Honda CRF 250L Shifter Shaft Replacement Pt.1
Переглядів 16 тис.6 років тому
I damaged my shifter shift at dirt park. I dropped the bike and bent the gear lever. Bent it back and in doing so gear was stuck in 4th and I brought the bike back home. Went online, researched and found that usually when this happens, the shifter shaft gets damaged. I talk about the gear lever, shifter shaft, and other things in this video. Note: You don't need to remove the left side case. Yo...
Did you pull off the clutch to remove the shifter?
Good job, I will do this, thks
Pretty sure you opened the wrong side but I get it you don’t have a manual
that's funny, the newest comment on this video is nearly a year old then two of us happen to watch the video within 3 hours
@@rideroftheforce5245 yeah i watch two videos because I couldn’t shift down after a low speed low side. I’m mechanically inclined so i after I realize what the damage part looked like I knew right away all I had to do was open the one side took me ten minutes, also you can use the adjuster for the brake lever and adjust the lever up or down for clearance you don’t have to remove it.
@@Mark_conor I had to replace the shaft on a cbr250 but couldn't find any videos on it. I just got around to replacing it today and was fortunately able to get clearance for it around the clutch plates. And sure enough a little tab of the shifter shaft was nearly sheared off because I had a crash too
Which cover should I take off to investigate gears teeth? My gears go out under the load
Did you check the clutch plates? Hopefully you fixed it by now
Always read the shop manual!
Hey. Yup. Agree.
I had the exact same thing happen to me while riding off-road. However, instead of bending, then entire shifter snapped off of the bike like it was a piece of plastic. About how long would you say it would be to take everything apart and replace it? I have little experience with this type of stuff.
Sorry for the late response. I haven't checked here in a while. I hope you got it fixed. It was my first time doing this, so it took me about 1 week of winter evenings to do this. If I have to do it again, I can get it done in 1 day.
hey, its there a certain way to put it back in? timing o gear???????????
Not sure what you mean by timing of gear. If you meant the gear shifter, you can play with it per your comfort level.
You didn’t have to drain the oil you coulda just laid it on its side and took the clutch case off
Bad idea. I did lay it down on the side to work on the forks earlier this year. That caused fluids to leak and got me worried that the oil would flow into the cylinder. Luckily it didn't. Don't lay it down for long periods go there is fluid in the bike. Bike is meant to be upright, tires down.
Dude that was awesome, I would certainly have lost track and given up after the first 10mts!!
