it's not really pay to win, it's pay to get ahead quickly but only for a month or so, free to play players have no problems creating decent builds and competing with paying players. Even if you pay thousands of dollars in this game, no individual is better than a zerg, so it's actually more important to be in a competitive guild, being active and contributing rather than being an individual whale.

People like you have no idea what you're talking about. You can buy anything with currency earned by simply playing the game. That is not P2W. You also argue that players left because of what you claim to be P2W. Has it occured to you that they might have left because it wasn't what they expected? The game lost players, but that's entirely normal after release. In fact, this is the one of the few Asian MMOs who has still managed to keep afloat after release. And if you've been following Tico's Talks, you would know that NCSOFT has done a very good job of listening to the community. People don't really care about P2W anyway. It's only a vocal minority who still thinks that P2W matters in 2024. You want proof? Take a look at what happened to BDO. It was accused of being P2W back in 2017. Then people realized it doesn't really matter, even if it was true that it was P2W. Also, people keep confusing PFC with P2W. Pay for convenience is not the same as P2W. And remember this: There are two kinds of whales. The one who plays all the time (not everyone has that luxury) and the one who pays. And it's the people who pay that actually help to support the game (and if you buy lucent for real money and buy a weapon, the lucent is sent back to another player; it's a win-win situation). You think these game companies keep these MMOs running for the sake of charity?

I truly believe it's opinion based but thank you for sharing! I've noticed some pay features that give a boost but most is cosmetic and things you can get in game with alittle bit of work

@georgeblair3894 everything we've done so far is campaign. We only just saw a sandbox option recently on ps5 so we are hoping to try that out sometime

Some similar genshin mechanics, lots to do in the game such as game modes, such as a randomized dungeon which is also rogue like. Many ways to customize your party and characters individually, decent gacha rate, many free rewards, friendly community, funny secrets and detailed adventures, great story and visuals. No stamina system. These are just my opinion by the way with what I've played so far

Star rail has a lot of the good parts of genshin with a different battle mechanic. Alot of the progression is smoothed over like farming. It has a lot more of a focus on the gameplay and a lot smaller explorable areas that are denser. If you like the large world aspect of genshin you'll probably still like genshin more. I do recommend getting past the first planet it's really well done.
