    I have never seen Skeet in anything except for The Magic of Ordinary Days with Keri Russell. His character of Ray was so believable and so adorable, that I am afraid to see him in anything else. So nice to see this interview.

    Austin seems to have a very gentle, fragile soul. It is unlikely I'll ever get to meet him, but it would be a pleasure if I ever did. He seems to be a true gentleman. Someone his family can be immensely proud of for his maturity, his openness, and his desire to always be better. As someone struggling to disentangle myself from an abusive mother, I felt a shared pain with Austin. I had tears in my eyes and related to the emotional struggle. We're programmed to love our parents, but they are not always best equipped to love us back in the most happy, healthy way. Before Austin said minefield, my mind instantly went to war zone, but I think he description was better. It's exactly how I have felt growing up, trying to navigate a dysfunctional household yet believing that we were a "normal" family, and only finding out in the last 5 or so years that I am ADHD / autistic, my mother is emotionally, psychologically, and financially abusive, and that I'm trapped in living situation with her I'm struggling to get out of. Feeling completely helpless. Like a child, and questioning every decision, every move I've made in life, and wondering how I could somehow have avoided this all if I had just been better, done better.

    One of the things I love about the way you conduct these is you let them have the time to think. Way to many podcasters/interviewers are terrified of silence and jump in to fill it. You don't. You listen. And that's real care. That's gold

    Kyle is perfection as Mike Franks. Austin is too stiff, gives no way he's Gibbs performance. Austin needs to adopt Mark Harmon's mannerisms & facial expressions.

    • @kristyn619
      @kristyn619 Місяць тому

      I definitely agree that no one else could have played Franks and Kyle is so good in the role. I wholeheartedly disagree about Austin, he is playing Gibbs 10 years before the pilot and your mannerisms change drastically as you age and evolve and him in the Origins is coming in at bottom of the food chain being a probie so he definitely would carry himself differently being the man in charge and 10 years older for the pilot in 2003. I think that’s the beauty in being an actor and watching them shine, different people watch and think differently. He plays the vulnerability and somewhat brokenness of Gibbs to perfection by bringing in his own heartbreak and pulling from it. And hopefully he is able to not take that weight home. Definitely one of the best acted prequels I have ever seen and can’t wait for more each week. And love Kyle is getting deeper with this podcast.

      @@kristyn619I agree. I think Austin’s doing a great job. You have to remember that he’s playing someone who’s had the rug yanked out from under him and just starting to process it.

    This was a great discussion. Would even say wish that guys would have this as part of their military training. Seems men tend to struggle more on finding ways to have these type of serious discussions without turning on the “bro mode.” When in fact they seriously need to hear this type of talk and face the challenges they’re going through. Thanks for sharing.
