Aren't hawks & ravens (mature adults at least) about evenly matched in size? Ravens are a lot smarter, look how one of them was using the table top for cover. I agree, it must be about territory, or else that hawk wanted some of that food. Maybe it's really hungry 'cause it can't get the chickens?

not about territory ...this is hunting crows, at least training...one day he will catch one...of their youngsters, i told you so ....

he is not a good father :D but yes, the younger birds have mostly still bluish eyes and their inner mouth stays pink until they are around 2 years old actually. so if a bird has no visible pink any more, it is older than 2 for sure. but the babies are just too cute.

They're always around me here, and it was the same way in London around the hotel. The other day sitting outside, a small young one started hopping towards me, but then changed its mind. Another novelty in my life as of years ago.

They are so damned cute!!! I love these beautiful, magnificent creatures. They are like shadows that dance and roam the lands, bestowing us with their intelligence and grace everywhere they appear.

I gathered from that conversation, that the Male crow is nagged as much by his Female, and has as long a "Honey Do List," as we Human Males do! 😁

I would image is the male who is doing the talk because of his voice. Lovely couple !.

We used to have a raven couple that nested in the trees in the back of our house. They came for years to this spot to have their babies. It's been so interesting to see this and to hear these smart birds! The pair taught their babies raven talk and that was fascinating! We haven't seen them in a couple of years now but for a while it was so neat to have them there doing their raven thing!! 😊❤❤

I smiled seeing this. We have a Raven pair who use a cedar tree in our garden on and off and they chat to each other. Its amazing.

I’ve been feeding about 50 ravens every morning during the winter, for about 20 years. The first snowfall, they appear. They fly over a pass in the Chugach mountains at dawn. I love watching the couples drop from about a thousand feet, down into the yard. In late winter, they start flirting with their mates -feeding each other, grooming, and performing aerobatics together. After eating, they’ll sit together on large branches or light poles and nuzzle. “You’re cute.” “No, YOU’RE cute!” Last year, a white raven came to town. I’m just dying to see it🖤🤍🎉

My Auntie Nancy, may God rest her beautiful soul, used to feed the ravens on her driveway in Sedona, AZ every morning there would be dozens of them and they’d come right up to her fearlessly!
