Ruff Road RV Life
United States
Приєднався 10 січ 2018
Hi! We are Ruff Road RV Life - a newly retired couple living and traveling in our RV, Ruff Road, with our two dogs. My name is Sharon and I'm a lover of all things nature - hiking, biking, kayaking, or just looking at the leaves blowing in the wind. My husband of 30 + years is Gary, a lover of all things fishing, water, and music. Our traveling companions are our two year old half husky girls, Terra and Luna.
Our goal for this channel is to share possibilities and our experiences with others. If there weren’t others out there doing the same thing, I might still be in a high stress job with no work/ home balance and no time for my family, husband, or nature adventures. I thank all those who have shared their experiences and we are here to share that a journey to freedom is possible. It has been over one year now since we took the plunge, sold our house, our stuff and moved into Ruff Road full time. We’ve never looked back. We couldn't be happier.

RV Retirement - How Much Did We Spend for Food, Fuel, and Campground Fees?
2024 RV Living and Travel Costs
#rvlifefulltime
We have been RV living since 2017! Since we were entering retirement, we watched our money closely. We started off with a budget and as we learned more about RV life and travel, we were able to ease up and relax a little. But, it was scary in the beginning!
Each year we share how much we spent on our food, fuel, and campground fees. We also share other expenses that RVers may have, other considerations. It costs much more than food, fuel, and fees, but since we are RV travelers, we have focused on these three costs.
Have you ever wondered how much it costs to RV in retirement?
Check out how much we spent last year!

Tanglewood Park - County Park and Campground Review
That’s huge , like a city 😮
I know! It is impressive! Touring the other dwellings were impressive, as well. Mesa Verde had been on my bucket list for years. Go if you ever get a chance. - Sharon
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
9:38
Does anyone else see it ? Lol
Great short! I am not a believer of Christ or Jesus. I am a non believer, I think it is all a lie…..But who am I to tell you what to believe.
Thanks for the comment. Our motto, live and let live. It's all good. 😊
Always enjoy your videos. Safe travels.
Thank you so much. We appreciate it! 😊
Army Corps of Engineers parks are terrific for seniors. But don't tell anyone 😄
Yes! We didn't even know about them when we first started RVing, but when we did - woohoo! 👍😀
I think for most full timers the first years is the most expensive due to the learning curve and also the desire to see everything. Your 2024 fuel costs are very reasonable and pretty low by most standards for a class A. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment. Yes, that's true about the first year RVing. We started out with a budget when we first started and we haven't strayed too far from it, despite touristy places and occasional fuel price spikes. Our travel style works for us. 👍😊
Are the fishing places within walking distance from the campsites?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. It just depends. COE parks are great parks often with waterfront sites that you can fish right from your campsite. Sometimes the water is too shallow, though. Gary has an ebike that he uses to drive to fishing or he just takes the car.
My favorite mountain park is Paris Mtn State Park and my favorite beach park is Huntington Beach State Park. I've stayed in 30 of the 48 SC state parks & love them all!!
Thanks for the info! We will add Paris Mtn State Park to our list. 😊 Huntington Beach State Park is already on it! 👍😊
Are you in Columbia now?
No. We have moved on and are now in Florida. 👍
Close to my stomping ground - I live in Greenville, SC. I love these kinds of campgrounds with trees and some distance between sites. Safe travels!
Nice area! Yes, we will happily put up with ruts and wonky campsites for the space, the trees, and the peace. 😊👋
Thanks for the video! I'm headed there today for a 2 week stay.
Thank you! Enjoy your trip. 😊👋
New Alexandria
Thank you. 😊
You MUST go to Huntington Beach State Park, SC. It's SOOO. awesome!!!
Thanks for the tip! We'll have to check it out. 👍😊
Also on the weekends the Indian Springs Hotel gives tours. Its been there since 1823, and in 1825 was the site of the first Indian Removal Treaty signing.
We need to check that out, thanks for the tip! 👍
Also, there were several battles fought at Fort Pickens, which was one of a few forts that remained in Union hands through the war. And, in addition to being “a cute little town “, Pensacola is the oldest town in the United States.
Thank you for that information. I am a native Floridian and did not know that! Thanks! 😊
Fort Pickens, like most of the coastal forts was modified during the Spanish American War, and used for both WWI and WWII
Thank you for the information. It is a beautiful piece of history. 😊
What do the showers cost there that site looks pretty good
I know some parks charge for showers if you are not camping. If you are camping, showers are free. If you are just looking for a shower only, call the park office and they can provide the cost, if any.
@ruffroadrvlife Thanks will do planning to build a travel trailer
hi where can i contact you guys
We are active in the comments on You Tube or our Facebook Group, Ruff Road RV Life. A lot of folks ask questions on this platform or FB. 👋
Thanks for the tour.
You're welcome! We hope it was helpful. 😊
Your daughter Tiffany is my fourth grade teacher
Hi there! Thanks for saying hello. 😊 We think you have a pretty amazing teacher. 👍
Thank you for your most wonderful review of this SP. Best I've seen anywhere! Going to explore your others now.
Thank you! We appreciate your comment. Enjoy exploring. 😊👋
Nice video...
We're glad you liked it! 😊
Great tour. I live about 40 miles west of there and have driven by and know a lot of locals near me camp there. Guess I will have to check it out.
Beautiful area there. This place is huge, we feel like we need another trip to explore other areas of the park. Hope you get to check it out! 👍😊
A lot of time camping at Jordan. Sites are beautiful and during summer most are reserved.
There are so many sites there! Maybe we'll see it in summer one of these trips.👍😊
My wife and I use the boat ramp at this park when we fish on that part of the river. My wife is from a small town near this park (Panacea Fl). We live in Georgia but own an old small mobile home down there that use to just get away from time to time.
It's a beautiful area and the perfect get away. 👍😊
I love Jordan Lake but I usually stay in Crosswinds Campground. Nice, large sites.
We need to check out Crosswinds Campground. We weren't even aware of it until after we were at Poplar Point. Thanks for the info! 😊
I've been over Wolf Creek several times westbound when I drove trucks. One of my most favorite, and one of the most beautiful, and deadly drives in the US. Used to always make sure to pull off into the overlook right there on the right beside the cliffside hairpin. Saw a small flock of wild mountain goats come within 50 ft of me as they made their way along. Walked out onto one of those eroded finger cliffs and sat down for a break and some lunch. I so badly want to go back in a car and see it all again.
It is a beautiful drive, although a little hand-ringing for first timers, but definitely doable. As a truck driver, you'll probably laugh about our driving out of the way to avoid relatively mild Raton Pass. We chuckle at that now too. 😆
How fun - we stayed here last year! We had bit of a wonky site too (#21), but I loved our time here! But we were at the dump station on the way out and the loudest alarm ever went off - something about the dam. That was a bit frightening.
Yes, the wonky sites, but worth a visit still. Wow! That sounds scary. I wonder what happened. We experienced the loud tornado sirens when traveling through Mississippi. That was an experience. 😬😆👋
Nice to see it in May! We weirdly enough spent two Christmas Days camped there in the last three years (and we are from the West Coast), so saw it in winter. We had a couple nice water view sites. This is a great park!
Oh, that's cool. Georgia isn't bad in the winter. Love the water views! Happy travels! 😊👋
You should've called Otis when you were in jail. He knows where the key is. 🙂
😆Right! He was the best.
Auntie would have loved this. She loved her Andy!
Yes, she would have. We talked about that when we were there. ❤
...💯
How did you find the mobile Rv repairman
Hi there! We searched in the area we would be staying for a few weeks and read reviews. We didn't need him last year, but this year we'll be giving him a call for a couple of things. We learned to schedule with him as soon as we can because he stays booked during Florida snowbird season. 👍
Nice video...
Thanks, we hope you found it helpful! Merry Christmas! 😊
We use this also. It's great.
Yes! I can't believe we were out half a year before we bought it. We love it! 👍👋😊
I followed your UA-cam video, your video quality and thumbnails are very nice, but your views are low, you know why your views are low, no tags, Title, Video SEO, Channel SEO setup, resulting in no views and no new visitors. I can help you get 1 million views in 2 months. Your revenue will increase 10 times you are interested
We appreciate the offer but we're not looking for outside help at this time. Thanks, though. 👍
another nice video THANKS
We appreciate the comment. 😊
your videos are very helpful I hope you continue doing these type of videos
We appreciate that! We enjoy making them too. 😊 Thank you for the comment.
I was there in 1960.
Wow. That's impressive. We're glad we stumbled across it - very interesting place. 👍
No shade just like a parking lot.
True, there's little shade there. In the area we were in, there is some shade. 👍
No shade At all.
Our area did have some shade. The other two areas did not, though.
I sooooo appreciate this video!
Thank you! We appreciate the comment. 😊👋
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Very helpful!
You're welcome! We're glad you found it helpful. 😊
That’s Home for me live 10 miles fromLil Beaver
Oh, that's great! We wanted to stay longer. Next time! 😊👍
Love this campground but stopping by in hopes someone can help me find the owner to some mountain bike accessories found on the Harveysburg loop trail. Dec 1 .. personally i do not have a facebook page so I am trying to get any help i can to find the owner of these expensive items i would want back if they were mine.
We hope you find the owner. Have you posted on local bike forums? That might be a good start. 👍😊
@ruffroadrvlife where would I find those? Not on FB I hope. I have FB....... Thank you
I love the way all the cars look. It’ll be interesting to look back at all the crossover SUVs in 20 to 40 years from now
Oh, that would be interesting. We watch the cars and trucks as they pass, picking out our next tow vehicle. Sadly, most of them are not flat towable, but we are still looking. 😆
Great video tour and song 🎶 Our leader of the TOWN (Texas Outdoors Woman Network) Fort Worth chapter, shared this with us. Thanks 😊
Thank you! We appreciate the share and the comment. I love that you all have an outdoors women group! 💖
Lol are you enjoying your lectric ebike?
😆Yes, he is. Not one crash since that first ride! 😆👍
