You know here is another joke I just realized they could have done and kids probably would not understand have lobie ask freakzoid how lobes he sees and have freakzoid yell there are 4 lobes!
What I love about this scene is that Lobe wasn't doing anything bad. All he wanted was to have a good time. Goes to show even baddies need time off to chill.
It's so unique to find a show that has little to no mature themes but is still clearly targeted at adults.....because what kid is gonna get this joke? Like, what kid would appreciate a beat for beat parody of Hay Dolly? One with good taste for sure, but damn.
As a weird kid growing up in the 90s, i loved this episode. I knew what every reference wss due to my love of hello dolly (theater kid) and its been in my head for years
How much does this add to the mythos of Spielberg. I know he wasn't in the writing room or anything like that, but he was involved more than in name only. Cranking out wacky cartoons in between Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Amistad, and Saving Private Ryan is a Chad Decade bro
okay no one mentions this but the second freakzoid joins in he was relieved to see the lobe. Due to the story plot. And if you pay attention to expression on the lobe, he instantly knows it is freakazoid and was like wow so he's going on with it. plus freakazoid got him to agree in song that he's a fathead. way to commit.
0:34 - I've decided I'm going to randomly use ancient public domain clips in my videos, even if they're in black and white, I think it's a trend that needs to return
The reference is to Hello Dolly, the song from the Movie/Play speciffically Louis Armstrong is the impersonation that Freakazoid is doing Honestly the attention to detail is wildly strong
see now, THIS is how you intro a supervillain. no menacing auras. no grim environments. no scrappy minion running towards a throne and cowaring for their life. you put on a proper show for your viewing audience, with fancy music, well crafted choreography, and of course a big ol' plate of bread.
Was there a telethon on during the original hello dolly or whatever? That’s the one part I don’t get. Points if you spot a certain warner during that moment.
At first I thought the dancing was rotoscoping but it looks like someone was really dedicated and since it took 7 months to animate work did not go to waste.
90% of the gags of the Stephen Spielburg era of WB toons are totally boomer references that they knew kids wouldn’t get, the other 10% they’ll laugh at anyway because it sounds funny

The first live action scream is from the end of 'House on Haunted Hill' (1959), can't place the second one though! Anyone know?

Literally saw the carol brunette show so hello dolly and I’ve been rewatching this
The Supervillain Supreme
Trippin' no doubt...
Y'know what? He deserves this. He deserves to have this to himself, for once.
Is this a parody of a Marylin Monroe film?

Freakazoid, Animaniacs and Tiny Toon walked so Shrek could run

Even by Freakazoid standards, this is rediculous!

This puts a smile on my face every time.
David Warner does the best number as the lead villian in the show

To think David Warner was terrified of recording this whole bit because he "couldn't sing".
That is one happy man.

Is it just me or does anyone else keep watching mainly for how he rolls the r the first time he says ‘plate of bread’? 😅
He’s got a big ass fat head.
David Warner said in an interview and told other actors that he had more fun voicing The Lobe on Freakazoid than any other show.

And the supervillain has his own fanbase
He better not be one of those villain by names!
But I got to admit, this is an amazing title number!

This show was genius!

David Warner sucks

A great hello dolly reference in this song
Just gonna point out that at 2:07 Yakko Warner donated $1

As a kid I didn't really get or like this scene, but now I find it hilarious. XD
Honestly my favorite childhood song idk why 🤣
slayed
0:21 HAH! GAAAAY
Rest in peace David Warner as lobe
He should’ve gone on Broadway.
RIP David WARNER, man this scene is so fun and entertain, they will never make cartoon like these anymore and The Lobe hsi greatest role!
Cartoons these days are so beautiful, dark, funny, thrilling and moving, but 90s was when they were truly, wonderfully irreverent.
My older brother and I laughed so hard when we saw this
Rest in peace, David Warner!! 🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐
