@@paulhancock3844 I take your point, and I know it doesn’t make for a great video visually. I’m not aware of too many marks that hold fish so the ones I do know I tend to keep it to limited view, I pretty much show the destination I’m going to anyhow. But as soon as anyone reveals a location with a catch ppl do tend to flock there.. look at cfon / belan / stables / penmon. So the few marks I have landed fish, unfortunately I feel the need to keep them somewhat covert.. it’s nothing new, as you know, the bass hunt is notoriously unrewarding and many blanks ensue lol. Hope you understand. 👍🏻
Enjoyable video to watch mate. I am hoping to fish in the exact same spot coming up to the evening's high tide tomorrow (28.08.24) so lets hope that I can manage to catch one or two Mackerel like you did, but a Bass would be more than welcome! Just out of interest where do you park when you fish at that spot under the Menai Bridge please?
@@petebony3093 Hi Pete, cheers for that. Be mindful that be the water may rise to the tree line on the bank so if your fishing it right up to high may be risky! You could get cut off. Easiest place I could recommend although a bit of a walk, park near treborth gardens near Menai bridge, and if you walk along the coastal path all the way to the Britannia bridge, you can follow a road all the way down to the base of Britannia bridge and come back on yourself along the rocks/weed. Tide may very well flow strong as the tides building though which could make lure fishing difficult. I only fish along that shore at low tide. Hope this helps. Good luck 👍🏻
@@Jakesfishingwales That is a great help so thanks very much. From what you are saying it sounds more like a low water mark.
@@petebony3093 yes in my experince, low water 👍🏻

Whys the camera just pointed at the seaweed? Honestly mate, ppl who know, will know where you are from the walk down that path. I dont understand why ppl go to such lengths to hide where they are when ultimately the video is about doing an activity... i go down here all the time, its never rammed, show ppl some views, and what a wonderful area we live in... there plenty of fishing around, ppl arnt going to suddenly descend on mass!

@Jakesfishingwales I understand mate, look at happy hookers boat vids, or fish lockers they are interesting because they show the whole thing, not just focused down the whole time. Nice video and informations . Can u please give information , 5:21 where can i find this silicone . I want to put one of these into my bag . :)
Hi Tim, you can get them on eBay or any bass lures website, sold by ‘sidewinder’ called ‘skerries sandeel 6inch’ 👍🏻
You can hire a boat by going to the pub in Rhyd Ddu
I recently fished here for the first time and I have to say that I was very impressed! I also fished from the bank and using only an olive nymph on point and a red and black buzzer on the dropper, I netted 8 and lost another 5 in under 4 hours. The fish are in superb condition and they really let you know you're in a scrap when you hook into one. I will definitely travel down for another fish on Llyn Brenig. What I did notice Jake was that there would be no surface action for a while, then the fish would start to swirl on the surface film and within a few seconds of that, I would be hit by a cloud of black grey buzzers and that is when I knew I was going to get a hit. Hopefully you will manage to net one next time you go. Tight lines.
Hi Peter, that sounds like a great session! Especially on such a big reservoir. Yes I noticed the fish fight very well and hopefully I manage to actually land them next time 😂👍🏻. Cheers and tight lines.
Right Jake , out of all the multitude of flies I tie and fish Apps worms must be my least successful flies . I have bought this material from Angling Active as it’s like rocking horse shit to find …. Now tied some up and will report back soon as I’ve tested them .. I’ve tied the middle legs in when I reach the back of the bead rather than having to go back to tie them in leaving more of the sparkle intact . I have also held all the legs back out the way with a small clip and then whip finish with the tool in front of the eye rather than on the body . We all do things our own way I suppose and I’m just putting my tuppence worth in . Many thanks for the share brother and I’m looking forward to trying out something new 🎣🎣🎣👍
Hi Dfisher, Yes it is tricky to find but as you probably can tell now you’ve worked with it, it’s different from normal flexi floss material. I can only say from my experience that on its day, is a killer of a pattern. I’ve had my PB on it also. I hope you have a good day on it and let me know how you get on, 👍🏻👍🏻🎣 Cheers.
I went there today, I thought it was the south bank only your meant to fish? there's no bench on the south bank lol, if it don't matter, next time ill go all round. great video by the way!!!
Hi, Did you have any luck? I’ve only fished the south and navigated through the reeds on the west. I understand the opposite side is owned by a farmer so I’m not sure if able to fish there? Cheers 👍🏻
I coaught one but it came off as i tried to net it, only a small jack, i think it was too sunny so they were all in the middle maybe.
@@Coast2CoastFishing-jg1px ah unlucky, atleast you connected with one though! Yeah I’ve found when it’s bright / cold they don’t really want to know
Nice video, which side of the lake was this?
Cheers, all along the south side and west really. 👍🏻
Nice fishing Jake. Having done a bit of pike fishing in the past I would give a drifting float rig with a deadbait such as mackerel a try. If set right this would keep your rig above the weed. Check out Dannys Angling Blog on UA-cam for some pike fishing videos. 👍👍
Hi Glyn, cheers, good to know but like Bass, I enjoy the hunt with lures. 👍🏻
Great stuff!! Cheers! @MarkTwrites
Cheers Mark.
Red letter day that Jake. Just wish the fishery was nearer to me in North Wales 👏👏
Great action 👍
Lake and reservoir fishing isn't much different to putting a line into a barrel of fish , the true way is wild rivers.
Interesting take, Some days can prove challenging. But yes, authentically the purest of fishing is wild.
And wild lochs👍but each to their own
hey it Lars from denmark can you show how you make your setup with 3 buzz

Hi Jake, Thank you for sharing the video/fly. As flytyers we never stop learning. Am I correct in saying that this material is listed on Glasgow Angling website as “ Perfect Rubber”.. Also cay you tell me the length in inches re the legs of the fly. Thank you…..Keep the video’s coming……🤙🤙🤙
Hi Harry, Sorry for late reply, yes it’s called ‘perfect rubber’ Glasgow had it on before not sure if they still do. Many thanks, Jake 👍🏻🎣
Nice catch what lure?
Cheers. On a SG pencil sandeel 👍🏻
Thanks I’ve been sea bass fishing for around a year now but only caught 2 in the Pwllheli harbour and tips?
@@HighTrend19 same for me really, it’s hard going! It’s just a matter of keep going and believe each time you go it’s like your first time and you could catch.. other wise it’s very demoralising 😂. Good marks off the llyn peninsula, I’ve not been down there myself but hear about it. Look for rocky / weedy marks with some tide. Fish it down and up and hopefully you bump into fish. And remember which state of tide you caught at then try and base your fishing around then 👍🏻

What a fight
The trout in Brenig pull your arm off they fight so well. Haven't fished it for a while Jake but I have found that the bank fishing can outfish the boats particularly early in the season. As it gets hotter the fish do move out and a boat is a better choice. Might see you up there sometime.
Hi Glyn, yes I noticed very good fighters, pity they got off before I could see/land them. I noticed a few bank anglers which was good. I look forward to returning and hopefully running into a few more fish.
This happened to me last week. Fish were feeding on the surface but not interested in anything I threw at them - flies that had worked the week before! This is the reality of fly fishing.

It doesn't get much better than that Jake. What size buzzer were you on; size 10 or 12? Lovely fish from a great fishery. Just a tip I learnt from a Tim Joyce video. To land more fish when using barbless hooks keep your rod low to the water only lifting when you are about to net the fish. Try it, it really works.

Great video! Had the same problem many times myself, blank after blank after blank visits, resisting the urge to use lures and stick to naturals. When my patience is worn and I’m about to quit I put ok my SOS lure…green flash damsel and bang I have fish! Can’t understand why fish will take this on the surface, just under and deeper on different retrieves when they’re frenzied on buzzes all around me but not interested in my buzzers and nymphs?
Hi J, Yes I get all your frustrations, trout seem to have us on the end of a string and not the other way round 😆. But that’s part of the game and working out what they want and how they want is what keeps the sport captivating! Glad you enjoyed vid. Cheers
