Waves new V15 Update - Revised GUIs for three classic plugins! | First Look - Overview - Playthrough
Hello everyone! In this video I'm going to take a look at Waves latest V 15 Update. It features revitalized GUIs for the classic plugins Doubler, SuperTap, and Enigma. With updated interfaces and optimized functionality, the new versions offer a modern and intuitive user experience while preserving the original sounds and capabilities that engineers have relied on for decades.
I think it's great that these three famous plugins have been given a modern look and a scalable interface. These powerful tools have always been an important part of my plugin library and I'm looking forward to working with the new versions. The modern interfaces will certainly improve the workflow significantly.

Doubler
Waves Doubler is a digital audio effects processor that replicates the incoming audio signal to another two or four voices. With doubler you can thicken voices, spread mono instruments, suffyouse space in mixes, and much more. In my opinion, it's a first-class sound design tool that shouldn't be missing in any plugin library.
Enigma
Enigma combines comb filtering, modulation, filtered feedback, a reverb-like processor, and time delay. It can transform conventional instrument sounds into new identities. Enigma enables a variety of unique effects and is ideal for adding “ear candy” to any type of production!
Super Tap
Super Tap features modern and redifined vintage Tape Echo Effects. It does everything the vintage hardware did, but offers far more flexibility. SuperTap’s modulation, feedback delay, and filtering enhance echoes even more. It‘s a classic delay powerhouse.

Wave's new plug-in is an efficient dynamic compressor that quickly and automatically identifies and corrects problems in a track. I think the design and workflow of the plugin are excellent. I can't yet say how the plugin will perform in a real mixing situation. But...

Kiive Audio M5133 - The best Mastering Equalizer? || No-talking-Walkthrough with transcribtion
Looks promising. What i miss in all low end enhancers i know is some kind of Gating so i can sustain or shorten the added low end.
Agreed, compressor section needs a mix knob! Other than that its great & easy to dial in. No parallel processing seems like an oversight though in today's world
This plugin is amazing especially when using 16x oversampling.
The waves one may be “brighter”, but it’s also spread across the stereo field. Brightness + width = thinness (80% of the time). Whereas Brainworx and SSL (ahem the actual company) both follow the similar stereo fields. SSL has more perceived “depth” than its Brainworx variant.
So only a GUI update? If so, disappointing.
Thanks for your comment! Yes, they only updatet the GUI. But the interfaces were really very outdated, so the update is a great improvement if you liked working with the plugins. The plugins themselves are very comprehensive. The modern GUI now makes them more user-friendly.
Hello, thanks for the video, what is this spectrum analyzer?
Many thanks for your comment! Sorry for the late reply. The Analyzer is part of the integrated visualization of Samplitude Pro, the DAW I use for video production.

Thanks for the great indepth video!

That's crazy!!!
Yep, it's a really powerful plugin.
Thanks for the playthrough! We really appreciate this! 🙏🏼🎵

talk way too fast....slow down and more people will watch this... thanks for the time you spent creating this vid...
Thanks for the advice, I'm working on it.
Nice vid bro
Thanks a lot!
So the attack and release knobs didn't do anything in your demo, they only work when the time constant is in the variable positions.
Thank you. Unfortunately I missed that, even if it is logical in retrospect...
Just when I think I have enough reverbs...
😄👍
Sorry but this compressor is not good. Has some good features like the Input/Output/Mix/AGC but compare this to Acustica's Smoke, and you will hear how underwhelming this thing sounds.
CLA-3A doesn't sound bad at all next to the LA-3A. Nice.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything quite like that warmth filter
Sounds lovely honestly
Great review thanks
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Incredible test! Well done.... I own all of these except the SSL. I've been thinking about picking it up but I had heard it's very clean (and I think that shows here). Drums - BX killed it on the drums, followed by Waves. UAD must need more tweaking because it was the weakest on drums by far. Guitars - Preferred SSL on guitars, followed by BX! SSL had such a wide stereo image. UAD and waves sounded similar, slightly more narrow stereo field and had that honky tone in the mids. This leads me to believe that they may actually be the more accurate emulations (never used a real SSL console), but I just liked the sound of the other 2 better. Keys - okay now it is obvious that the BX just has more low end extension than the others and that's where my preference is coming from. But wow, in this one the top end sounds more open as well. Not as much sustain in the compressor as the others though. Waves felt like it would sit in the mix best, UAD was the most forward (thanks to that honky, congested sound in the mids again) SSL was the darkest and widest. I think when using on multiple sources the BX was the safest bet, especially if you couple it with a stereo imager for sources that need to be a bit wider (like the S1 imager or PA's new SPL BIG). SSL 2nd with Waves as a close 3rd. As a UAD Ultimate owner and fan of many of their plugins, I am sad to say that I thought it came in last place on just about every source. With that said, that company is going downhill anyway and has really questionable business practices so it would be nice to abandon them anyway with all these incredible new options!
Thank you very much for your comment! I really appreciate that. I'm glad you liked the video!
Amazing Put this code MELDA98753079 in your cart now and save 20% more on already huge savings at meldaproduction (first purchase) Thank me later 🙂
ssl native is warmer and little wider, the rest sounds clear
uad for me
9000 is better anyway.
I can hear subtle differences. But what Jcpunga says you probably won't notice anything different on a full mix.
Doesn't sound like tape that's the problem. Waste of money then.
On the Drums I hear the sustain on the Hi-Mids extend just a bit more. And BX transients hit a bit more. But it may just be me imaging things 😂😂😂 TBH they are so similar that on a full mix you probably wouldn’t even notice 🔊
👍
G Series still is the best sounding
Strangest "acoustic guitar" I've ever heard.
Well, I have many more strange sounds up my sleeve (: Edit: I can't change the tanscription afterwards, but I renamed the chapter in the video description to "guitar".
Huh. Nice video, but everything in it sounds less-than-great, including the plug-in.
Hello and thank you for your comment! I appreciate it very much. It seems like I didn't choose good examples for this video.🤔That's good to know, I'll pay even more attention to that in the future.
To be fair, the hardware is one of my favorites, so maybe my expectations for the plug-in are just too high.
Not sure that using it on NI's Strummed Acoustic (or any sampled instruments poorly performed/programmed for that matter) is representative of it in a real world application. The audio content of the video should, ideally, match the production quality of the video.
Well, thanks for the compliment on the production quality of the video. :) True, the guitar was probably the least representative. Considering how many productions nowadays contain sampled instruments and that the video is not about the expensive hardware but a plugin emulation of it that is accessible to everyone, I still don't find it inappropriate. In the end, I probably should have used the plugin on the MixBus as well. Unfortunately, some ideas only come when it's too late to change anything (:
Thanks for sharing! What do you think it adds to the usual compressor lineup you might already have?
You're welcome! I particularly appreciate the SUCCESSOR for it's subtle analog sound character and pleasant compression. I consider the character of the plugin to be more unobtrusive than that of many other compressors, which is why I will be using the plug-in primarily on the mix bus for the time being.
So it's transparent and it has analog character?
The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. In my opinion, the SUCCESSOR has an unobtrusive sound character that is more or less prominent depending on the settings. I think this is very appropriate for a compressor originally intended for the mix bus. It's more about creating a certain glue factor than coloring the sound.
Hi, does it work with Reason?
Hi, I haven't worked with Reason for a long time. But since VST2/3 plugins are supported in Reason it should work: help.reasonstudios.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002999093-What-VST-types-are-supported-in-Reason
Thanks for this cool video
You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it.
Thank you for you demonstration!
You're welcome! Thanks for your comment. 🙂
Nice ❤
Thanks! 🙏
Very transparent compressor
Wich daw u use and wich software in the screen plz ♥️
Hi, thanks for your comment! The metering is the integrated visualization of Samplitude Pro - The DAW I use for video productions.
Intéressant. Ce serait bien de faire la comparaison INFINITY 2 vs PRO Q 3
Merci pour ton commentaire ! C'est vrai, je vais peut-être le faire un jour.
Mostly I prefer the G version
So do I. It sounds more "present" than the others, more forward and more open and yet not lacking in the lows either. To me it's the most balanced of them all.
@@flotopo agree with you. It's my favourite
I see you like Sequoia there OP LoL Cool awesome
very nice comparison! Such a nice channel strip.
Thanks a lot! I feel the same way and really love both UAD's SSL 4000 Channel Strip and Bus Compressor. I'm glad that they re-designed both plug-ins and added them to the Spark subscription.
is there anywhere it is still free?
www.ujam.com/ufx/reverb/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw3624BhBAEiwAkxgTOvTPHluUT3mnxR1MxwcYU1u97vc8-Q4gFLzjjVxTFIKKhmhXq0iHbxoCswoQAvD_BwE Scroll down to "checkout for free" it should be added to the cart for $ 0.00
If this is adding sub bass would you want to tune the sub bass to the key of the song?
I rarely use this plugin, but your question seems to be a reasonable assumption. It's definitely a good way if the sub doesn't harmonize with the song. I could imagine inserting the plugin into an AUX channel, tuning it there and mixing it in. I really like this idea!
Awesome demonstration, thank you so much ! This is now my favorite channel strip!
Many thanks for your motivating words! I'm glad you liked the video.
My fav on this video was the CS2, it feels with more "soul" and less hyped, if that makes any sense
