      You should be able to search for green tufting cloth! I get mine from a local fabric warehouse that doesn't have the best organization, its like an overstock kind of place. I've also seen people use burlap, which you can get dyed green already- but sometimes its a little too loosely woven

    Thanks for making this video. I love these relaxing maker and indirect learning video. I'm a crocheter and I'm going to latch hook at some point. Bought the first set of stuff and it's in a box. I want to make a moss type wall hanging but also on my list is a forest or farming landscape from above. I'm not interested in the houses but the different types of green for lawn, trees, blue for ponds, grey and brown for rocks and paths. That's what I would suggest. I'm now going to look at your more recent videos and find this an irrelevant point. Thanks

    It was great to hear you talk through your thought process and making an umbrella for all your interests. I totally relate to having to deal with organizing home projects vs. work projects in your brain. I constantly struggle with that. I am excited to follow your progress on this idea and seeing how your business grows. The flowers are GORGEOUS by the way! Do you know what I thought of? Those glass domes of flowers in the Penelope's room in the movie, Penelope! Wouldn't those be amazing with little miniature scenes inside? Like a table set for tea among the flowers? Thank you for sharing!!

I don't really remember the glass domes but I remember how whimsical her room was in the movie... so now I need to rewatch it! I would love to do more stuff like that moving forward- bringing the miniatures and the flowers together. The glass domes would be a GREAT way to start that in a small way!

    It's interesting that you mentioned die cutting your flowers... several companies now sell dies for that and even steel rule dies are getting more intricate. Sizzix did some that were giant. I think it was geared more towards the even planning market. Several designers for craft companies now create product lines that go in line with items they make themselves. Eillen Hull comes to mind... she has several dies related to making journals and such. Have you considered being a designer for such products? I've thought about making money from my craft but have no support and only have myself to rely on so keeping a regular job has been important to pay the bills. I've looked into it a little but but thinking about keeping up with so much for taxes, etc, intimidates me. I don't have a good mind for that type of thing and have a hard time staying focused on stuff like that. Not to mention feeling like I couldn't get enough for what I make to support myself, and the constant making might not be something I could keep up with. I totally understand what you mean re the wholesale thing... I think it would be a lot easier to sell to a business for them to sell it than selling yourself. It's a lot less managing and business tasks, it seems. Knowing one has family and friends who would help out if a risk doesn't pan out makes one more comfortable with taking those risks as opposed to 'if it doesn't work, I will end up homeless'. Glad you have that support! I started following you when you did the fall window dressing vid and its nice to know a little more about your journey.

    • @makewithblake
      @makewithblake Рік тому

      I would LOVE to design things like that! I have looked into having those types of dies made but they are definitely for smaller projects since the dies are so thin (and pricey to make them independently). The kind I've made for myself are thick, on a die cutting machine made for schools- so I can cut larger amounts of material in a shorter amount of time. Hopefully if I continue to share my work I will be able to connect with the right people to make something like that happen! The whole thing is such a learning process! And you aren't alone with your feelings! I've had many friends and family members want to get something going as well and I think a lot of it does come down to timing, opportunity, and reacting to what you see room for in a certain market! I've been very lucky for sure- its like a game I guess! You just take calculated risks when the chances come up!

    Thank you for sharing your journey thus far. It's interesting and informative and mostly inspiring to myself personally on multiple levels. As a younger grandmother to 3 grands I have always had a art,activity planned for them to encourage creativity, projects they can be so proud of because THEY did it. I didn't get to do that as much with my own 2 kids because of life...work,responsibilities, etc. You set a GREAT adult example of a self made artist/creator and most of all so blessed to have had all those family members to encourage that for you. That sets you apart from so many other cookie cutter business owners. But what strikes me the most in your video is you are sticking to your values of wanting /trying to sustain and grow from something that you truly ENJOY doing. GOOD FOR YOU! Isn't that exactly the reason potential customers would be drawn to your ideas and potential products? It's also obvious you enjoy and should probably focus on a idea that encourages others to create and make a project using YOUR tools/kits to do so. Have you considered your felt flower displays and selling "kits" online, craft shows? From miniature to massive sizes? The larger ones for big displays/wall murials? Maybe not only making bouquets but double sided tape,velcro so they can create them and apply them to doors,she sheds,walls,planters,classrooms/ or the petals to create a rug or blanket? ...I hope this males sense. My daughter created "kits" for another product, it took off. I could go on and on lol! Either way, on here I am sure you will find the support, encouragement and ideas to get your creative juices flowing! That's the fun part!

    • @makewithblake
      @makewithblake Рік тому

      Thank you so much! It sounds like you are the exact kind of support I've had- so I know it leaves a mark for your family too! I think this is the direction most business will go moving forward- where we distance ourselves from corporations and continue to focus on our smaller, closer communities! That is so funny you mentioned kits, I've always been asked about classes over the years- kits would allow me to reach even more people beyond local classes! Thank you for leaving this comment, I was worried about posting a talkative video like this but now I already feel so much better about posting it!

Sadly I couldn’t manipulate the balloon, so I just resorted to crumpling up a bunch of paper, forming it into the hearts, putting the paper mache on it, letting it dry, make the ventricles out of polymer clay, and then painting it.
