Loch Ness Monster ORIGINAL Version Front Seat On-Ride BEFORE Refurbishment!
One year ago on the day of publishing this video, I took some of my final rides on the legendary Loch Ness Monster before its 2024 refurbishment. While it has since reopened and the refurbished version is smoother, better themed, and overall superior, I wanted to take a look back at the version that got me into riding coasters. I’m talking all the janky transitions, bumps, the original interlocking loop structure, and the all around beautiful essence of the original version built in 1978 by Arrow Dynamics. So I bring you this front seat POV, never before seen, never uploaded, with some cinematic off-ride. This was the first ever POV I took, and it was with a lended GoPro from my best friend @VortexCreations. If it wasn’t for his generosity, I would not have been able to shoot this POV, so if you haven’t checked him out, you know what to do. Thanks so much for watching, and I hope to continue the grind for all you amazing coaster lovers out there!

Busch Gardens Project 2025 Construction Update 25th June - Land Clearing Begins!
Storm is back in action! Glad to see footage of the Old Loch Ness up here without THAT dredded new on board audio track from the new incarnation. That actors' voice over is frankly annoying. 😫 I actually prefer the way IT used to be without the theatrics. That WALMART TV 📺 wall 🧱 in the cave isn't selling me either. Too many visuals on the new one. Thanks mate for keeping it OG! 🎢 Coast ya later! ✌️
Well, I’m still running low on motivation to do commentary if I’m honest. (or I’m just getting lazy, God forbid) I love the lift hill audio, and I think a lot of the stuff they added is great. But the Walmart TV definitely was not needed. 😂
You should do one of Viper at Six Flags Great Adventure LMAO
Ohhh that’s a good one!
i love that layout
It was and still is unique!
It’s been seven years since this thing has opened and it’s already feeling like it’s 50 lol I think they need to turn it into an RMC
For real, they should have never built it in the first place. 💀
My theory is that the newer trains were the cause.
How so?
@BliXXardStorm it just doesn't make sense that S&S would allow the acceleration to be injurious. My theory is that the vest restraints, coupled with the inability of the ride ops to staple the guests, led to an already monstrous acceleration being a little too hard on the body. If it was just the acceleration, we would have heard about incidents before COVID.
@alaeriia01 good point!
wow it actually looks pretty fun it doesnt seem too intense
The definition of family thrill, it’s only seven years old, but it’s starting to get rough for some reason. Night rides are good, though.
If I'm not mistaken, Carolina Cyclone was the 2nd Arrow Dynamics Rollercoaster that was constructed without having those Ugly Ass Lattice Arches over The Inversions. The 1st being Corkscrew at Michigan's Adventure in 1979. Without The Lattice Arches, The Inversions have a Beautiful Streamline Look. As with Corkscrew at Valley Fair, and even Canyon Blaster at Adventure Dome in Las Vegas. And the New Paint Scheme on Carolina Cyclone looks Absolutely Fantastic!!!!
I still disagree with the argument that the lattice structure is ugly. It added a very cool “archway” look to Arrow’s inversions and it was ahead of its time until they moved on. Sure, the improved design looks better, but there’s something about the lattice structure that I like a lot. Anyway, I totally love the new color scheme as well!
@@BliXXardStorm Without The Lattice Arches, The Corkscrew section has the look of Defying Gravity. What Arrow did was to make The Track Gage Ties Much Thicker, and weld close together Throughout The Entire Inversions to give The Track Strenght, and Integrity to handle the weight of The Trains, and still allow for Track Flexing. You can see the difference in photos of Coasters I meantioned. What a shame Arrow went belly-up after the construction of X/X2 A Rollercoaster that orignally had a price tag of $25,000,000 and ended up costing $45,000,000. Tennessee Tornado was Arrow's last traditional Looper. And it Looks, and Rides just as beautiful without those Ugly Lattice Arches!!🤣🤣🤣🎢❤
@@ellexking9136 Arrow always has and always will be the GOAT.
@@BliXXardStorm Absolutely!! I still hate the fact that Vortex was removed from Kings Island after the 2019 season. It could have been rehabbed just like Lochness Monster, with Track manufactured by Premier Rides with The Exact Arrow Dynamics Specifications. Disneyland just announced that Big Thunder Mountain Rollercoaster is closing for a Major Overhaul and will reopen in 2026.
@ellexking9136 oh, sweet! I didn’t know about that announcement!
Grover but every second a pipe falls
1:00 Helix of PIPES
And to think that’s probably not even the worst part of the ride…
@@BliXXardStorm Most certainly.
I remember this piece of trash. This was the only ride to hurt my chest. Because the restraints had padding that was only on the exterior side. Leaving a hard metal frame up against you and THESE transitions. Stuff like this makes me sad to be in Washington as a Coaster Enthusiast
Yikes! And this was probably one of the better coasters to arrive in Washington at the time. You guys need some help in the Washington coaster business *badly!*
@BliXXardStorm that was the last major coaster to arrive in Washington. The last one before that was the Timberhawk in 2002. Technically last year we got an Alpine Coaster. It's admittedly awesome but yeah, the coaster scene out here SUCKS
@@rct3isepic I bet. 😬
How the flip did a group of engineers think that this would be a good ride????
It was well received during its time at Great Adventure and Great America, and it was a compact but thrilling ride. It was just the relocations supposedly that made this ride incredibly rough.
Please do this for Demon at Six Flags Great America
Noted!
0:22, 0:46, 0:56
A true piece of art
My finest work 🫡
Now do this with Raptor at Cedar Point. IYKYK
I do not know, but I have heard that suggestion before. Describe that ride’s bad transitions for me so I can accurately portray it because I’ve never been to Cedar Point.
@@BliXXardStormthe ride is extremely smooth and forceful, except for the very last turn into the brakes, which is an oof moment worthy of a Vekoma SLC. Hence, the comedy would be no pipes falling until the very end, which would be a zoomed in pipe moment.
@@alaeriia01 alright, cool. Will do!
Six Flags: we don't why our coaster turned bad, it was good and we still mantain it well! Also Six Flags: ok two years is enough let's relocate it again, cause we don't want to spend cash on quality new rides for every park. People are stupid and will believe it's brand new
😂 it worked, though.
What makes it worse is how slow it looks 💀
If there was ever a coaster to do this with... It's this.
If i counted right, this ride have 16 or 17 bad transition. *Warning: This comment might contain spoilers for you. So, watch this video before reading this comment.*
Now we new a recreation of this and call it son of flashback
Oh gosh.. 😭
It could be taller, faster, and it could even have a slightly shorter cloned side that the train hops back and forth between
Wow earrape
Warning is there for a reason! 😂
