I'm sorry. Do you get the error message when running the installer script or when using one of the tools? And can you tell me what the error message says?

Type wd1settings in the command line and hit enter. You should get a dialog box with an option to open the toolbar. Try that first. In some older versions of the kit, the Open Toolbar option doesn't work. If that's the case, you will have to open it manually. The steps are slightly different for Rhino8 and earlier versions of Rhino. If you have Rhino8... 1. In the menu, click on Windows > Toolbars 2. A window opens. You should see a dropdown called 'Toolbar files and toolbar groups'. If it doesn't say 'JewelryKit', click on it and set it to JewelryKit. (it probably says 'default') 3. Put a check in the empty checkbox next to the JewelryKit toolbar. 4. Click OK. If you have Rhino 6 or 7... 1. In the menu, click on Tools > Toolbar Layout 2. A window opens. You should see a list of the open toolbar files. Click on 'JewelryKit'. 3. Below the list of toolbar files, you should now see the JewelryKit toolbar. Put a checkmark next to it. 4. Click OK. Let me know if that helps.

Hi. It sounds like Record History is off. Type History in the command line and hit enter. Then, you will see the history options in the command line. Make sure that Record = Yes and Update = Yes. If they are set to No, just click on them and they will turn to Yes. Once they are both set to Yes, just hit Enter again to finalize the settings. Let me know if that helps.

By the way, while I'm working on this, I wonder if you could do me a favor and make sure you have the latest service release of Rhino installed. To check that, click on Help > Check for Updates and then on the window that pops up, click "Check Now." This will open an internet browser where you will see a white page. If you have the latest service release, it will say "Your installation is the newest available." If you don't, it will have a download link so you can download the latest service release. You click on it to download and then open the file to install it. It will need to restart Rhino, so be sure to save any work you have. It's just that sometimes I've seen people update to the latest service release, and my kit starts working for them without me changing anything. But, to be clear, this is optional. So only do it if you want to.

That would probably be an issue with the installer script. I will have to try to fix it and re-upload the script. Thanks for letting me know about that.

And I think you can just close the installer script window to stop the loop. If that doesn't work, you would have to close Rhino. And if you can't close Rhino, you would have to use Task Manager to close Rhino.

Okay, I've made a small change that might help. Be sure to delete the files you downloaded, then re-download the kit and the installer and run the installer again and let me know what happens. If you have the same issue, it's probably going to take me some time to figure it out...but please let me know. Thanks.

Okay, I've made another change that should just avoid this whole issue. So, if you're still having this issue, get the current version (v2.57) and let me know if you still have this problem (or any other problems) with the kit.

Hi. Scaling only the lines is how I intend it to work for the tutorial. If you want to also scale the pipes, you will need to also select the pipes before scaling (you can just draw a box around the lines and pipes to select them all). If you scale the pipes, though, just keep in mind that you will no longer be following the tutorial. So, you will probably end up with different results.

I was just going through my comments again, and I now I wonder if you mean the pipes are not scaling when you scale the lines. If that's the case, I think History is off. You can type History into the command line and make sure that RecordHistory = Yes and Update = Yes. And please let me know if that worked for you.

Hi! I'm not sure why you get 7,056 instead of 6,803, but 7 segments should work fine. When you click on the Flow Along Curve command (around 3:07), you need to set Stretch = Yes in the command line. That should make the segments fit perfectly around the circumference. If that doesn't work, I have a full tutorial on this ring where I slowly go over every step. The command to make it spin is Turntable.

If you mean for the sizing circle, moving the curve seam was optional for this project since it had no complicated details, but it's still a good habit to move the seam to the bottom. As a general rule, jewelry designers will put the seam of the sizing circle at the bottom to keep it as far away from details as possible as the curve seam will eventually become a seam in the surfaces, which can potentially cause problems in more complicated designs. There can be exceptions where the top would be a better choice, but the bottom is almost always a good choice. But for this particular project, like I said, moving the seam is optional.

I'm working on an update to the kit. I've tried to get rid of anything that would be specific to windows; so, it's possible that it will work on macs after this coming update. If you have a windows computer, you can download and install the free jewelry kit, like I explain in this video.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you may need to turn on edit points. If the edit points don't turn on automatically when you select the curve, then you may need to turn them on manually. To do that, select the curve, click on the curve tab, and then click on "Show object control points". If you have the default toolbars, it should be the 9th icon from the left. Then select the top control point. Then you can move just the top control point. Let me know if that helps.

It is kind of expensive. Some less expensive programs I eventually want to look into are Plasticity and Moi3D. I haven't had the chance or money to look into them yet, but you might want to (both have free trials). Also there's Blender, which is free, but very complicated and it uses a different type of modeling. I think there are some simplified 3d apps for phones, but I've never used any.

@@webduncetv build one..? For modelling and crafts with the added feature of using colour or part of a photo in the gallery. Form a hair brush to cogs for watches can be preliminary designed... fixed price and updates every 6 months, some free with some paid.. (£2, then £1 after)

It's a good idea. Unfortunately, even though I can code a little bit, building a 3D app is outside my coding abilities...and my math abilities. By the way, it turns out that McNeel (the company that makes Rhino) does make a mobile version called iRhino3D, but it is only for iPhones and iPads, not for android. It's more of a 3D viewer, maybe as an easy way to present models to clients, and you can make notes on a view. It also does room scanning and augmented reality. Hi. Sorry for the delayed response (I didn't get a notification for your comment for some reason). Sounds like a Rhino problem. My first thought is to update your Rhino. I'm using Rhino 8.10. On the menu across the top, click on Help > Check for Updates. You will get a dialog box. Even if it says your Rhino is up-to-date, click on the words "Check Now" and it should open your internet browser and take you web page that will either say that your installation is the newest available or that a new version is available with a download link. Click on the word "download" to download the latest update. And open the downloaded file to update Rhino. (I'm pretty sure you will have an update available.) One thing though, my stylized gem materials don't work correctly in the recent versions of Rhino8 (the Rhino devs say the material issue is a problem on their end, but I'm working on it, too). Let me know if this fixes it for you.
