Nellie Oleson wasn't a real person! Get your facts right! Nellie Oleson is a fictional character in the Little House series of autobiographical children's novels written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. She was portrayed by Alison Arngrim in the NBC television show Little House on the Prairie (1974 to 1983), where her role is much expanded. Three different girls from Laura Ingalls Wilder's childhood - Nellie Owens, Genevieve Masters and Stella Gilbert - were the basis for the fictional Nellie Oleson.

Sad that Rose never had any children to carry on Laura & Almonzo Wilder's legacy.

I am 70. I live in Ireland. I havd read all the books, travelled to all the places except Malone. Laura played the game, but she could write and I still enjoy reading the books. I guess Ma was sick of travelling but why they stayed in De Smitt, a very hard place I cannot understand.

But would John Jr stayed with Mary when she became blind some men can’t deal with that.

I used to watch the series with my great-grandmother, Sarita. She loved it because it reminded her of her childhood (she was from a very rural area in NM, so they were slow to catch up with modern fashion and conveniences). She also first lived in a dugout with her family until she was about 5 or so. She loved the clothes, horses, and wagons. We last visited the dugout site many decades ago and it was still there, but it was ruins by then. Now I'm sure we wouldn't even be able to find it, especially because Sarita's walked on now. I really hope she got to meet Laura Ingalls Wilder. =)

I’m working on a fanfiction story where John marries Mary after all and takes care of her when she goes blind. I can’t wait to finish it! I like Adam and all, but I still think having John forsake Mary at the ball just to cut him out of the show was a big mistake because it was completely out of character for him. Even the actor said so.

Much of the content in the show is fake; Mary getting married, Albert and a lot of other things that never happened in real life.

There actually wasn’t a Nellie Olson. That character was taken from many young girls. And the name of Laura’s husband was Almanzo. It was hard to take this video seriously as there were so many spelling errors.

No disrespect BUT you have “Almonzo’s” name wrong!! It’s AlmAnzo!! With an “A” and pronounced AL MAN ZO…,they actually made a mistake in the show and had to stick with it but they did realize it and you can find this out at his childhood home in upstate NY!

Mary was only 13 1/2 years old when she got engaged so she had plenty of time to get a new boyfriend, but I know her heart was broken for a while. Melissa Sue Anderson was a good actress. She could cry on cue.
