I love living vicariously through your trips! I miss the beach so much. I've always wanted to go to the sea lion caves. It looks amazing! What a wonderful trip! Thanks for taking me along! (You music choices are THE BEST!)
Thanks!!! The sea lion caves are definitely worth a trip out here. They’re amazing! Happy you enjoyed this trip!! Would love to see you if you guys ever make it out to WA one of these days.
What a cool trip, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful
Thank you! 😊
What a wonderful adventure. I especially loved the Gorge Creek portion of the video but it was all breathtaking. Thanks for the ride.
Thanks! That Gorge creek was amazing! Jason got pretty nervous on that bridge with his fear of heights but I’m proud of him for getting across it! This has to be the most beautiful area of WA that we’ve seen so far, absolutely breathtaking. Happy you liked it.
Thanks for keeping the PNW alive for me! Your opening shots to this video were breathtaking. You are really gifted at this! Each trip you take me on gets better and BETTER! As always, I really enjoy your musical choices! Wow... God sure did create a beautiful place! <3
Thank you so much, that truly means a lot to me. This was such a fun one to make, it was our first time in that area and I wasn’t sure where to look or what to film as every view was prettier than the next. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Wow, the shot at 0:09 is incredible! Also really loved the second half of this video!
Thanks so much! We were in awe the entire drive up there, definitely one of the most beautiful places we’ve been to.
So very beautiful, really enjoyed the video.
Thank you! Feels good to get back out there. 😊
Glad to see you back out. Some beautiful areas you find to camp in. We're looking forward to making our way back out there and explore the area. Looks like good brewery, too, we're adding it to out list. Cheers.
It’s an amazing area and so large and spread out that there are so many great spots to choose from! That brewery is probably my favorite in Washington, beers are amazing. Cheers!
Glad to see you back!
Thanks!!! 😊
Great to see you - we always enjoy your videos! We love the Danbo sculptures. We made a video about some more of them that are in Bernheim forest, just outside of Louisville, earlier this year. What was the box you made the fire in? We've never seen anything like that. Is it collapsible? Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Thanks!!! The Dambo trolls are so cool! So far we’ve seen 4 of them in WA. We have one more to find in Seattle and then we’ve seen them all. We’ll definitely check out your video! The little firebox we have is made by a company called Proud Pyro, we got the small fire box. They have a larger one that we initially bought but it’s huge! We prefer the smaller one. It’s great. It’s collapsible and burns super clean leaving no trace. It’s the mini pyro cage, perfect size. www.proudpyro.com/collections/pyro-cages
Thanks for actually saying what river you're on!
Hey, Guys, it has been a while! Good to see you out adventuring. Winslow! Awesome! One of my favorite places. For 3 decades my parents moored their cruising sailboats at the Winslow marina. So many great memories hanging out there either preparing or doing work on the boats or departing for a 2-week trip up past the San Juans into Canadian waters. When I would come to Seattle on business I would often try to catch the ferry over to Winslow just to hang out. Glad you all enjoyed it!
Thanks!!! Wow, what awesome memories you have of Bainbridge Island. It’s such a great little place! We live in WA now and there’s so many little islands and port towns around here to explore. When the weather gets a little better we’ll be doing some exploring in the WA cascades. Can’t wait to see more of this beautiful state. Hope you’re doing well, it’s great to hear from you. :)
What a sweet spot! And dog friendly too 👍🏽
Yep! And there’s no pet fee at the cabins either! You guys should definitely check them out, we had a great time.
Very well done
Sign sign, everywhere a sign....I remember it and am 75
Just found your channel. Looks like you've done some nice PNW trips. Will be following along.
Hi!!! Thanks for following along. We’re happy to have you join us. :) we should be getting back out there for some winter camping after the holidays. Can’t wait!
I camped several times up the Entiat River while the USAF had me there way back when WA state country is beautiful but NOT the politics since the 2020 Cootie Bug
Welcome back and deepest sympathy on the loss of your friend. Thank you for the new video.
Thank you! Feels good to get back out into the wilderness. 🥰 And Sammie is so missed but she had a very long very happy life.
So happy to see you back, The area is beautiful.
Can I pet that dOOOgg!? Bringing the Hello Fresh meal is really smart for camping. Good idea!
Rest in Peace She is still there !! you know she is there ...
Ps I am from Yakima Valley !
Thank you. I really believe she is, I can still feel her bundled up in my lap all wrapped up in her blanket ❤️
Yay! So beautiful.
Its pronounced OACH (like coach) OH-CO, all long O's
Thank you!!!
Love barview.
It’s a great place!!! So beautiful.
@Coast to Cascadia think I'll head out there now lol..
Do it!!!!
We just added a 270 Awning with sides to our small trailer a couple weeks ago and used it that week on a trip, and it is a game-changer! Having that space to stand up, get dressed, relax in a protected space was great. We put our Little Buddy out there and it took the edge off. We do love a nice cabin every now and then though too! Thanks for bringing us along!
We have a 360 bat wing awning and have been contemplating getting the little sides to zip on so it’s a more private standing area. Happy to hear that configuration works out for you. We may just go that route. Thanks!
Yay! Glad to see you guys doing vids again! Btw have you talked with Jason about what. I talked with you about?
Oh yes! I did! I think he forgot about it. Haha. I’ll remind him. He said it’s sounds really cool.

Beautiful, as always! I do love these videos so much!
Thank you!!!! I’m so happy we have a way of sharing this beauty with you. 🥰
Love the video, did you catch the national Weiner dog races? Also my ex-wife has an aunt that was part owner of trash & treasure in Rockaway, I don't know if she is even still alive though. But it is a great little town for sure and birthplace of the corn dog as well lol.
Wiener dog races?!?? I wish!!!! That would have been so fun to see. I don’t think I’ve ever been in Trash and Treasure but I definitely know what you’re talking about. And yes!!! Pronto Pup! I’m usually not a fan of corn dogs but I do love Pronto Pup.
@@CoasttoCascadia the Weiner races were this last Saturday iirc, too much stuff went on this last weekend including rust-o-rama.
We’ll have to watch out for them next year!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Our pleasure!!!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Harbor freight is best place to get the tamper proof torx and hex bits. And I always carry gorilla tape because it is awesome for that kind of stuff
And I have been seeing more and more bald eagles over here in the valley, even one out in between Salem and Mt. Angel a month or so ago
Good to know! And we actually don’t leave home without our gorilla tape now! 🤣
Yeah! We’ve been seeing a lot more bald eagles out here in Portland too! It’s so good to see them come back 🥰
It has been brought to our attention that a portion of this video may be offensive or make us look as coming off disrespectful or making fun of someone. I would like everyone to know that this was absolutely not the case. We were having fun with a local we met and meant absolutely no harm towards him. He had a funny story of where to find a fishing spot, we retold the funny story but I guess we did it in such a way that it looked as if we were mocking him. That was definitely not our intention and we would never purposely make fun of or make someone else feel bad, that’s the very last thing we would want to do. So I do hope that portion of this video is taken light hearted and we intended zero harm or disrespect towards anyone. I am glad it was brought to our attention so we know in the future that sometimes things don’t come off the same way on social media as they actually happen in real life and we will be more mindful of this from here on out.
We have always enjoyed your videos and look forward to them, but are a little disappointed in this one. A local guy gave you directions to his special fishing spot and you mocked him on the world wide web. Not cool. ☹️
We do apologize for that and didn’t mean any harm. We were just having some fun, and did it in a playful way. No harm intended at all. We thought his directions were funny and he was even a funny guy himself, good sense of humor. Had we realized it would come off as mocking or being cruel we would not have done it. We really did appreciate chatting with him, but his directions were amusing and not very clear at all, he was laughing and being funny about it as well. We were only playing around in an endearing way. I hope you continue to enjoy future videos and thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will be more mindful of of how our playfulness or humor can affect others. I guess not knowing the entire story or conversation it can come off negative.
Yay! Good to see you all out and about again. What a lovely spot! Somewhat surprised that you didn't need to deal with more snow. Here in the Bend area we had more snow cover than the past couple years and they are just beginning to open some of the trails in the mountains. Did you all encounter mosquitos? Our last visit to Diamond Lake there were a ton of them. But you didn't mention them in the video so maybe you are there early enough in the season? Looking forward to the rest of this trip. Hoping to get down in that area this year.
It’s such a beautiful area! Our first time there. We did encounter some mosquitos in one area but we didn’t stay long. Ha! There were some mosquitos where we stayed but they were pretty minimal. We were surprised about the lack of snow as well, but past the second lake we stayed at the rest of the trail was closed due to snow.
This was so beautiful!!! I would love to see you guys explore Ape Cave and the surrounding area with all the amazing Lava tubes! In WA near St. Helen's. Love your videos! I remember in our 'Costco' years you mentioned how your dream job would be a tour travel guide. Well, YOUR DOING IT!! And YOU ROCK IT! :)
Yes!!!! We would love to explore that area. Last time we tried it was all closed due to Covid but I’m sure it’s probably open now. You’re right! I’ve never thought of that, I’m totally a travel guide! Hahah. So happy you enjoy our videos.
I just discovered your channel. Thank you for sharing your adventure. I also own an Aero Teardrops trailer with the Rhino Rack. Do you know what caused it to pop off the brackets? Aero Teardrops included the necessary wrench with my paperwork, but I took the paperwork into my house. I'm putting the wrench back in the trailer right away, lol!
Thanks for watching! I guess just driving down the rugged trails, over time the bolts loosened up until eventually they got loose enough so they all popped off. We actually were wondering if we have the wrench back at home with our paperwork 🤦🏻♀️ I seem to remember seeing one at some point, if so we’re putting it directly in the trailer! Hahaha. Thanks again for watching!
@@CoasttoCascadia In the video you also mentioned some past trouble with the axle. Was that with the trailer? Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks!
LOL! No, that was on our old Land Cruiser. So far, other than the rack, the trailer has been amazing! The rack wasn’t even a fault of aero or their design at all. This trailer has held up through some of the craziest roads, definitely a great purchase.
@@CoasttoCascadia Thank you for the clarification! I just got my trailer last October, so I'm still getting used to it and wanted to know if there was something I should be watching out for! Happy travels!
Not a problem. These trailers are so sturdy and well made, pretty sure you have nothing to worry about.
Glad you guys are back out! Bummer about the roof rack. Looked like an awesome campsite and fun trip regardless. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah. That part really sucked, but the guys at Aero Teardrops are going to come through for us. Yay!!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yikes! You all did an awesome job of NOT FREAKING OUT and putting together a plan/process for how to deal with things. Good lesson learned about checking all the bolts that are part of your vehicle/trailer/etc and make sure you have even the weird ones. It has me thinking as well that if something comes with unusual nuts/bolts then I would think about replacing them with something more normal. Seriously, these manufacturers are building stuff for people to use out in the middle of nowhere they should use parts that are easy to work on. (They probably think it will be a deterrent to theft but there are better ways of doing that). Another lesson for me: I just went and put some "duct tape" in my always-with-me tool kit! And, seriously, if you all are ever stuck somewhere in Central Oregon, just reach out. I would be very willing to come help out. (Though I am sure there is tremendous satisfaction in having been able to fix the problem!). Finally, you have left me with a challenge. I absolutely need to find that campsite! ;-). "I'm from Austin, not Texas." LOL! I did look up the Skyway Bar and Grill. That is on our list. And one of our sons has friends in Sandy who they visit when they travel out from Colorado. I'm going to recommend they check it out!
Yes. We learned a lot of lessons during this trip. We have seriously considered replacing those bolts with ones that are more normal. By the time we were done with the hex key it was almost toast, not sure it’ll work for another go around. Thanks for the offer of reaching if we get stuck! We’ll definitely keep that in mind, hopefully won’t have to take you up, although it’ll be good to see you 😊 Hope all has been well with you and maybe we can meet up soon now that we’re able to get back out more often.
We missed your videos. So happy to see you guys back out there, but wow! What a rough start to a trip.
Thanks! It was so good to be back, even with that rough start. It ended up turning into a pretty spectacular trip once we got the roof rack fiasco out of the way. Hopefully our next video will be in a few weeks.
@@CoasttoCascadia it was epic! Was that the John Day river? Such a pretty spot. I love central Oregon. We are on the NW Coast so a bit of a drive, but well worth it! 👍
I believe it was the Deschutes. We weren’t entirely sure. LOL! Just drove up on it.
Gorgeous! 🥰
@@CoasttoCascadia Or maybe the Metolius? Unless you were on or went through the Warm Springs reservation I suspect you may have been on the west side of Billy Chinook. I hope in a few weeks to go hunting for that spot - and the eagles. (I do bird photography.). I have some ideas.
Beautiful video. The Met is not a great river to learn on, the water is super clear and the trout are wary. Experienced anglers can get skunked. I’d suggest not wading unless you need to, not only to avoid spooking fish but also for safety. The water is cold and flow can be heavy with a lot of drop offs. In central Oregon I would recommend the upper or lower Deschutes, or Crooked River. Fall River can be tough but not as bad as the Met. Very beautiful. Lakes out by Mt Bachelor are great. Don’t overlook small water like Tumalo Creek or Wychus, I like the adventure of getting up into rugged small creeks.
Great advice! Thanks so much! We did try lower Deschutes and crooked. Had a lot of luck on the crooked. We’ll definitely check out those other places you mentioned. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice one!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Cool. Can’t wait for more. Looks like a cool place to visit.
It’s amazing. My parents live just an hour south of there. Can’t wait to show more!!!
Very cool, Guys! If you end up going to San Juan Island and for some crazy reason decide to check out the pioneer cemetery, my great grandfather, Robert Higgins, and his wife are buried there. Good size red brick headstone. They homesteaded there after taking a wagon train to Oregon (my great grandfather was the trail boss). They tried to settle in Oregon but that didn't work. Went to Port Townsend in the hope of getting a job in the logging industry but it was just starting to go bust. So my great grandfather rowed a 14' skiff across the straight to San Juan Island, staked his claim, then rowed back to get his wife and all their worldly belongings. Once the settled on San Juan Island they had 11 kids. The youngest was my grandfather and my grandmother came from Orcas Island.
Wow!!! That’s a great story, I love hearing about family history. We’ll definitely have to check that out. We do plan on going to San Juan next time we head out there. Plus I love visiting cemeteries, so much interesting history.
Love it!
Thanks!
Looks like you guys were rewarded with some solitude for toughin’ out the weather! We need to go back soon. How did the ferry work with the trailer? Was there an extra fee?
Yes! We had an amazing time and the crazy weather was just all part of the fun 🤣 I do believe it costs more with a trailer, they measured the length of the truck and trailer combined and charged us accordingly. I’m not sure what normal rates are though, as this was our first time going. We also didn’t need reservations which was nice! I bet in the summer though reservations would be a good idea. You definitely need to go back. It’s a magical place.
@@CoasttoCascadia Regarding reservations. Absolutely necessary in the Summer. Especially with a trailer. May need to be made weeks in advance as so many people travel to the islands during that season. And that ferry from Port Townsend (one of my favorite places) to Coupeville is not large and therefore difficult to catch. That said, Port Townsend is not a bad place to have to hang out if you are waiting for ferry!
