I have very similar looking bar lock, mine does not say Clopay. I have always lifted from the handle and mine is from 1973. I just bought new Clopay doors to replace the old wooden doors, and plan to reuse the bar lock. 8 foot double doors, 2 car garage. I rekeyed the lock to match the house key. The advantage of the double handle and inside dead bolt,, if the door is locked on the outside, you can release dead bolt and escape the garage. Originally was not going to keep it but I realized it's a good lock system.

Man, I needed this video only for that stupid "punch pin". For two weeks, sweating inside humid, steamy shed. Couldn't figure out how to release the inside handle. Traveling now, when I get home, I've got the hammer, hopefully ill have a tool to punch out the needle. You could probably cut 9 min video to 4 minutes. "Dirty shed" hahahaha. Thanks again

I always thought that handle on the bottom of the door was for my foot. Raise it up to my waist with my foot, then grab with my hand and open the rest of the way. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for your video. Before this video I was ready to call the local garage door repair shop. It seemed silly to have someone else come out to repair something that should have been simple, but I didn’t know how the handle was attached until your video. I will repair mine this weekend.

the entire chrome piece is clipped on to the rest of the grill, it's possible to remove it but it's very fiddly

That pipe wrench has sharp teeth they cut into the soft metal. The impact sockets are made out of and displaced the black oxide and is there to protect it from corrosion. Well, at least it was there before you had a great idea🤦‍♂️ I get that sometimes you do what you Gotta do in a pinch. But a $25 breaker bar from Harbor freight says that you did not need to mar up the impact sockets.
