I am just a bloke who messes about with stuff in a shed, mostly motorcycles but happy to play around with hedge trimmers, mowers, leaf blowers or anything with an engine.
These are not "how too" videos, more like "how I do" videos. Sometimes I am successful, sometimes its a complete failure, either way I am having fun and happy to share it.

I might need to get a set of them. Nice vid Carl
They seem to do the job mate.
That shock looks mint 👍
I am rather pleased with it 😁
You're getting great results with your plating, well done Karl
Thanks, however, the power supply has now blown up and I am in an argument with the supplier as to who is liable for the cost of returning it.
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 If it's found to be a manufacturing fault then the supplier would have to reimburse any costs. Best to talk to citizens advice tho Karl.
Another great video wish they where more often
@@mikeferrett195 I wish I could spend more time in the shed making them mate.
good work so far mate, FYI the top yolk on all gen 2's from 94 on (D model) are identical, the reason the silver one is different is because it's from an earlier gen 1 bike. there are several clues here, the top nut is different, the ignition lock (holder) is different, and if you look carefully on the parts bike the handlebar risers are wider than the top yolk.
Yes thanks, I kind of figured it out later in the video but nice to get the confirmation.
Your deserve more attention mate! Vids are brilliant 👍
Thank you, if everyone thought the same I might be a millionaire!
Crazy how I’m literally same stage as you lol starting to put back on the frame Saturday! 😅
Weird we are both doing the same bike at the same time. Mine might slow down a tad though as just got another project bike. It will be on the channel soon.
We appreciate your videos how bad would they be to watch if you didn't do any editing so it would save you time ,keep up the good work Carl
@@mikeferrett195 Probably quite long.
i see your pride and joy is for sale . i think its worth at least £600.
😂
Ever thought about getting yourself a small worktop lathe.
Absolutely, but space is my issue.
You didn't start the video with the Royal Enfield on show ,you are doing a first class restoration job there Carl
Thanks mate, slow ole job though.
@motorcyclejunkie7564 as I said before you need an apprentice
Yes good idea to plate the bits off the rear shocker. Will finish it off nicely.
Hopefully give it a bit of weather protection as well.
Looking good Karl , nice shiny nuts 😊
😂
well done you're doing great, I did try to give you some tips (that you used) on the last video but alas not to be, next job for me would be the swingarm and rear suspension. the forks take longer
@@yorkiecol7973 Yeah that’s odd, not sure what it didn’t like about your comment. Swing arm now on, probably be in the next video.
Reminds me of the Honda Cub. I reckon Soichiro Honda could've been inspired by it when he went to Europe
I see what you mean, but close up they are quite different. For example, my Mobylette has a separate engine and gearbox.
Getting close to the big 1k buddy!
Yes, but channel has slowed to a crawl.
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 mine too mate. Picking up subs in ones and twos and my views are way down.
I remember holidaying in France in the mid seventies, and these things were everywhere. You could ride them at 14, without a skid lid. Madness.
Mobylette/Motobecane were a huge company back in the 60's/70's.
Your doing a nice job Karl and the plating looks good, did you find out why the first batch were patchy/burnt.
Yes, I had the amps too high, voltage unimportant but high amps causes issues.
Love the videos ! I’m currently at this stage now, so scared to mess the paint 😅
Yes its tricky, but get the engine up on blocks and lower the frame down onto it.
Just catching up with videos, really enjoyed this, but for £200 plus it would make me think twice, its a lot of stuff to store as well. Loving it though, keep the videos coming. The fails and your honesty make the videos. I think it's ace that you never give up.
Yes, quite expensive but at least I have all the gear for future projects. I am getting good results now. I accepted at the start that the GPZ build was going to cost more than the finished bike would be worth but I am not doing it for profit. Glad you like the content.
Nice! Also doing the same just stripped the frame to metal, be painting soon ! 😎
@@Gyrolios Nice. Not going to powder coat?
Hi some information about centre stands.iv been looking for one for my twin star and I used a cd 175 stand and got a nice engineer to make it 3”es longer fits perfect but you have to higher the lug to fit a standard spring,if this helps anybody,Cheers
Thanks mate, useful to know.
Well first of all Carl Thank you so much for going ahead with this project and filming it. That has been a great eye opener and will definitely be giving this a go. I like the way you kept experimenting till you got those really good results I would imagine that they give you inspiration towards the build of the bike by giving that as new look. Can’t wait to start to see the rebuild with the new shiny bolts and maybe if you’ve got time you could show the results of the Mobilnet. 👍👍👍😊
Thanks, yes getting really good results now, so many restorations are done to a good standard but with crusty old bolts, this addresses that issue. Started on the re-assembly and will upload videos soon. Not sure what you mean by “Mobilnet”?
Sorry I meant that lovely moped I can’t remember it’s name
You mentioned that you might take a few bits off it and tidy it up.
@@jimbo9310 Ah the Mobylette! Yes I would, if I had the time then maybe a complete strip and rebuild, but no rush to do that.
Interesting
Interesting vid - Cheers
Thanks, it was interesting doing it.
You could phone the suppliers of the kit see if they could give you some insight with what you might be doing wrong Carl, as you say it might be a dodgy power supply.
Think I have it sorted now, been getting some great results off camera.
And getting better the more I do.
Very nice job . Look great . 👍
Cheers
Came up nice 👍🏻 keep the content coming as much as you can for max views
Thanks mate, I do what I can.
Those bolts came up nice. Looking forward to the next episode, thanks 😊
Indeed, quite pleased with them. Going to try "bluing" some of them that don't need to be shiny in a later video.
no idea why my comment was removed, I'm only trying to help won't bother in future. good luck with the rebuild.
@@yorkiecol7973 I haven’t removed anything buddy. What was it?
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 hi, I watched the video saw what you you were doing so offered some suggestions on how to proceed having completely rebuilt 3 of these bikes already, I also made a suggestion on where you could get further help when required. 10 mins after posting the comment had been deleted .sorry but I thought it was you who had deleted it.
Can I have a UA-cam shout out next video 😊
@@projectclark123 If I remember!
@@yorkiecol7973 No mate, never deleted a commented from anyone, ever. Appreciate the help though, repost if you can remember.
Hello, i destroyed the waterpumpshaft, and i cant get it out, do i have to take the whole engine out? can you please help me and give me advice, thanks
No, engine removal is not necessary. If you look at the shaft you will see it has flat sides to enable you to get a spanner on it. Just unscrew it and screw in a new one, however, it is a reverse thread, so will unscrew in the direction of what would normally be tightening.
Wow, i got all excited then, I've just sold one AV92 and have another in my workshop, but nothing like yours condition wise. If you ever do decide to sell it, let me know, it's beautiful.
Probably not going to sell to be honest, virtually irreplaceable. Just out of interest, what condition is the one you have and the one you sold? I see them so rarely, but 2? Wow! Has yours got the leg shields? They took some finding and even then it took me along time to find the fixing brackets. On the look out for a spare relay box, nothing wrong with mine but they are so rare it would be nice to have a spare.
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 the one I sold was very tired, but it was running a 65cc kit and genuine Dellorto PHBG carb and absolutely flew. The replacement is in good condition, tank inside is a lot better condition, strangely Chrome wasn't so I swapped all the good parts around before selling the other. The engine is sweet and starts first kick, but I'm going to rebuild it with new seals etc. it has wonderful additions put on it by the previous owner which I love and make it part of what it is. Including a badly adapted 94tt high level exhaust. (It has an original with it too). I have two spare gearboxes 😀
Scheiße man, sind wir hier in England??????
I remember my dad having one back in the day ,wish we still had it today he used it every day today to commute to work
It turns more heads than any bike I have.
My first question to myself was "why sell it", and you answered by changing your mind because of the nostalgic thrill it gives you when riding it 😀👍 and who would keep it in ridable condition other than a collector who would probably never ride it, so well done for keeping her 👍😃
It makes little sense keeping it as I do about 40 miles a year on it, but it’s totally irreplaceable so makes no sense selling it either. But keeping it anyway.
When I was a kid Karl back in the 70s I had the Raleigh runabout to get to work which was a daily run of 80 miles, never let me down and was pretty nippy but didn't have the leg guards on it.
I had a Raleigh Runabout when I was 16, red, rusty as hell and leaked more petrol than it used, but I thought I was super cool on it 😎
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 I eventually upgraded to a garelli rekord which was faster than my mates Fizzy and a lot cheaper 🤣
I would like to take the airbox out and leave it out. I've had carb problems with this bike for years and I'e never gone as far as you have in terms of tear down. Did you take the carb out before you took out the air box?
Cannot remember to be honest, this was 2 years ago. I don't think taking the airbox out is a good idea. You would have to replace it with something, I assume you are thinking cone filters? If so, this will let more air in so you will then have to think about re-jetting. also, they are susceptible to wet weather. I would suggest you clean and service the carb as that is clearly where your issue is.
Oh, my! crank is what my bike loves to do, not run, but crank. I am really thinking about getting it out and seeing if I can make it go. Would like to see you get that air cleaner box out.
They can be a pain to remove, cannot show you though as this bike is long gone.
Enjoying the build videos! I watched one video of dirty guy garage changing some fork seals on an er5. It was painful to say the least . Looking forward to hearing this run 👍
That could be some time, hopefully before I retire!
Easier to use a flat sander or block with sandpaper
You're right, that's what I did in the end.
Getting close to the big 1k there buddy!
So close but so far!
Great video, more progress towards the finish. Looking forward to the zinc plating. 👍😊
@@jimbo9310 soon, very soon!
Can l got this Eliminator Engine
@@IkechukwuOkafor-rj1mw ?
Did you ever find out the problem I am in the same situation as you right now 😂
Not yet, I have kind of put it on the back burner whilst I get on with the other machine.
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 I got mine sorted bout 2 hours ago just used the CDI unit off the engine I took the bits off fired straight up
@@JamesCochrane-sl1wz Nice, I think mine is related to the neutral light, will eventually get back on it.
Thanks for another interesting video
Cheers mate, appreciate your support.👍
I truly understand, why not give it a try. And in all honesty it has so far only cost you some of your time ( and some sanity) and for me I am setting here thinking. I can still maybe get a crows foot or bend up a spanner to still do this. I appreciate your work, Thank You.
@@maxgood4361 Possibly, but it is incredibly tight in there, it also needs to be torque set which you could not do with a bent spanner. Still not done with it though.
I know your just practicing and doing it ad hoc but you should really read the manual. as soon as you said I'll close up the cases and put the pistons in later I'm shouting at the computer like NOOOOO, pistons and rods first without the barrels.
@@yorkiecol7973 Nah, reading the manual takes all the fun out of it. I like playing!
Where can I get the frame from as I desperately need new one
Just keep looking on Facebook Marketplace, eBay etc, you might get lucky. I have a pair of wheels if they are any use?
3:30 I'm already throwing stuff and cussing
I remember it well!
I think it could be difficult putting in the pistons the way you want to would be an issue as the bottom case will not be fitted therefore your gears etc could fall out ,so better as dirty g did it
I think you are right, hard to get at the conrod cap bolts, but it was worth a try.
yeah Kawasaki gearboxes have a positive neural finder 3 little balls on the motion shaft that prevent selecting any gear other than 1st or neutral while the shaft is not turning.
Yeah I knew there was something like that, I wonder if it can be overcome for the purposes of testing the gears?
@@motorcyclejunkie7564 not really the balls move out under centrifugal force.
