I'm an engineer and a do-it-yourselfer. My passion is motorsports and primarily motorcycles that go fast; REAL fast. I'm that introverted guy down the street who's always tinkering with something and has more money invested in tools than in my house.
I realized that a lot of my friends and family call me first when they are tying to fix or maintain something and are looking for pointers. I guess they want to learn from my many mistakes! I don't always know the best or conventional way to do something, but I usually have some sort of idea. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I created this channel thinking some people might enjoy or gain some information from watching me try to fix things. If I can help anyone be self sufficient, I'm pleased. I was shocked that after I posted my first repair video it quickly went to over 20,000 views! I'm humbled and thrilled that my videos have now been viewed over 100,000 times. I hope some people found something useful in them.

Key Fob Battery Replacement
Переглядів 2846 років тому
How to replace the battery in a key fob. I will be working on the fob for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but most are very similar. This FOB was used in many different Chrysler vehicles around 2014. Deteriorating performance or intermittent failure of the FOB is almost surely a weak battery. It's very easy and cheap to fix. Don't let anyone tell you that you need to go to a dealer for them to eval...

Awesome ass video my guy. This helped me convince my wife that jiffy lube wasn’t doing nothing special. Now i got the job which save us $100 every 3000 miles. Thanks a million!!!!
Glad it could help!
H11
theres another on youtube that hit 234
Very well described. I think I'll let my mechanic do it for me. I'm getting too old to be crawling under vehicles!
So helpful, thank you!
Thanks for this
Precise and direct information, no talking bull around, exactly what we looking for. ! thank you
Man I Dig this Video!! Angus & Phil 2 super nice guys ! Psyches me up to race again..I can only pray God Let's the salt stay dry an hard in 2024! DW
Why no car ramps for the front wheels? Why not make the job easier to do and give yourself more room to work?
Maybe I don't have any and maybe the persons who the video was targeted at are also unlikely to have them. But thanks for your concern!
@@philj8015 too many maybes😊
Trick I use to make it not cross threaded, is if you unscrew the bolt until you feel a little fall then start tightening
Thanks for the tutorial on this. I like to use heavy duty plastic car ramps. The reason why is so I can check for other possible leaks and look at halfshafts for cracked boots. I always put blocks behind rear tires. Plus always look at the old oil filter to see if the rubber gasket is still on it when you take it off. I had old gaskets stick to the engine. I like to let the engine get to operating temperature and shut it off and then drain the pan.
Thanks. Great points.
I'm currently looking into new vehicles, but wanting to check how difficult and/or annoying the self servicing will be . This one is absolutely simple, thankfully. Thank you for the video!
I'm glad it helped!
Thank you! Not bad at all for your first video. Will be changing my driver side low beam so very helpful.
Frank is awesome
I nailed it, Thanks to you Phil!
Thanks for the video..I successfully changed my bulb in my 2014 jeep grand Cherokee through the access hole. I'm stoked,!! Be blessed
Thanks Phil. I'm accustomed to changing oil but this made changing the oil on my parents car a lot more seamless. Appreciate all the tidbits and warnings as well. Im a small dude so this was fairly easy. Appreciate it.
You can use a plastic ramp so the work will be easer
Thanks Bro!!!!! Just finished changing my shit. -from the Ghetto.
maybe tape sharp edges before putting hand in there
Good suggestion. It may be hard to see all the edges that need to be taped. I found that fingerless gloves and a long sleeve cuffed shirt works OK too.
Life savior
Glad it was helpful!
You stripping that bolt not turning it man.. lol get the right size socket on it.
Thanks for the help 👍
The spec is actually 0W-20
I wish they can just make cars like gas with oil change when it Get’s low just add more oil and never have to change the oil flitters lol get electrical car but great job I have the same car and MDX also
Going from the top is much easier. Changed mind today. Did it from above - didn't curse once. The Last time is did it, I went from below. Took a long time and I cussed up a blue steak.
What was that guy's hand gesture to you mean at 10:23?
I got between an instructor and the guy he was observing and that pissed him off. I had to choose between blasting past a bunch of riders going into the corner or squeezing in front of the instructor. He didn't like it although I still think I made the right choice given my options.
@@philj8015 I see... Thanks for the info. Safe riding, man!
Good video, and don’t forget to return those shopping carts! 😂
Thanks for the video Phil
Access cover goes back on... But never was there in the first place...
Hm. My rogue takes 0-30W synthetic oil
Page 9-2 of my manual says: As an alternative to this recommended oil, SAE 5W-30 conventional pe- troleum based oil may be used and meet all specifications and requirements necessary to maintain the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
H11 bulb 👍
So I’ve been doing my own oil changes since I bought my rogue a year ago and just learned I’ve should of been using synthetic oil. What do I do?! Did I ruin my car?
No you did not ruin your car. Synthetic oil will last longer between changes, but is perfectly adequate to keep the engine well lubricated. Other than longevity, the benefits of synthetic are debatable (im sure someone is going to want to debate that point). Anyway, unless you're running non-synthetic oil over 5000 miles you have nothing to worry about.
EXCELLENT video man! Thanks very much for taking the time to do it.
I love how your tutorials include the difficulties, a walk through, and how much damage is done to your hands 🤣
Is t 0w 20 the same?
Does this work for a 2014 Cherokee latitude 2.4l
Mine takes 5qts with filter change..Use 0w-20 instead of 5w-30
Can you show us how to do the differential gasket
Use rubber gloves
Don’t put your fingers on the bulb, because of the oil in your skin. Bulb gets hot and burn out early
What ride smart level was that just curious?
Level 1
Bout to attempt mine this morning. Lol
Nice to know you were one of the few able to get it done thru the small access panel in the wheel-well. Has anybody considered widening the access "hole" by easily cutting the thin material away by several inches and then patching it using a removable piece attached with several plastic pop-out rivets? It seems that that would make future bulb changing problems a thing of the past! That is just what I'm gonna do with mine when the time comes.
How much nitrous are you spraying?
60. When we tried to spray 80 we kept breaking traction.
@@philj8015 nice. That's super fast for a 60 shot. Any valve train or engine mods?
@@victorfred1992 yes. A lot. Bike went 213 without the nitrous.
@@philj8015 what kinda gearing did it take to get to 213 without nitrous?
@@victorfred1992 I don't recall what we were running that day, but 18/41 should go about 218 at redline. However, you need the power and torque to pull it. My bike is making about 220 hp and 147 ft-lbs without the nitrous.
It was a very good presentation to help me out.
Thank you. Glad it was a help.
I’m new to learning about cars and I have a Rogue. Great video . Hopefully one day I’ll have the courage to do my own oil change lol. Until then, I’ll keep studying these videos.
I have a 15 Rogue. You can do it. It's easy, just take your time.
@@rich8577 true that
I figured the rogue is an suv so it would have more space to get underneath right?.....right???...... doesn't look like it.
It has more clearance than a sedan and I can slide under my car without a problem.
