If you don't want politics shoved in your face I strongly recommend against godot.

Godot is NOT like Blender. Godot devs and community is a toxic cesspool.

I wonder if the real devs of blender will eventually integrate a game engine, if so that would be so cool, honestly, I mean blender has alot of features like 2d animation and things, so maybe they would in the far future

Real OGs remember Blender's Game system

technically you already can already do this via walkmode giving you fps controls that include even a jump button. its obviously not nearly this powerful but it can be found via "view>navigation>walk navigation" you'll need to press the tab key to enable gravity and its your basic mouse wasd controls with v being jump

I can make a FPS controller in a few minutes without any scripting (using Logic Nodes) in UPBGE.... The BGE is not dead !!!

I need scene engine!

UPBGE is available as a standalone. It's currently at Blender 3.6. This is super cool but that is the full package and you can freely publish what you make. For now my workaround for new features, if I want them, is to build them separately and then port them into UPBGE. It's not always a 100% 1:1 process and it doesn't work with absolutely everything but unless you are trying to reinvent the wheel then it is still one of the best options out there for indie developers. It's easier to learn and use than the big 3 engines but it also is not nearly as popular so if you choose this then be prepared to feel naked and lost for a few days but know that if you stick with it then you'll have handmade cloths and a hand drawn map at your disposal once you pass the test.

Check UPBGE or Range Engine (Both are fork of blender with game engine but with new features)

there is also armory and upbge that are based on blender code. i think the name was armory...

The loss of the Blender game engine was huge, I wasn't messing with blender back then but had a couple buddies who were and I remember them doing a bunch of simulation stuff in the gameengine. When I heard it had gone I was way way less interested in messing with blender until Ian Hubert's new stuff got me back into it.

As someone who never stopped using uses Blender game engine, it's good to have an update finally. lol

After working in unreal the ability to first person the camera was sorely missed going back to blender

Ok 1 important questions: Can i intergrade the game part into the animation part? For example i shoot a laser gun or walk a character with the game part, but have it be inside the animation? That way i dont need to animate every character aiming or walking
