bro i play with steve about 4 month and i get better everytime and j had huge combo damage now i get the shinryu rank but the player become playing with very high pressure and i can't do anything now all is happening with me now is i get beat up all the time with steve because i dont have a second to attack please help me what should i do iam losing a lot of matches
I agree that steve is not a counter hitting paragon anymore. They took away his identity which is very sad because to me steve was the most uniquely designed character before tekken 8. He was a work of art. They made him a 50/50 based character with is totally not practical with him because he does not have good lows. So pushing his identity towards 50 50 falls apart. Even if i do mix up the opponent right, the risk reward ratio is completely shit, i land db3,2 on hit, i don’t get anything, another non scary mixup for my opponent, and if he guessed right the first time, i die, if he guesses right again, even if i am successful in landing a low, still i die again. Totally fucking absurd.

You have a pretty healthy mentality, and I agree Steve is definitely not a weak character and pretty much all my issues with Steve in T8 can be boiled down to 'skill issue'. I disagree that Steve in T7 was a boring character. He may have been a simpler character because your core gameplan revolved around just B1 and DF2, but he was entirely dependent on timing and he had more interesting tricks and setups around DB3,2 and extended duck in mix-ups. I personally don't really find going into LH and playing rock paper scissors that interesting, and the idea of having good reads on your opponents timing rewarding me with just a 1,2,1 or sway 2,2 feels less satisfying than hitting that big CH launch. I'm glad you find T8 Steve more interesting, but I don't think you can blame legacy Steve mains for feeling like their favourite chatacter's identity was basically removed from the game and that feels bad.

What about a buff where he gains heat meter every time he lands a counterhit? that would make his "counterhit paragon" title make sense while also not making him braindead and bland

Thanks man, ive been learning how to pressure with steve and made the false assumption that his standing jabs (121, 122) and pkb stance is his main pressure tool. I barely incorporate Albuquerque or flicker as i get mashed a lot. I do know i should use the armor move on flicker but you taught me that i can transition between both stances with alb. As well as to use alb to disguise my lows. Appreciate it!
You don’t see Steve’s doing it because everybody I play against mashes me out of my stance 😂 if I didn’t have bills I’d have smashed 30 controllers by now.

15:31 It took me a while of contemplating and using a lot of Steve to understand why qcf 2 was launch punishable (Balance wise) On paper it looks like a very underpowered risky low which is why I used to avoid using it but after using it a bunch I realize that there are 5 things that make it launch punishable: 1) It high crushes 2) It does decent damage 3) It has good range (The most important) 4) Its unreactable 5) Steve is not supposed to have a low like this The range is most important because from the distance this hits, Steve doesn't have an unreactable low. So the opponent is not looking for lows at that distance so it is probably the easiest low to hit. Kinda like Feng's db3 without the tracking or the counter hit damage cuz its Steve. Even pkb d2/fc df2 is harder to hit because the opponent can see that you are in full crouch or peekaboo so they are actively thinking about it
