Bandelier National Monument protects over 33,000 acres of rugged but beautiful canyon and mesa country as well as evidence of a human presence here going back over 11,000 years. Petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls pay tribute to the early days of a culture that still survives in the surrounding communities. I did my best with the pronunciations! A...

Let's be truthful. The jobs did not dry up. The industries were bought by outsides and moved to China

No, the jobs dried up. The region is still tied to oil and other extractive jobs which are going away. The pivot should be to tourism… but the people in this area dislike outsiders unless they’re hunters. So the jobs that used to exist dried up. And new jobs aren’t allowed.

I grew up 100 yards from the canal in Holley . I learned to fish there . My father use to raise and lower the lift bridge . I owned a few apt houses the backed up to the canal loop . One was a marina and let rooms . Very historic . I was in Buffalo at canal side where they were making an authentic canal boat .

Great pictures and good narration but very disappointed by the content. I wanted to know a lot more about the engineering challenges and how they were overcome. I also want to know about the role of the canal in commerce over its decades - what kind of economic growth did it foster and for how long? Where did if fail as a stimulus to commerce and linking the East to the Midwest via the Great Lakes? And what role did the canal to Lake Champlain play in commerce. Overall nice presentation but too many platitudes and too few hard facts regarding engineering and commerce.

Best Canal video ever. You did miss an old Aqueduct just East of Syracuse in Camillus, and next to Onondaga lake. I used to live a block away from it in Canastota, and went snowmobiling on the towpath a lot. I live in San Diego now, I took my GF back to see it last year, she had no idea how cool it is to see a working lock !

I was born and raised in Sheffield, but after 47 years in the military and civil service, I wound up in San Diego. I was in Sheffield just two weeks ago visiting family and enjoying the serenity of the property I grew up on. I visited Hector falls many times in my younger days. I was also lucky to fish the Farnsworth Creek while home. The area is still as beautiful as ever.

The Pussycat has sung a song to honor this beautiful mountain, river and landscape "Alleghenny" lyrics Pussycat Lyrics Follow Pussycat on Bandsintown "Alleghenny" There are times I remember a valley With it's trees soaked by waterfall rain From the mountains of high Alleghenny Files an eagle way down into the grain I see places where children were playin' Till the sunset turned all silver lined Ev'rytime I'm alone My Aleghenny home Callin' me to the place I left behind Alleghenny, Alleghenny, Alleghenny Send your echo way up to the sky Alleghenny, Alleghenny, Alleghenny Call me back till the day I'd die Where the shadows fall down from the hillside I've been dreamin' my daydreams away May seasons have flown My Aleghenny home Callin' me to the place I left behind Alleghenny, Alleghenny, Alleghenny Send your echo way up to the sky Alleghenny, Alleghenny, Alleghenny Call me back till the day I'd die

I was born in Warren, husband in Bradford. We've spent our lives out in these woods. We have a view of the forest from the back window. There's something to do every season, and we wouldn't live anywhere else. It rarely hits 90 degrees, but it is considered the best area in the country for fall leaf viewing. Best part is no one comes here. 😊 Great video.

Germans fallen were NOT victims of the war. They were its authors. They were the occupiers and they were the muscles of the Third Reich with millions of innocent lives swallowed by it. Men, women, children. Most of them murdered not in combat but in Holocaust and in famines orchestrated by Nazis. Eternal shame on the German soldiers of that war!

I travled the walkways and sat marveling at the drydock and locks of the old 8 foot wide canal near Albany . Some has become basements and walls near a parking lot. But, theres lots of great fossil hunts to be had all the big rack is made of fern and shells everywhare. There's something for everyone to enjoy. What a great job you've done with this video. It should be a school video . It's great thank you 👍

Great presentation! I grew up beside the Erie Canal in the '50's in Henpeck, to the west of Rochester. First memories were watching the barges and hearing the tug's horns. Just wanted to mention something that would have been a bit of interest. You could have shown the canal's original path through Rochester if you were just one bridge over. There is a double-decker arch bridge 50 yards to the north of the single arch bridge you showed. The lower of those arch bridges once held the Erie Canal as it traversed the Genesee River. After the canal was moved south, it held the subway, as the road for cars was built over it.

My great Uncle was actually at D Day itself and almost did exist afterwards. What had happen was he was on one of the boats approaching the beaches. When they came under fire from the German defenses. One of the deterrents against the allies hit his boat and blew it up. I forgot what hit them, or if anyone managed to survive, but regardless he was never found. Eventually they just chalked in up to another loss, what can you do. Though I think since his body was never recovered he was MIA, again I don’t remember all the details. However two weeks later he was found alive in a British hospital. Apparently what happened was when the boat was struck by the German defenders, he was thrown out of the boat into the water. He got picked up and sent to a hospital for recovery. He actually managed to still see some action fight in a ally tank. The father of a friend of my dad also found in WW2. But he and some others got captured by the Nazis. He was taken to a slave camp where every day, he would walk to a nearby farm and do manual labor all day and then walk back to the camp. Never with a guarded escort because there was literally no where to go and they’d kill him if he did. And that all he experienced in the camps, it only ended when the Allies turned up and freed the camp.
