I am planning on attending in January. I hope to score some items I am looking for. Is there a place to ship items home at the show or close buy? Those "G" scale passenger cars are "BIG". Flying in from Houston, Texas.

I, along with a friend, had the privilege of meeting Mick and Brooks as guests of Mick in 1980 or 81 when it was under construction. And we didn't sign a non-disclosure agreement either. The details fascinated me. The walkway was paved with South African rock slabs, it took a container of Canadian Western Red Cedar to line the building eaves. The doors were powered sliding doors into the foyer. The sound system was built in under a coffee table and featured Nakamichi components. To the right of the foyer was a commercial kitchen. There were many more I could comment on, but I'll leave you with one thing I don't think made it onto the video. Under the house, in a cellar type rumpus room was an N Gauge layout Mick had built for him to see if he liked model trains. He obviously did. 😊

This is really great. Nice job Speed. I like your realistic description of how things are more likely to work over how in theory they would.

Great video and tips! I’ve never had much luck with isopropyl either. It always washed away the paint and seems to react oddly with clear coats (turns foggy), especially with older Branchline stuff

Assume most people fast forward past all that, so these advertisers don’t even get the benefit of their ad being seen.

Mike Tylick’s presentation, “Perspective” (a.k.a. forced perspective), at 1:05:00 is excellent! A friend on the NMRA Discord server recommended it to me when I asked for advice and a sanity check on a planned project. The information and examples here are exactly what I need to know and see. Thank you for a very useful and thorough presentation. I’m going right back and watching it all over again.

Its pretty bad when the dues are so high that you have to have this. I know many people who wonder why the dues are so high and have quit the NMRA. They still run trains but just don't associate with the NMRA.

Total BS... I went through the entire review process. I have Medicare coverage and supplemental benefits through Kaiser Permanente. I was told I do not qualify for this benefit, with NO EXPLAINATION as to why. Grouper would not even return my follow-up emails. This appears to be just another scam to get your information for their database.

I am so glad to see this kind of evidence-based program being made available. Social isolation is an enormous health risk for older people. Participating in organizations like NMRA is a great way to stay connected and stay active.

@4:39 the incline on the apron is more likely because of the lake elevation not so much how heavily the ship is loaded. Lake Michigan elevation is cyclic and has about a 6' difference between low and high water.

Tried several times to join this interchange, but each time I failed. This chat room or whatever it is you call it is way too complicated. If the NMRA has more than 18K members but less than 5% have joined this interchange, maybe someone should rethink this.

Great clinics as always guys. I understand that the segments haven't been edited yet but there is not need to have 20mins of ads played in the beginning for a replay of the live show. Also you can barely hear Lloyd's audio in the first clinic. I would spend a little more fixing this so that the content can be enjoyed in the beginning and then promote the individual clinics of choice on a Playlist later on. We want to encourage members and newcomers by looking attractive on social media. This is the engine to gain the younger generation and it needs to be improved and ahead in the game. I would ask successful youtubers on advice and/or participate in a UA-cam seminar to gain information.

I know this is an old video so this comment will probably never be read... But I always thought about a great place to keep the rails clean and install the charging ports would be in the engine house or the roundhouse, that would be a great way to say that the engines and the operating session has to always come back to zero.

I'm currently in the design phase of an HO scale Susquehanna layout set in 1942. I think Joey's penance for not knowing where the NYSW runs should be that he has to come up to Missouri (just south of St Louis) and help build the layout. 😉🤣 Great episode! Lots of wonderful modeling info as always!

can I suggest you turn the volume levels up next time? This is the first time I've watched this, but even though I had the volume turned up to the maximum, I could barely hear anything that was being said. In the end, I just skipped to the next one, then the last one, and wrote this, and then switched off. :(

The Monadnock Building in Chicago was the largest brick building ever constructed without a steel structure, at 16 stories. As a result, when you enter the building, which I have when I lived in Chicago, it's like walking through a short tunnel due to the walls being 6' thick. Also, the foundation was inadequate, a common weakness in late 1800s-early 1900s buildings. The weight of these massive brick walls has caused the entire building to sink 20" or more into the ground, but fortunately evenly so you don't have a leaning tower of Pisa problem.
