhh i have Mrs March in my tbr!!! Im so interested what i will think of it, i feel like ive been reading a lot of these kinds of reads lately and they can be hit or miss for me!! 😅
my copy of In the Dream House is highlighted too, my favourite book of all time. she’s a total genius, what a gut wrencher! so glad you loved Reservoir 13 xxxx
ahhh rly! it’s a proper gem, can’t wait to read through it again 😍 thank you for the rec i loved reservoir 13! 🥰
Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read. Isaiah 34:16
Animal by Lisa Taddeo is awful
🤣🤣 i guess i’ll have to wait and see!
Hope you enjoy them. Best wishes.
thank you! ☺️
I’ve read the devil and the dark water.. it was definitely worth it and the plot is filled with twists the ending is totally unpredictable
ooo that’s good to hear! i’m reading it now but it’s off to a slow start 🥲 hoping i get more invested as i go on!
I realllllly want to chexk out the devil and the dark water too but the length of the book definitely intimidates me a little 😅
i’m currently reading it so i’ll let you know how it goes!! ☺️
Bright Young Women sounds amazing! I gave up on the Station Eleven TV adaptation and don’t think I’ll read the book, I got a fair few episodes in and it still didn’t move past that basic synopsis, got so bored! I hope you love Reservoir 13 ♥️
doesn’t it! it sounds right up your street too 🤩 yeahhh i’m worried it’ll be boring so i hope at least the writing style is good. i just finished reading reservoir 13 and will be doing a wrap up video soon 👀 🥰
Ooooh! This is quite a list. You have a great variety, and I definitely will be reading 📚 at least 13 of these titles!
thank you lovely! ahhhh you have great taste 😜
Some interesting choices.I LOVED Tomorrow And Tomorrow..and Station Eleven is a must! I like the sound of Animal so I've added it to my list. Where will you be starting?
i picked up reservoir 13 soon after this video so i’ll be talking about that in my january wrap up! and i’m currently reading the devil and the dark water so i’m doing pretty well so far 🤩
Okay random but the lighting in this video is so nice!!!! ❤😍🤌✨️ I do not know how i have not read Tender is the Flesh yet but i absolutely need to!! Ive only heard great things from all who have read it!! Omgggg also mrs.march is another one i want to read!!!
thank youuuu! i got very lucky with the sun setting 😂 omg you definitely need to read tender is the flesh! i'm scared to re-read it because it is pretty horrific hahah. i finished mrs march recently so i'll talk about it in my next wrap up 🥰
Great video, love a chatty catch up. My Dark Vanessa was one of my favourites in 2021 but I don't see it mentioned much on Booktube. I'm hoping to read 40 books this year but I want quality over quantity. Look forward to following you in 2024.
thank you so much! ahhh my dark vanessa is so amazing, i loved it. i look forward to having you along for 2024! x
Hi dear, I hope you are well. I saw that your UA-cam videos are very lovely . You have enough of the videos but your video is not getting views because there is some problem with your videos. Your SEO score is very poor and you need optimization for better results. If you update the videos then the views of the video will increase. If you want you can discuss with me
I enjoyed the the chattty-style update. It's good to know that Pretty Girls holds up on a reread. That must be quite hard to do for a mystery-thriller where uncovering the plot is a big aspect. I've only read The Good Daughter by her. It's quite a chunker but a good read. Great to see Tender is the Flesh - excellent book and a great ending. Your bf did very well with the beautiful Harry Potter edition and House of Leaves. I really fancy HoL but it's a bit steep and maybe one I'll need to save for a holiday when I can dedicate the time to work out what's going on. If you've read Evelyn Hardastle, I wonder what yu'll make of The Devil and the Dark Water. He still takes a famous mystery author's style and mashes it up with another genre. It had its good parts but I found it less gripping and mind-boggling. He has a new book coming out in May. Good luck with your goals. No 5* books for me yet in 2024, but I've read a range of things and enjoyed most, which I'm happy with.
i was really worried pretty girls wouldn’t hold up and i was expecting to remember alllll the twists so it was great to still feel surprised! i really loved the good daughter too but wow is that book heavy 😐 tender is the flesh ending is one of my favourites. and yessss my bf always does so well with books, he’s a big fan himself so he gets it!! i think i’m gonna do a full video on HoL once i’m finally finished but for now i would definitely suggest reading it when you have the time to fully immerse yourself in it. i heard about stuart turton’s new book only a few days ago and it sounds so good!! i’ll definitely be prioritising the devil and the dark water before it comes out. best of luck with your future 2024 reads! 🥰
In The Dream House destroyed me in the best way possible, absolute genius! Happy New Year beaut ♥️
i've just finished it and me too 😭 such a beautiful book. happy new year to you too lovely!! 💕
cannot believe how underrated this channel is, you've easily become one of my favourite booktubers! x
that's such a lovely comment! thank you so much x
