The Body is Amazing plus thoughts on ZONE 2 phenomenon
Road racing bikes, even endurance bikes, are extremely impractical
So I’ve lived in Saint Louis, I’m from Kansas, and I currently live in Portland. My experience is that the Midwest and the Plains have lots of gravel group rides, but places that are known for having an established cycling culture tend to either be road or mountain
You're totally right in every word you say, but throwing pearls after pigs is hopeless business a priori. Just have a look at Jesus Christ, - he didn't prove anything either.
I’m a big believer in 2 sets of wheels, rather than 1 bike for each discipline.
I'm a big believer in 11 sets of wheels for 11 bikes for 1 discipline
A cyclocross frameset is the best bike to build up. Trek crockett, crux dsw, canyon inflite. If you build them up you can choose to run a 1x or 2x. Tire choice etc. Some 35mm slicks or even 40mm is a thing now. Still fast. Super grippy and comfortable
The real answer is to just get one of each 😜
I’m in the same boat. I think all the over optimizing and hacking is missing the point for most people. This reminds me of something I read recently in Oliver Burkeman’s Meditation for Mortals where he talks about how you just have to focus on what to do in the next few moments rather than embarking on trying to become someone who is the thing. So like just sitting down and meditating rather than doing a bunch of research on how best to meditate
Gravel bike as a first bike all the way!!! I’m probably that Group 3 rider myself you described at the beginning and began 8 months ago on a gravel bike. Relaxed geometry and abundant tire options made it such a great way to get into bikes and really fall in love with cycling and drop bar bikes specifically. I’m not sure I ever would have wanted to get into racing or even continued riding if I’d started riding my Tarmac from the beginning. In my mind, the only way to go is a sub $1000 gravel bike to start. Fall in love with the sport, see what you like to ride and what you want to do in the future. If your answer to Question 3 after all of that is that, yes, you want to race, then time for a new bike! Keep that gravel bike for fund adventures, traveling to places you wouldn’t take your new carbon bike, experimenting, you name it! More bikes, more smiles!!
Recommending to ride a gravel bike on smooth roads is just silly.
Great point. Seems like social media pushes the gravel as an all-in-one
“Roadies suck” < 😂 yup we do!
When I was looking for my first road bike one of the dealers pushed a gravel bike on me even though it was clear I didn’t want one. The comical part was that the same salesman tried to push that bike on me a year earlier so it didn’t seem to sell very well. Gravel riding isn’t my thing but after an accidental ride in Kalamazoo Michigan I sort of see the appeal.
This is unhinged…but so efficient

Dude I watch and love all your content. Keep it up.
Camera slips down for me too despite friction paste. Might use some rubber bands or a zip tie to keep it pointed straight. Any other solutions?
Haha, hit all the key points 💯 Keep up the quirky short sharp quality content. Cheers 👏
Yes! Yes! Yes! It's an amazing sport and you tell our story better than anyone. Well done. Keep it rolling.
“Their concept of a bike ride is 30 minutes in the park… and it really made their butt hurt.” That’s so funny!
I stopped road racing about 10 years ago and don’t miss it at all. Did a couple this summer and still not hyped on road racing. I race cyclocross now. It’s wild that the bad attitudes in road cycling exist globally, at least they apologised after!
😂😂😂😂😂
I don't care about my friends as long as I have my bike
Dude you're so ridiculous! I'm laughing my head off just watching this stupid video 😆
Total win right there 💯
can you please tell this to pat he wont listen to me
Jesse Coyle Sugar Water Squad assemble !
I’m gonna get some of that right there. I use sugar dissolved in water every ride.
Hi
Gluten-free too.
yes thanks for adding
Well said and exactly right. Watching Terry B videos taught and inspired me to ride the perimeter of nyc and Central Park. Highlight of my summer! Smiling the entire time…yet forces complete focus
What was in the bottle. Saw the skratch but what did you drop in before that? As detailed as possible.
About 70g cane sugar + 30g skratch in each bottle
@@blindybikes thanks for that! Did you have to slowly build up to 70g of the cane sugar?
Ugh the clothing decisions are always the hardest decisions
You guys eat food before you ride??? /joking
yoooo, this is motivating!
What beans tho
Cabra of course
Why no commandante tho? Is this grinder a level up from the german folks?
so wassup did you regret your no warmers decision or nah?
I appreciate this video man! I'm a beginner cyclist and would like all the tips for an early ride. Thank you :-)
another great vid. thanks for sharing. i am curious though, what duration does this video cover in real time? wake up time to departure. seems so efficient, and it would be interesting to know just how slow i am.
thanks for watching - typically an hour ish to get out the door
In unit washer dryer flex
This shit got me out of bed and on the bike this morning
hell yeah
I was not expecting to be hit with such good life advice
Masterpiece. Enjoyed the musicality to the porta potty segment with the camera rattling.
This intro/breakfast segment was actually incredible, clock's presence livened up the early morning dry eye sensation you had going.
Really a nice video and i feel you speak to the heart for a lot of us. That was emotional for everyone i think, the story behind that victory just made it so memorable . He is such a cool guy and really down to earth in that strange way danes from his part of the country is known for.
what an amazing video describing the realities of road racing. Always think it’s best to just communicate like you seemed to be doing. Loved the shots of the aftermath, at the end of the day everyone is cooked together. As a collegiate rider this was a cool perspective.
Get noise dampening headphones like JBL or just earplugs, so you don't get infected by the estrogen that comes from these "women"
Wow! That was beautifully written, your description and words were so easy and pleasing. This video was a beautiful piece of art, amazing work! 😊😊🥰🥰
That was my favourite stage of the year
100%
3:30-4:15 feels like high art 😅 Gotta be a good feeling when things work like that
ha never that simple when the race is on
Work at fish factory was part of training I think. He didn't need to work there to fund his cycling. I think this was a great move by team bosses and important think for young athlete. To learn what hard work looks like. A lot of athletes these days don't have this experience, since they are starting at younger and younger age.
well explained
