Love the story anyway. But give it a heart rending theme and I'm hooked. Everyone should watch, the Timothy Dalton version from 1972 which has a beautiful soundtrack. And the final scene is beautiful. With a somewhere in time ending

yes this is the best version...and Sakamoto's music is even better....i came away with a rather black self centered and habitually cruel impression of Heathcliff that was not redeemed...much as we dont like to consider...children who are treated badly often grown into adults who treat everyone badly...

In a great soundtrack, the mood of the audience is almost controlled by the music. Not only did this classic story have a great cast and cinematography, but when I heard the enchantment of the music, I had to know who wrote it. When I found out that the genius behind this music was Ryuichi Sakamoto, I loved it even more. What a talented human being! What a great movie!
