Befriending Your Feelings | (ACT) MEDITATION
Human beings don’t naturally enjoy feeling sad, angry or scared. And yet these emotions are a
natural part of the human condition. One tool for greatly enhancing your happiness is to allow
yourself to feel all of your feelings.
This easy, 5 minute guided meditation, will let you feel some of those more
negative feelings, with greater ease.

    I m an ADHD BORDERLINE I have 28 yo, luckily since I was 2 yo I lived in a house in front of the ocean ( slept on that sound and woke up on it )and I did surfing for almost 18 years of my life, I was so balanced and chill even if sometimes my borderline a$$ could be very angry and dramatic but few years ago I had some traumas that let me quit our home to a city without any ocean and my anxiety adhd borderline depression has augmented to the point I can’t even get out off the bed neither be creative, I m struggling to a point I’m seeing everything on black. All this to say that I discovered that the ocean the walk on the beach was a real medication for my adhd and mental illness and everything got worse after changing this routine. Stay near the nature it will help a lot it did years of my life in my case. Take care 🌹

      Thank you for your comment. I hope you found the meditation helpful. I hope that your psychologist will be able to explain how the experience of being a caregiver has impacted on your mood and depression as part of their therapy with you. Meditations like Leaves on a Stream can help build up our skills to navigate life’s stressors so I hope they over time may be of assistance. Wishing you all the best with your mental wellbeing and health!

    • @wellmindbodypsychology
      @wellmindbodypsychology 6 місяців тому

      @@allergy4000 Hello, we are very aware that the specifics of how the following relates to your situation will be best explored further with your individual health practitioner/psychologist and also as we cannot know the exact reason why they recommended these meditations in your case. Broadly speaking though The Leaves on a Stream meditation practice is helping us build the skill of defusion, where we can “watch" our thoughts and not feel as “fused” with them. When we are able to defuse from our thoughts, and watch them, then we can realise that we are not our thoughts (or emotions, or physical sensations etc), and during those moments we can find moments of choice - choice potentially related to how we react and respond to something, or choice regarding what behaviours and actions we follow. There can be a lot more to explore with this, and therefore also a need to make this specific to your life and situations, however, in general this meditation is a very valuable skill that when practiced over time can help us feel more centred and less impacted by our thoughts and feelings etc. Hope this helps, and also if you would like to find further information about this - there is plenty of wonderful information explaining the mechanisms of defusion and mindfulness mediation. This meditation is also part of the Acceptance & Commitment Therapy approach, so this can also be something to search for and read more about. All the best

    Hi, what if you have a slow processing speed disorder, ADHD (inattentive type) and a brain processing disorder? Can you eventually become mindful of your surroundings and thoughts? I literally dont know what I think about during the day/night, and cant trace back to my thoughts and remember, and its hard for me to interpret (with my brain) what im seeing but my physical eyes see (if that makes sense) then I forget what the purpose of anything, are these diagnosis at least accurate to your knowledge? I also hate noises, and I get distracted very easily and cant reason as much. I notice, when im mindful of anything, especially objects, I feel confident but its harder than the average to maintain or keep up

    • @wellmindbodypsychology
      @wellmindbodypsychology 5 місяців тому

      Hi there, thank you for your comment and for listening to our meditation exercise. With regards to your question related to the accuracy of your diagnosis, unfortunately it is never easy to comment without doing a thorough diagnostic assessment so as to tease out all the possibilities. Holding neuroplasticity in mind, it is always possible that with practice over time you may develop the awareness and mindfulness that you're curious about. However, it's also OK if these exercises are not the best ones for you to practice these things - you may start with a practice that is shorter in duration, or has more stimuili, or is more physical in nature (such as martial arts, or mindful walking etc). It does sound to me like you're able to do the mindfulness of objects exercises, and so therefore, if it's about keeping up or maintaining the focus, then I wouldn't judge that and hold it gently, bringing your attention back when you can. Hope this helps 🤓

    精神病人有一個共通點,通常佢哋都俾人感覺腦筋轉得比較緩慢,其實應該係perception嘅問題,能夠做到一眼關七,耳聽八方,自然會有自信,有啲病不藥而癒,邊啲藥能夠改善佢邊方面嘅perception?精神科醫生識個屁。有啲藥能夠改善精神分裂者嘅perception,市面上出咗20年,香港都仲未有得處方,你話嗰班高層做乜,用VR改善他們的perception,班高層更加唔識,一個精神科醫生,讀咗咁多書,理論多多,你話什麼血清素,講一大截,但係你話什麼血清素會改變某一個人嘅perception,佢哋諗都冇諗過,佢哋只係舊式嘅思想,自己冇病,又唔諗辦法量度別人嘅perception,成日話自己開有用,逼個病人食,就係因為佢哋攞住醫生嘅名銜,輕易取得別人信任,不思進取,所以我先堅持將精神科撥出醫學院,由心理學科主管。

    This was my first time doing the exercise. I used a "brain" 🧠 shaped candle I had sitting out for Halloween ironically enough. First time went well, but I've been zen today. Curious to see the difference when i do it in the middle of a busy work day As per I was instructed in a DBT book I will be doing this at least once daily for the next 2 weeks. Thanks for making this video so I didnt have to record myself asking the questions. That in itself would be distracting. Lol
