YSS FORK UPGRADE ON ROYAL ENFIELD GT 650
I install the YSS fork upgrade on a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. YSS leaves out a couple of steps for the install and those get filled in. There are some tips for disassembly and reassembly. I discuss adjustment after install and my initial adjustments. Quick review after a 100 miles at the end.
Apologies about the video quality. I got a new camera and it appears it was worth every penny I paid for it. I think I will keep it for long shots, but I need to get something better.

NOT ANOTHER HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLBOX REVIEW
Переглядів 223Рік тому
After not doing any videos for about six months, I bought this great Harbor Freight toolbox and had to do a quick review of it. Great price, good build quality, comes in lots of colors NOTE: It looks like the titling got time shifted about 5 seconds. Mistakes are the signature of a What is the Wheel video.
Solution: Pump all the fuel back into the tank
Переглядів 4122 роки тому
That's right, it turns out the thing to do when you need to run a pump on your Go Kart is to just run all of the fuel back in to the fuel tank. Extra benefit, I will never run out of gas. A T fitting is the best regulator.
SO MUCH PRESSURE, IT'S A FIRE HAZARD
Переглядів 5342 роки тому
Well....., darn. This did not work out as planned. Turns out even a low pressure regulator needs some back pressure to reach a cut off point. SInce the needle has a very low relief point, the regulator never reaches its cut off point.
Exploding Torque Converter Fixed
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
Today I take care of my torque converter problem, turns out Comet clones don't really like being spun over 8000rpm. The Tork-Zilla has ZERO problems with the revs. I solved my leaky carb problem by adjusting the float height and created a new leak with a fuel pressure regulator.
HOT ROD PREDATOR FIRST START PLUS FAILURE

Sorry I had no content last week, my employer decided to see how many hours I could work in 8 days(Turns out to be about 107). I finally got footage of the first start of my 212 Predator edited and here it is. This is a real first start, I did not start it off camera to do a pre-show shake down, and it shows. It does an on-air shake down as the hardware tried to fly off, engine tries to vibrate...
Mikuni VM26 on Predator throttle linkage setup, Part II
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
Part II of the throttle linkage build, Part I is here: ua-cam.com/video/MibSKLto4Cc/v-deo.html A few twists and turns, including my limited skill on the lathe and inability to judge how long it is going to take me to do something, turned this into more of a project than it seemed to be when it was in my head.
Go Kart needs a throttle linkage for the Mikuni
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 роки тому
Today I build a throttle linkage for my Mikuni VM26 on the the hotrodded Predator 212. Actually, I built half of it but motorcycles were calling and I ran out of time, so next week will be part 2. I have some good ideas on this project but leave a comment if you have any suggestions to make it better.
Predator 212 Mikuni VM26 install, Port Matching=Free Power
Переглядів 5 тис.2 роки тому
I finally get around to installing a Mikuni VM26 after taking the easy way out and buying a intake/stand off/adaptor. I do a comparison with the stock carb, talk about the carb options and the best part, Power Secrets. That's right Port Matching, a great way to free power. The Predators are a solid base for building a hot motor, but they do have some issues, the manifolds, intake and exhaust, a...
SW-Motech bag install on a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Переглядів 11 тис.2 роки тому
As much as I love the clean and classic look of my GT 650, I needed to be able to carry stuff with something better than a backpack. I ordered the SLC Urban ABS bag kit directly from SW-Motech. The install is easy except for a minor issue with one bolt that is a little to long. The bags hold plenty for running errands and would be fine for a multi day trip although they can't fit a helmet. The ...
Free-Flowing Predator 212 Exhaust Manifold build, that stock one was a cork. Pt. 2

Part 2 is here. Not 100% thrilled with the result, it is functional but not the level of finish I like(and my standards are pretty low). Free-Flowing Predator 212 Exhaust Manifold build, that stock one was a cork. Pt. 1

Today we have a little puppet show on how small and terrible the stock exhaust manifold is and I try to make a free flowing one. I say, "try", because I ran out of time so the dramatic conclusion will have to wait til next week. GETTING THE MOST PERFORMANCE OUT OF YOUR COMET TORQUE CONVERTER CLONE
Переглядів 43 тис.2 роки тому
Comet torque converter(TC) clones are cheap on Ebay and we are lured by the low, low price. I wanted to try for Comet performance at the Clone price, but you have to spend money to be broke. The big issue for the Clone is the springs in it are not a known value, we don't know at what rpm they make the clutch engage, we don't know how they respond to belt tension to increase the gear ratio. So I...
AMAZING CHEAP FLAT PANEL SPEAKER BUILD, NO GO KART TIME FOR YOU
Переглядів 1,7 тис.2 роки тому
I'm waiting for engine parts to show up and I wanted to try a new center channel speaker out, so I build one. This is a flat panel design using Owens Corning Foamular insulation board(1"x2'x2', $6.25). This stuff is amazing for building clean sounding panel speakers. The driver is a Dayton Audio DAEX25VT-4 ($15, I like the DAEX25 Sound Exciters too, and they are $25 a pair). These speakers offe...

Is a full face helmet goes inside please ? Thanks.
@@fabricel2600 unfortunately, a full face does not fit.
Find presentation and nice vdo !
I didn't watch the whole video, but just a word of caution: The numbers on the regulator are NOT PSI. They are just numbers from low to hi. So don't think that number 3 means it is regulating the fuel to 3 PSI. Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and you'll see what I mean.
Turned out nice. But why not one simple 3" wide strap between the two back holes. The fuel pump is not 8" x 10".
U don’t talk to much. You’re excellent at what you do and it teaches us a lot. Thank you.
I love my Milwaukee 90 grinder . Has plenty of power , nice information thank you for your time
The hemi predator 212 piston is a flat top.
Is the screen replaceable on these machines?
@@briarpalek9254 You are going to have to make one or find a junker for spare parts. I kept on the lookout and bought a spare to keep this one running.
@WhatIsTheWheel Thanks for the reply, I have a possible purchase of one of these machines and haven't had an opportunity to look at the details of its build yet. The original screen is in tact, I just want to remove it and fabricate a new one with smaller holes to get a smaller particle size for grinding leaves into pieces the size of a pencil eraser or smaller. I have 2 hammermills for grinding animal feed and heavy wood chips, but they are way overkill in size for doing leaves only. The screens on those units are easily changed for doing heavy chunks, down to flour if needed. They can be powered by a farm tractor or 10hp electric motor. They are just too large for doing small loads of fluffy leaves. This chipper/mulcher looks more reasonably sized for this application.
I just used my tips of my feet on edge to hold down as I twisted it. C clamps work well too just don't over tighten and bent something!

2yrs late but hey this comes in handy thank 4 info
Hello from Spain Mr Chuck, very instructive and professional video, thank you very much !
whats the rims size ?
I would think one could buy a set of oem rear signals on like ebay etc and take off the same plastic part and mount them on front, then both be same and yes I may do this now as I can't stand the Shrek look (I call it haha)) Definitely shorter way better eh!
Well my tc stock engages at about 2500 to 2600 rpms. I just want to say, even tho you eliminated an unknown in the spring, you still have to consider the weight of the weights. Are they consistent as well? I think the best way to figure out the engagement is with a tach/hour meter. Bcoz i think my motor would work better if it engaged around 2200. The other thing im finding out is those weights inside the driver can and do come out of balance often and vibrate. Do you experience this too and what did you do to remedy it? I dont like how they are inside the two "bells". There is nothing at all keeping them from moving out from centre unlike say the 40 series. Msybe i should weigh my weights and check to see if they are the same..... Thats an idea i just thought about. Or, cut 2 channels on each weight and weld tracks on the "bell" so as they fling out the channels and tracks keep them always in the same place and it wont change much when it comes for disassembly? Bcoz the vibration is irritating.
Thank you for the informative video! Can you suggest roughly how many degrees of caster I should start with for a similar kart as shown in your video?
Hey man just stumbled across your video and you might have saved me. I bought the car with this DV installed and I started experiencing turbo flutter at low boost and now it’s like my car suddenly over boosts and I get flutter when I back off at even the first sign of boost. Is this because it needs to be maintained and lubed? I’m sorry for all the questions but I’ve never had a car with a DV before
Sounds like it is stuck barely open. Definitely check it as soon as you can. If the brass piston is not to scarred up you should be able to clean/lube and stick it back together.
@@WhatIsTheWheel thanks man, great service you’ve done putting this video up. I’ve got the turbo smart dual port as well so if I can’t fix it I’ll just do the BOV conversion, not sure if one is better than the other?
Nice machining
Hi! Where do you buy the nut? Thanks!
Your go kart looks so cool!! Am looking for a affordable rear and front axel for a plan
I got most of my parts from OMB warehouse and some stuff from Amazon
I found it easier when it's bolt to the engine.
U talk way too much!!
This is not the first time I have heard that
I see a can of Kroil on that bench, I wish I could still find that stuff locally is phenomenal
It is great. I think I had to order it.
I'm puzzled! EVERYTHING on a Royal Enfield 650 is METRIC..... Why did you just no use a 27mm Metric socket as the factory intended? No need to ruin a perfectly good nut with a sander. 🫣.
It is not a 27mm socket it is a 27mm Hex or Allen. They start around $25 and require 1" drive tools. The tool I made used the nut I ground down in the video and a cracked socket I had in my junk drawer, the cost was less than $2. The socket was trash, but I kept it for a purpose just like this.
what’s the value of it?
Where did you find those tires?
Amazon Look up Vevor Go Kart wheels They come with the rim and tire as pairs(or maybe the set of 4)
Comprimising the pressure chamber of the regulator is a bad idea. I would instead make a mount that used the existing seal/flange bolts and just use longer bolts.
went from a few hundred dollars to well over 2 grand, but i have to say it is fun building these lil engines. its shocking what a lil 212 will do blownout.
What if those weights are different in weight
You started good ,but ur tooling needs replaced,4 different porting work you left a lot to be taken out 4 flow also,i,I, rate it at a 5 on porting, sorry ,guy!!!!!
i put more weight in the front and turns perfect now
Balance is a big deal for sure. If you have a cart where you can move the seat front to back and change that balance, especially on something as light as a cart, You can really make a big difference in how it handles.
Ops I'm sorry you did put it in right the engine was the opposite way so it screw me up sorry about that
Just so u know u put your connecting rod in wrong the dipper should have been facing down
It is facing the correct direction. It has a spoon shape on one side to force oil into the big end and it points in the direction of rotation
I love the style of the Bullit but the wind noise is intolerable.
It is the noisiest helmet I have ever owned
Just got one for $75 to shred waste hay, putting a $175 6.6 hp predator on it
What manufacturer is that frame?
It has Rob Ron stickers on it but I spoke with a guy that has the original jigs and said it was a knock off.
Where are you lifting the car from?
How impressive, its mulches pinecones fed individually 🙄 was there a point to this vid?
The point is engagement, and it worked. It will turn a 30g bin of pinecones into a 5 gal bucket of shreds.
@@WhatIsTheWheel so will a pair of scissors... ONLY QUICKER THAN THIS VIDEO 🙄
Thank you so much you rock dude
I make my own cuters fairly easy
A lot of channels, see not to use that brass bushing because it’s something that can catch and force the go kart to go forward on its own. I don’t know how much credibility there is to that.
Love you sense of humor!
Thank you for your time…………. A huge difference as well. Are the cheap bills compared to the comet belt. The cheaper belts are gonna leave rubber on the clutch which is gonna screw up the way your belt rides on the clutch. It’s a terrible ride. Spend the extra few bucks and get a good belt from Powersports well worth it and the juggernaut I would advise to get the real juggernaut, huge difference
Your explanation of how the d shaped ports affect is great I wondered why they were shaped like that.
Can you post a link to those wheel and tires?
We had a fly cutter that held a lathe cutting bit, in shop class. It was awesome with a nice sharp quarter round grind.
All that $ and effort to use a fuel pump! Why not use stock tank with risers and bigger fittings? I don't think tach is right
Some of it was for looks, both to have a clean look on the engine and to use a remote alloy tank. The tach is correct. It inducts the signal from the spark plug wire and is set to read every other signal(the coil fires on scavenge cycle too). I used them on commercial mowing equipment for years.
Use genuine mikuni needle and seat
Are those vevor wheels. What hubs are those and where are they from?
They are Vevor rims and tires. They came as a set from Amazon. I think I got the hubs from OMB warehouse
