We vacuum sealed the tenders and leg quarters, but Susan canned the breast meat for easy chicken salad and making chicken pot pies! #backyardchickens #chicken #meatchickens #backyardhomestead #meatbirds #canning #food #foodstorage #farmsteading #homestead
Gobble gobble.
Thanks for watching! Hoping they continue to thrive.
Cute lil buggers !
Thanks, and thanks for watching!
He kinda looks like ya!😂😂
Thought it looked more like Susan!😅
Awe, thank you❤
@@LoisHunt-z8f you're welcome!
Nice! Ralph, do you know if its ok to cut mold off of hard cheese rind and still consume the remaining cheese?
@@LoisHunt-z8f Yes, I have cut it off often and continue to eat the rest of the cheese.
@MannsAdventures-bc3kt Thank you!
Hi good video. thanks for all the information, but would be great to slow down, say the site numbers, shut the music off when you are talking. Had to hear you. Have fun, be safe.
Thanks for the tips and for watching!
Ralph and Susan! Thank you for that beautiful Sunday morning blessing. ❤
It was neat to watch one of God's miracles!
Also, your rooster looks great!
@@chiefandGranstan thanks we picked him up at Susan's Milk farmer
Not only does it look cold, You sure do sound cold. Any freeze proof waters?
@@chiefandGranstan unfortunately no, we need so, I guess.
Beautiful ❤ We are getting in now up here in North Central Indiana. Love it!!
@LoisHunt-z8f ours is pretty, but may be gone by tomorrow. Not saying that's a bad thing. Lol
Thats very interesting! Please show us the results in 3 days. Thank you
I'll get a video showing the difference and increase in size. Thanks for asking.
Really good stuff!
@@chiefandGranstan right tasty!
Show us how to make the ACV please!!
@@LoisHunt-z8f I will get w Susan, we about to make another batch.
I don't think the possum is what killed your chickens.
What do you think did? I was looking for maybe a fox, but this is what I caught.
Well done buddy
@@chiefandGranstan thanks Chief, hoping that's the only one.
You are fortunate to have "homegrown eggs!".❤
Very much, and grateful!
Great job!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Oh no 😮!!! Probably a fox?
@LoisHunt-z8f That's what we think. Or it could be a racoon. Both would bury extras to come back later. 😂
That meat is beautiful! Nice job❤
@@LoisHunt-z8f thank you! Tasted great and was very moist!
I’m glad you had a chance to visit your “happy place”. Good stuff, always enjoy your stuff
@chiefandGranstan thanks Chief, anytime I'm near water is a "happy place".
Ralph, why were there already dead chickens in the chucken tractor?????
They weren't dead, they were just sitting. This breed gets so big if you don't process, they lay around and can die on you.
It isn’t blood…it’s myoglobin. A protein in the muscle groups.
You are correct! But, not everyone seems to understand. Lol
I have sound. What oil do you use?
@@chiefandGranstan used olive on this one. Thanks for watching!
Lost audio just after you said grandkids burgers were done on one side. Hope it's not my phone!
Not sure why, sound stays on for me. Thanks for watching tho!
Looks delicious!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Good stuff!
Thanks!
Thanks Ralph and Susan! I wish I had a freezer full of chicken! Merry Christmas ❤
Thanks, Merry Christmas to you too!
How long will that last you? How do you properly store it?
@fromfjord it will last several months. Susan is canning chicken breast she we can pull it out for chicken salad, we'll vacuum seal and freeze tenders and leg quarters. We pick up another 30 Jan 28th. That will get us through the year.
The next batch will take 3 months to grow and we'll grind dark meat and make Chicken breakfast sausage and some turkey burgers, plus keep breast and tenders to eat. Thanks for Watching!
This is why you should go vegetarian
@@davidbeaulieu4815 hahaha... thanks for watching anyway! 😁
Soy bean production alone kills more animals than this man did with his homestead. Your moral superiority is imagined. Not to mention plants have signals akin to fear and they warn other plants around them when being harvested. Life is life, the important thing is to respect that which allows you to live and to not be an insufferable douchebag.
They look awesome
@@chiefandGranstan tomorrow is the big day
So cute.
@@LoisHunt-z8f thanks... it's a daily job! Lol
How big is your griddle? I put my dry ingredients in a trash bag and then drizzle in the seasoned wet mix and "tumble' until coated and then put on the griddle. ❤
@LoisHunt-z8f it's 36 inch. Big enough for a double batch - 6 cups of each chex, 2 cups of all other ingredients!
As an expert taste tester, I can confirm this is really good. Only confusing part is it disappears rather quickly!😄😄😄. Thanks for sharing.
Paula said to put her on the waiting list lol
@@JD-ze8ph we can fix her up!
I’m grabbing my walker and headed that way.😅
I can make another delivery... :-)
Ralph and Susan are awesome people. For those who watch their channel, please continue to support them in any way you can. They definitely pay it forward and are special type of people.
Thanks @chiefandGranstan We've got great neighbors!
The chicks look great! Thanks for sharing.
About 3 weeks till processing, but may hold till right after New Years!
I'm really glad that your channel got randomly recommended to me. Ive been watching your content for a couple of weeks now and I really enjoy it. I dont know what it is but you got it. God bless and greetings from Germany
@@michaelmuller6687 Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you found us! And welcome from Germany! May God bless you!
Thanks Ralph
@@chiefandGranstan no problem!
How did she make mozzarella cheese?
She buys raw milk locally and followed a recipe from @livingtraditionshomestead best mozzarella cheese ever
❤
Thanks for watching!
How long did the actual cutting up process take? Did you utilize that egg sac? Thanks for sharing. I always thought the bird had to be scalded.
@LoisHunt-z8f I had her cut up in about 20 mins, then taking care of the carcus was another 10-15. We just tossed the egg sack. We have scalded in the past, but that also requires plucking. It does leave the skin on, but faster this way and for our purposes, easier. Susan canned Turkey Broth today.
@MannsAdventures-bc3kt Thank you
Ive never tasted Goose. I assume it is like duck? Looked pretty good
@@LoisHunt-z8f it is similar to Duck. I actually prefer to roast the whole goose, like a turkey. But we only had the breast and thought we'd smoke it. It was good.
i love Gaston’s
@DalonCole we do too. This year will make 28 minus covid year
Thanks a ton buddy. We are grateful.
@@chiefandGranstan happy to help out! Love you guys!
Thats alot of chicks!!
@LoisHunt-z8f I built the chicken tractor to handle 50, but we don't like more than 40 in it.
That’s a big turkey breast!
It weighed 5.3 lbs and the tenders were 1.1 lbs. The whole turkey was 50 lbs before we processed it. Thanks for watching!
Perfect example as to why "men" should not compete in women's sports!
Hahaha.... we'll said!
@MannsAdventures-bc3kt Yep. God Bless brother.
How do you know if the chicks are warm enough?
@chiefandGranstan great question. If they will walk away from the light for food and water, they are ok. If not, you may have a problem. Thanks for watching!
How they will be okay. Its only gonna be high of 23 here on Friday! Thanks Ralph
Will be low 30's upper 20's. But another week, we can remove the tarps. Just need more feathers.
Where's the actual camping? Just Cabins and RV park
@Foof50 Sorry, no tent camping it started as rv only, then they built cabins.
Thanks Ralph. My mom loved Elvis. She was born in 1939. I still remember being in the car with her when the radio DJ broke in to say Elvis died. My mom pulled the car over and cried for the longest time. I was 11 years old❤
My brother and I were playing basketball in the driveway listening to the radio and I remember it. My younger brother cried. We used to sing Elvis songs when the parents had New Year's parties
