Hi, I've been selling on Zazzle for years, and I think it has gotten harder and harder to compete on there, because they have nearly a million designers, and most niches are over-saturated. I took a look at your Zazzle shop, and while you have beautiful designs, I think you need a lot more products to compete successfully. Years ago on the forums people claimed that you needed 1000 products to really start seeing consistent income, but it actually depends more on your niche and how saturated it is.

Just watched a youtube video by a woman who claims she makes a six-figure income off Amazon. She was advising to not upload your content to Amazon, but instead make your own website and sell it directly. Said you make more money. I don't remember if she even said which print-on-demand company she uses.

I am also down the KDP journey. I am a fictional author with already 2 books out (of the 4-book series) called Betrayal In the First Degree). This is a personal growth journey to say the least, building your strength every step of the way. This also enriches the knowledge that you could build on. As much as I would love to be more popular, that also comes with a price- the extra work you will have to push through the grind. This is something that I am striving for!! Hope we can become friends, I see we are both starting the you tube journey together. Good LUCK!!

But when I clicked on your channel to watch other KDP related videos, I couldn’t read the titles of the videos - they’re too long and not displaying in full on my mobile phone. After re-watching this recently, I realized I didn’t actually mention any of the dreams I’ve had! So here’s one: In college I had a dream about one of the other women in the dorms-that she was in a lot of pain. After waking up, I prayed for her to find healing from her pain. Later on I was able to chat with her in the dorms and tell her about the dream and what I prayed. She said she wasn’t in physical pain, but that her long-time boyfriend had broken up with her and she was in emotional pain from it. She was really moved when I told her that I had prayed for her!

Ugh, I know what you mean. I have one course on Udemy (fiction writing for time-starved people) and get infrequent sales. This is mostly my fault though as I don't do anything to market it. 😄 I also have several novels on KDP and it's NOT the fast, easy money that many here on YT and other social media say it is. But both are fulfilling so it's worth it to me. I hope you get many more students (and readers when you release your KDP book!). Thanks for the great video and your honest, thoughtful perspective.

It’s so tricky with Udemy, because they make it sound like they will suggest your course to people who would be interested on the platform. I noticed that happening for a bit at the beginning, but for some reason it just dropped off their radar. It’s definitely frustrating!

They terminated my account, stole my three books, distributed them illegally on different platforms, and sold them at inflated prices for their personal benefit. So, avoiding this company and protecting your author rights and work is better.

  • @pampierce

Try reading the KDP documents on the website and following them step by step. I just put my first book up after years of not writing, and it was pretty easy to do the paperback, no problems, and it tells you exactly how long everything will take, no guesses. READ THE DIRECTIONS ON KDP. I didn't use Kindle Create, the reviews said it wouldn't be good for my 300 page book and a quality cover. I used Adobe InDesign for the book and Photoshop for the cover and both turned out great! However, I think I'm moving to Scrivener for the book interior, seems like it might be better for me, we'll see. I'm also using ChatGPT to ask any questions, like putting together the ISDN number and Library of Congress registration, and much more. I highly recommend it. ChatGPT makes life so much easier than when I wrote books years ago. ChatGPT is like having an expert sitting next to me.

Ok, I feel your pain. I don't give a flying monkey's pet rat's ass what other people say about publishing with KDP being easy. It's not. It is anything but easy to deal with them. Unfortunately, they have a corner on a certain part of the publishing market that forces us to deal with publishing through them if you're looking to maximize royalties. But there is an alternative publishing outlet that you can go through if you don't mind jacking the price of your book up to get a fair return from Amazon sales. Lulu Publishing. Unlike Amazon and KDP, they genuinely are easy to publish with. They do have certain requirements for how you need to format your book, but their templates are easy to understand and work with. That is what you were trying to figure out what you had to download. You have to do it with all self-publishing outlets. I've been writing and publishing through lulu for over a decade, and if you're interested, I would be open to helping you with learning the ropes and getting your book published.

In addition to being brave, you're an engaging story teller. I wouldn't normally stick around for a twenty minute experiment from a total stranger, especially after waking at 4:40 in the morning. Usually I'd watch three seven minute videos over a twenty minute one. As a creator I'd want to go with the length people are willing to complete. Anywho, not the sort of answer you were looking for, but I hope it's helpful.

  • @crystalmorningstar19

If the longer video is more of what they like to watch, they get more of what they want and so will watch longer. if it's just dragging out with fillers, it's a time suck to get just a bit of what they want when they can just watch many quick feeds in the same amount of time. Some like a direct approach, some like the story telling approach. Making both styles will get views from both types and you'll have thus increased viewing hours.

Im looking into it. I thought they said you need a great cover to sell the book, so need to hiring an artist for that. Then you need 3 books in the niche. Also your first book will be bad and its a learning curve Then you need to run ads, like $2 per day to see if you make money from it. The first 30 days you want more sales, then your book can start to go higher. Also your idea works better if you have knowledge or interest around the item, or if you are solving a problem you had and helping others. I like alex hormozi video about selling to 5 people. You give the product away to 5 people in exchange for feedback to make it better and keep making it better. So the way for it to be 1 hour a week that saun puts in is by hiring ghostwriters, artists, and basically outsourcing someone to develop your content. But you have to make some sales first! Im working on my idea #3 as my first published thing. Its a journal too. We'll see how it goes. I felt my other two ideas will take a year to develop or will cost a fortune to make! Keep us posted how it goes. Make 2 more items and run $2 of ads for 5 days to see if you will get a sale to cover the ad cost? If the ad works, then you can spend more on the ads. Thats my takeaway anyway. Just learning right now.
