The Beginner's Guide to Meditation - Start Your Journey to Mindful Living
I m an ADHD BORDERLINE I have 28 yo, luckily since I was 2 yo I lived in a house in front of the ocean ( slept on that sound and woke up on it )and I did surfing for almost 18 years of my life, I was so balanced and chill even if sometimes my borderline a$$ could be very angry and dramatic but few years ago I had some traumas that let me quit our home to a city without any ocean and my anxiety adhd borderline depression has augmented to the point I can’t even get out off the bed neither be creative, I m struggling to a point I’m seeing everything on black. All this to say that I discovered that the ocean the walk on the beach was a real medication for my adhd and mental illness and everything got worse after changing this routine. Stay near the nature it will help a lot it did years of my life in my case. Take care 🌹
I appreciate you opening up about your experiences. Your words remind us all of the importance of nature and how it can impact our well-being 🫶🏼
Someone showed me this last year, I just want to by chance they ever see this know I still think of this and practiced it at the location I talked to you about, with you in my thoughts. My best unconditional wishes to you, S
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
Beautiful video and music. Please just don't add ads. :)
Thank you I was feeling anxious randomly and then this popped up and helped me calm down before it got worse.🥰🥹👍🤗
This comment means a lot! We're so glad it helped you 🙏🏽
My psychologist recommended I listen this. I have moderate depression from being a care giver. But I don’t understand what’s going on? Can someone explain? Thank you
Thank you for your comment. I hope you found the meditation helpful. I hope that your psychologist will be able to explain how the experience of being a caregiver has impacted on your mood and depression as part of their therapy with you. Meditations like Leaves on a Stream can help build up our skills to navigate life’s stressors so I hope they over time may be of assistance. Wishing you all the best with your mental wellbeing and health!
@@wellmindbodypsychology that’s the thing, I don’t understand how it helps? Or am I doing it wrongly
@@allergy4000 Hello, we are very aware that the specifics of how the following relates to your situation will be best explored further with your individual health practitioner/psychologist and also as we cannot know the exact reason why they recommended these meditations in your case. Broadly speaking though The Leaves on a Stream meditation practice is helping us build the skill of defusion, where we can “watch" our thoughts and not feel as “fused” with them. When we are able to defuse from our thoughts, and watch them, then we can realise that we are not our thoughts (or emotions, or physical sensations etc), and during those moments we can find moments of choice - choice potentially related to how we react and respond to something, or choice regarding what behaviours and actions we follow. There can be a lot more to explore with this, and therefore also a need to make this specific to your life and situations, however, in general this meditation is a very valuable skill that when practiced over time can help us feel more centred and less impacted by our thoughts and feelings etc. Hope this helps, and also if you would like to find further information about this - there is plenty of wonderful information explaining the mechanisms of defusion and mindfulness mediation. This meditation is also part of the Acceptance & Commitment Therapy approach, so this can also be something to search for and read more about. All the best
@@wellmindbodypsychology thank you
GREAT video😊🙏🏻 thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, what if you have a slow processing speed disorder, ADHD (inattentive type) and a brain processing disorder? Can you eventually become mindful of your surroundings and thoughts? I literally dont know what I think about during the day/night, and cant trace back to my thoughts and remember, and its hard for me to interpret (with my brain) what im seeing but my physical eyes see (if that makes sense) then I forget what the purpose of anything, are these diagnosis at least accurate to your knowledge? I also hate noises, and I get distracted very easily and cant reason as much. I notice, when im mindful of anything, especially objects, I feel confident but its harder than the average to maintain or keep up
Hi there, thank you for your comment and for listening to our meditation exercise. With regards to your question related to the accuracy of your diagnosis, unfortunately it is never easy to comment without doing a thorough diagnostic assessment so as to tease out all the possibilities. Holding neuroplasticity in mind, it is always possible that with practice over time you may develop the awareness and mindfulness that you're curious about. However, it's also OK if these exercises are not the best ones for you to practice these things - you may start with a practice that is shorter in duration, or has more stimuili, or is more physical in nature (such as martial arts, or mindful walking etc). It does sound to me like you're able to do the mindfulness of objects exercises, and so therefore, if it's about keeping up or maintaining the focus, then I wouldn't judge that and hold it gently, bringing your attention back when you can. Hope this helps 🤓
this is my favorite one so far
I have been using this for months now without any problem. This is perfect as this is short and calming. But today there was an advertisement in the middle which interrupted the meditation. 😕
Thank you for letting us know! We've removed the mid-roll ads now.
Nice meditation but I personally don’t like the chime sounds. It causes me to jump
Thank you for the feedback. Perhaps we can lower the sound on our future meditations.
Excellent insights in this meditation - thanks so much for creating it Amber :)
Thank you Shamash! Glad you enjoyed it.
We would love to hear how you found this meditation 🤗
I was just listening to this and as I was getting relaxed and started to focus a stupid ad popped up and just ruined my sleep. I won’t be using this anymore it sucks
Sorry to hear, we've adjusted the video, we've removed the mid-roll ads. We appreciate your feedback!
Needs some white noise in the background
Thank you for the great suggestion. We might do a second version :)
This is for me one of .the best meditation including kindness for you and people around you. Love it❤
Thank you so much for you comment & feedback 😊
Amazing exercise 👏
Thank you!
This is so calming and really helpful!! Thank you ❤️ A really good way to accept what emotions/situations we're going through and feel more at peace with that.
Thank you, much appreciated 😊
Let us know what type of Journaling is your favourite, and how you stay motivated?
You are so sweet darling.... Love from India ❤
OMG you seriously have ads on this video. This video must be a practical joke!!! I’m sorry for such a harsh comment but I really needed to relax. This caught me on a bad day.
Apologies, we've since removed the mid-roll ads. We're hoping this will improve the experience.
This was my first time doing the exercise. I used a "brain" 🧠 shaped candle I had sitting out for Halloween ironically enough. First time went well, but I've been zen today. Curious to see the difference when i do it in the middle of a busy work day As per I was instructed in a DBT book I will be doing this at least once daily for the next 2 weeks. Thanks for making this video so I didnt have to record myself asking the questions. That in itself would be distracting. Lol
Sounds great, so glad the first time went well. Be sure to let us know how you go during the week 😁
A classmate posted this technique to help manage anxiety and stress, and promote mindfulness. I always have racing thoughts, and this helped me. I intend to use it regularly to help me manage my thoughts.
Thanks Wendy! It's not as easy as it sounds is it. So glad you found our version helpful :)
I love the ending 🥰
❤
Thank you :)

Beautiful, thank you :)
You're welcome 🙏
I like this one better than the one without music for two reasons: 1) the music helps maintain atmosphere and 2) no ads popping up in the middle. Your voice is wonderful and appropriate and helpful. Thank you!
Thanks so much for your feedback Chuck, we really appreciate it!! 🙏🏽 Hope you have a wonderful day 🤗
This 6 Meditations Pack + eJournal will teach you how to look inwards, and be kinder and more compassionate to yourself.
Thank you very much for sharing this Mindful Eating Meditation. I will try this more with my breakfasts.
Wonderful 🙏🏽 Hope it's been of benefit!
This is the one for me. Thank you.
Thanks, that's lovely to hear
We now have this same meditation with gentle 50 BPM Music in the background for those wishing to try it out. ua-cam.com/video/X2ldbacznCQ/v-deo.html
Ha! You read my mind. I like the pace of this, and I like that this goes “top down” instead of feet up. I enjoy the speaker - her voice is wonderful! The video game ad in the middle was a little jarring, tho. But the rest was great, and I’m going to try the one with the slow music tomorrow!
Unfortunately I need to delete this from my playlist due to the ad 3/4 into it. Otherwise it was well done. :•\
After two ad interruptions, I am switching to a different body scan mediation. I use body scans to fall asleep and the ads completely ruin it for me. I thought I'd try this new channel, but definitely will not be back because of the intrusive ads.
Oh we’re so sorry for your experience Carolynn, and we really appreciate that you gave our channel and the body scan a go. Unfortunately at this stage we have no control over where the ads occur, however, hopefully in the future we may be able to position them differently if you ever wish to give us another visit 😊
I like the "option" of keeping my eyes open. I have a beautiful tree whose branches fill my window, and it makes for such a calming view.
That sounds lovely :)
